Yeah it's certainly looking that way. I read the handmaid's tale in junior high and watching my country slowly become a precursor to something like Gilead has been depressing and infuriating. What really sucks is those of us wanting to get out before this time-bomb goes off are being hit hardest by the worsening economic and social conditions so we don't have the resources to emigrate.

Two decades ago, I was assaulted & impregnated against my will, just weeks before my 18th birthday. My body was not only violated, it became my prison cell, trapping me with an incredibly heavy burden & constant reminder of my trauma. Thankfully, I had options. I reclaimed my own body, life & future by taking back the autonomy that had been violently stolen from me. MY decision. Not my assailant's & certainly not my government's!
It's both heartbreaking & infuriating to know that young women today don't have the same bodily autonomy I had back then. A room of just 6 individuals - half of whom were appointed by Trump - met in secret & took it away despite each promising publicly to uphold the Court's 50-year-old decision. Voting is so important, now more than ever! We cannot stand by while our rights are systematically stripped from us & the beliefs of religious zealots are forced upon us!! ♀️🗳️✊

Reminder 6 weeks pregnant is 4 weeks after conception, 1 week after missing a period, visible on a pregnancy test for 1 week.
And all of this is assuming a regular menstrual cycle of 28 days. If someone has a longer cycle, it can be less than four weeks after conception, _and_ it can be before the next menstruation is expected. Not to mention all those whose periods are too irregular to even know when to expect them, and whose most common explanation for a missed period is that it’s just really late.
No man should ban anything a woman may need!

We've had the heartbeat bill in GA for a few years now. I know girls who take weekly pregnancy tests (obviously not when they're not sexually active) just to make sure they are able to make a decision before the 6 week mark.
Weekly pregnancy tests for anyone who has a uterus and is sexually active with someone who produces sperm seems excessive, yet it might not even be enough to prevent unwanted pregnancies.
It's much appreciated that this man understands the situation and is standing up for women's rights to reproductive freedom! Now if only more men had this much common sense...

11 hours from Miami to North Carolina is an underestimation. I grew up near Miami and it can take 9 hours just to reach the border with Georgia, depending on traffic and weather, and another 4-5 to get through Georgia and SC to NC, also depending on traffic.
And that’s if you don’t stop at any point, which is basically impossible on a single tank of gas. It is an ENTIRE day of non-stop driving. When I used to drive to see family in Tennessee I’d stop in Atlanta overnight and continue in the morning, because traffic can be an absolute nightmare and you really never knew what it would be like until you got through it.
They want to save the embryos so they can have target practice for when that embryo is 5 years old.
And now they want a federal ban.

When i found out i was pregnant with my first they told me i was 6 weeks 3 days. My first ultrasound (3 weeks later) my estimated gestational age was actually a week earlier than they originally thought. So when i thought i was almost 10 weeks, i was closer to 8 and a half weeks
I have 3 boys. It took until the 6 week mark on all 3 to realize I was pregnant! Seriously messed up!

It happens. Especially if you don’t get regular periods naturally or if it’s due to the type of hormonal birth control you’re on, especially the long lasting types. You can also still have a regular or lighter period early on in pregnancy so you wouldn’t think to get a test. The uterus is wild.
A friend of mine didn't know until 7 months when her doc had her tested just to rule that out as the cause of her weird symptoms. She didn't feel pregnant at all and she'd already had a couple of kids.
Same with my sister. I noticed at 4 weeks but I have chronic insomnia and suddenly was falling asleep at like 9 PM..😂

Some place where people can get reliable information and even someone's to talk to. I am so grateful that I had planned parenthood to go to. I don't think a lot of people realize that Planned Parenthood, but that's the only helps supply birth control, but it also gives people information about preventing sexually transmitted diseases. It helps people with a variety of reproduction information and counseling. I've always had a good experience with them and with their care.
Planned Parenthood PREVENTS abortions by having a place where young people can get information about reproductive care. It's literally the best place I've ever gone for healthcare. The people working there are always the best, most helpful, least judgemental doctors/nurses in the world. I wish all our hospitals were non-profit. People would trust medicine again, lol.

yeah a test is usually positive around when the period should have happened so the person is really just under 2 wks pregnant 4 wks is not that much longer and if you have a busy life it might just slip your mind you had missed a period then getting to the store and the stress of "should i take the test now or wait" heck i think i was 2 months pregnant the first time when we noticed something was off.... the 2nd time i no joke woke up the next morning and just knew it had happened.
6 wks is nothing and its terrifying florida is like this.

I think Iowa was the first to put this into law, but it was blocked by the courts until this year. It goes into effect any time now. We also don't even have hemp products now, let alone marijuana. We also can't propose ballot initiatives here.
But you can buy some really nice houses for cheap. Our property values in the Midwest are low. You can buy a fixer upper for $50,000. A decent home would probably run $125,000, but I also saw $75k homes that claimed to be move in ready.
Not sure the cheap housing makes it any better to live here (we also have high property taxes), but I can't afford to move elsewhere. So in the meantime, I stay and try to turn my birthplace back to at least purple. 😟
