Dawn Bish You’re most welcome!! Have fun playing😊
Wow, they look amazing!
Thanks Donna. So much fun!
I got a laminator two days ago, so I just need to get some foil and I'll definitely try this! Thank you for the tutorial, it looks easier than I thought it would be!
Behold This I hope you have fun!!
This a great idea, I love the designs and the colours of the foils! 😘
Glad you like it!
Thank you for this tutorial! I did it and it turned out better than I hoped!
Yay! I'm so pleased. I just saw it on Instagram and LOVE it!!!
Gorgeous 😍😍😍 and just realised my husband has a lazer printer at work!!! 😃😃😃😃😃 thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful weekend 🌻💖🎀🌈 x
Oh so lucky!!! Hope you have fun printing and foiling ALL the things!
Beautiful - thank you for sharing and looking forward to the next video 😘
Jannet445 My pleasure😊
Thank you for sharing this video on your foiling process.
Hope you found it helpful!
Thank you so much!! I knew it was the foil!! Heidi swapp foils are the absolute WORST!! Thank you for clearing up that the deco foil is the better way to go, they just came out with some new colors too! You're the best!
Paper & Leather- Meredith You’re most welcome! I’ve definitely had much better results using deco foils. If you have HS foils and don’t want to waste them, check out out my video on glue foiling!
Thank you! Amazing tutorial.
Erica Perez So glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching😊
you have the best ideas! i learn a lot of things from you
sojil I’m so glad you found it helpful!
This is amazing, and I have a laser printer and a laminator!!! So excited to get started, hah! :D Thank you!!!
Yay!! Let me know how you get on!
What laser printer unit you have mam?
Fantastic looking, thank you.
toujours à la recherche de qui je suis Thank you!!
I loved your video thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I do foiling with my laser printer and laminator all the time too. It’s so easy. I do buy laser printer acetate and vellum because the last thing that I want is the acetate or vellum to warp or melt into my laser printer. I use the same foil. It’s awesome 👏🏼
Ah lucky you! If I had a laser printer, I would be foiling every day😂
Daksina If I had time I’d do even more!! It’s so fun to play.
Can you direct me to the vellum and acetate that’s you use for your laser printer?
Kim Huschke The acetate and vellum I have linked in my amazon store above are suitable for both types of printers😊
Can you share what acetate and Vellum you use for laser printer?
Thanks for the tip
Pleasure!
You mean that's all it takes? Vinyl, a laminator, and a printer! I could've been done all this! Michael's here I come!!!
Chasity Garrett Yep! So easy!! (You want vellum though, not vinyl)😊
@@Daksina Yes vellum 🤦🏻♀️🤣
Girl I thought the same thing! I've been pining away for these holo acetates on Etsy and whole time I had almost everything I need to make it myself the whole time!
Thanks for the tutorial Daksina!
@@NenaKPlans You are so welcome! Have fun!!
Thank you for filming this! I was literally just thinking the other day that I wanted to try and foil some things, but I have an inkjet. So your suggestion to take it to a printing company is perfect! And I really appreciate you showing the process of using the laminator too, because that’s how I will do mine 🤗 So it was very helpful to see the process! Thank you!!
You're most welcome!! Have fun and please share if you give it a try!
Absolutely love the tutorial. Thank you! I did want to know what kind of journal is that? I need one of those in my life, but I've never done anything like it. Any advice on where to start? Thank you again for sharing your beautiful talent with the rest of us.
You’re so welcome! The notebook that I have is a B6 Stalogy. I always recommend watching a few RUclips videos to see how different people use their planners. That will help you decide what you want to include in yours and maybe give you some ideas on how to set one up. The beauty of this kind of notebook is that you can set it up however you want and if it doesn’t work you can change the set up/layout very easily.
Hi this video was perfect as I have just started journaling and needed some tips so thank you so much for that this is such a brilliant idea ❤but I have one question how do you stick this in your planner plus I have a spiral one so how to add this page ?
Thank you so much!! You might have to get a hole punch for your spiral notebook to be honest. I don't use one so I'm not 100% sure, so sorry!
@@Daksina no worries at all but I really loved the idea 💜💜
Hi Daksina, thank you so very much for the videos! I have a quick question, I have searched your shop but don't seem to be able to see which vellum you use for toner foiling...any suggestions? Anything I have found that is recommended is from USA and takes over a month to arrive! TIA, Sonya
Hi! Yes sure, this is vellum I use for printing and foiling: amzn.to/3VmP8Pz
I was wondering what software program you use to design some of your pages? thanks - Love all of your pages.
