    People, I was a Rover sitter for over 10 years. I treated them as my own, watched them go from puppyhood to seniors. They are my grand dogs and I love them still. There are careless people everywhere. Day care businesses, babysitters, nursing homes. Rover isn’t evil but some people are. Interview sitters and pay attention to your gut feelings no matter what reviews say. Insist on pictures and videos everyday. Family and friends are not always available.

      It’s tragic but I feel for dog sitter too. Obviously she should’ve been under same roof/same room as those babies but with roasting dangeous weather and broken ventilation, I doubt it took long for the doggies to die or she did it intentionally. Thanks for your care and important points

      @@Dhern0115There was likely no AC in the shed, perhaps it didn't need it most of the time. But I don't think it's that she didn't show people her setup, rather, the people would not have thought she had a setup! About 100% of people on Rover are carrying for the pet in their own home. It would be like taking your child to daycare, and asking the people, will my child be here in the house with you or in the garage with the car?

    PLEASE give us a name of the sitter! Our evil neighbor 🤬 used to leave her student-puppies outside all the time. She’s a dog trainer and a dog sitter. She used to leave dogs outside for days. It doesn’t matter if it was 120F in the summer or -20F in the winter. She did that for years until we have purchased a house near them and we witnessed her abuse and had to report her. By the way that evil woman is well mannered, smiling non-stop, she is wearing a mask of a nice person which she never was and never will be! So please be careful who you are trusting with your fur babies. I am sure she showed to the dog owners so many good environments for the dogs inside of her house, however all the dogs were thrown out to her backyard and stayed there all the time. I have a proof. By the way we live in the good neighborhood with expensive houses. I'm sure the dogs owners could not even imagine that this smiling woman from the nice neighborhood was abusing their dogs. So please be careful‼️

      This is a long comment but I hope you will read it anyway.
      I haven't ever used Rover. I don't even know if it's available here in Southern Utah. Our temp's have been hovering around 110F. We have been asked and I've known pet sitters and I build websites. I'm mentioning this because it's very easy to make it look like someone has awesome reviews. I've been asked a number of times if I would do a pet sitting review in exchange for free pet sitting. My family rescues dogs and at times cats for a short time due to allergies. One of my friends asked me to do a review about her in home pet sitting. Even though she is a good friend, I turned her down. She had around 15 positive reviews and most of the reviews are people I know and a few didn't have any pets. I told my friend who's awesome with pets and only one person who did a review I knew that my friend sat with their dog. Basically what I'm saying is that just because someone has positive reviews, that doesn't mean they are legit. On Yelp, it's very easy to do fake reviews. I was shocked about how easy it was. A restaurant that I built a website for had an unhappy customer. They had close to 20 of their friends posting negative reviews. Even though they didn't eat there. I'm guessing Rover has it where people can post good or bad reviews. Anyhow, people should in my opinion go to the location where someone is wanting to use their services first to make sure their fur babies are taken care of and where they are being cared for. I never use pet sitters and if I needed someone to watch my Pugs we take them to family members. I know that everyone might not have that option. If someone needs a sitter I would at least check them out 1st.

    Rover will just use anyone. They don't screen people. It takes skills, knowledge and a caring heart to be a dog sitter. Those bracephalic dogs are VERY heat sensitive. I dog sit french bulldogs. The can only be walked early or late in the day during the summer and you have to know to make them wet if they get a little too hot. Where it is really hot you need to have air conditioning to keep those. If you have one of those breeds you need to be especially careful of who sits your dog in the summer. Different dogs may have different needs.

    The petsitter should not have had ANY dogs inside a shed...and if there was A/C in that shed that went out, she should have brought them in the house to monitor them closely.
    Some dogs, such as short nose dogs (pugs, boxers, bulldogs), and heavy coated dogs (collies, huskies, St Bernards, etc) suffer terribly in the heat.
    Bringing them into an airconditioned mall or store, giving them a pool, could have saved their lives.

    I would definitely not leave my dog with anyone. I would rather find a friend that would come in my house and check on my dog. These people can say anything they can do anything and you’re not there to find out. I’m even scared of squatters. What if one of these people are a squatter they come into your house to watch your dog change the locks and move in. I don’t trust these people. There are too many people that are looking to destroy lives over money, I would never let anyone take my dogs out of my house and care for it somewhere else

    Not all sitters from Rover are like this, you can take your dog to a doggy daycare or a vets office and they can be irresponsible . People saying its the app and the sitters who use it but really this was the individual actions of this particular sitters.

      You’re a real great person huh? That is my cousin you are talking about fucker. Imagining her reading these comments is making me physically ill. The app is obviously misleading people into trusting their care and they do not vet their employees well enough to keep these families best friends from dying in a hot shed. Do you have any idea how hard it is to lose a pet under normal circumstances? Now multiply that by 20. Here’s an idea - maybe blame the app and the woman who let 4 dogs die horribly instead of the victims you insensitive prick.

    All you commenters say not to leave your pet with anyone and yet you drop your kids off with others most days. You can’t assume your pet is going to die at the hands of a pet sitter.

    • @lnqxr
      @lnqxr 2 месяца назад

      Nope you can't, but you can't also assume that the person your entrusting your precious animals with is going to be good to them either. And I don't have children, but if I did there is no way I'd leave my child to be raised by people at a Daycare. You have kids you parent them, that is in fact what parenting is: raising your child or children.

    People we live in different times. You just cannot trust strangers...even ones you pay ...to do the right thing. People have gone insane in the US and will lie just to get a paycheck because of the dystopian system. STOP acting like we can all go back to normal, have vacations like before etc. We ALL have to make different choices amd sacrifices now. If you have to leave a loved one with any stranger and there are not cameras and audio available the whole time... DON'T DO IT!