Thanks so much! I use the free Silhouette Studio software.
Can we do the same with regular avery labels?
Printing on them and then foiling them? Yes, absolutely! I make stickers using Avery sticker paper this way too💕
This is a really silly question but, how do you put your vellum or acetate into your journal? Are you just sticking them into the crease, or taping them in somehow?
Meghan Hambleton Not a silly question at all! I use clear tape to tip them in. I have a video linked in the description box above showing my method😊
@@Daksina Thank you! Using the ruler is genius!
Newbie questions here lol so you get the file printed onto vellum & acetate sheets at your local print shop? Can you use the Silhouette program without owning a silhouette? And can you purchase the digital file to print them on vellum/acetate yourself on Etsy? I tried searching but not much luck. Thank you!!
Yes, printed at local print shop. The Silhouette program is free to download and use and there is a lot you can do with it without owning the cutting machine itself. You can buy digital files on Etsy and also sticker shops. I have ones I purchase from tagged all over my Instagram account!
Thank you for responding my question. Can you please let me know how to get the free silhouette software? Thank you
Sure, here you go: www.silhouetteamerica.com/software
Help me, I’m a newbie to this and you mentioned a program you use to make your own design. Can you share the program and how to use it?
Suzy Hobbs Hi, I use Silhouette Studio. I will be filming a quick how to, but there are lots of videos on RUclips showing how to use it if you wanted to check them out😊
Can you use a clothes iron instead of a laminator? (I don't have a laminator)
Sydney Brunner I’m not sure but it’d be worth a try!
Omg thanks for sharing! I have called and my local FedEx staples and Office Max will let me do it. It's only about 14 cents since it's black and white.
Loveys_Creations Amazing!! Go and foil ALL the things!😂🙌🏽
@@Daksina literally making designs now 🙌🏾
Will a toner color other than black work?
I'm not sure to be honest. As far as I am aware, the foil adheres to the toner so I'm not sure why it wouldn't. But as I've never tried it I can't say for sure!
When you take them to Rymans, do you provide the acetate and vellum? Do you sit with them and tell them which designs to put on which papers?
Yes, I take my own acetate and vellum and the pages I want to print on a USB. I give them the USB and they open the files and print them. I am at the printer, putting in my own paper, sheet by sheet to avoid any paper jams. Hope that helps!
@@Daksina Thank for explaining all this hun. I bit the bullet and bought a laser printer!
Thanks so much for this, Daksina! :) I'm not sure if you mentioned, but what model laser printer do you have? I'm currently looking for one that can handle cardstock (to make cards, invitations, etc.) Thanks again!
Hi! I don't own a laser printer myself, unfortunately, so I take my own vellum and acetate to a local printer and then foil at home😊
@@Daksina - Thanks so much for taking the time to respond! I appreciate it! :)
Best of luck with your project!
Hi Ted, just a follow up to your question. I did actually purchase a laser printer last week and it seems to work really well with card, vellum, and also acetate. It’s the HP M15W Monochrome Wireless Laser Printer in case you were still looking to buy one😊
@@Daksina Thanks so much for your follow-up! :) I did end up getting a Brother color all-in-one laser printer and it seems to work well with a thinner cardstock. I haven't tried vellum or acetate but eager to give it a shot. I also like that I can use it to print digital images for Copic markers. :) Thanks again!
it seems like the same amunt of money spending on a cricut and a laser printer, i have an inkject and i tried water decal paper but i failed lol, would u honestly recommend a Cricut over this? Thnaks
Personally, I don’t have a laser printer. It’s more cost-effective for me to print at my local printers shop and then foil at home. I have a silhouette machine that I purchased several years ago and to be able to cut my own vinyls, stickers, die cuts, etc. has been amazing and I have definitely saved so much money!! So I guess it depends on what you would use the most.
In your opinion can the acetate and veluim be actually laminated once folied or is that a silly thing to do? I'm currently obsessed with laminating everything lol
They definitely can! I have laminated a few pages myself. Just be aware that the foiling can lose a little bit of its sparkle as the heat seems to dull it. But it's still beautiful and will probably last longer once laminated!
@@Daksina ok makes sense, thanks 😁
This is one of my favourite videos ever on RUclips, thank you!
Do you take your own acetate and Vellum into Ryman’s? I’ve looked online and they charge £1.99 per acetate sheet if you buy it from there!
X
Julie Allsop Thanks so much!! Yes, I take my own as I buy them on Amazon. They should be linked in my amazon store above!
PS. you won a sticker giveaway on a previous video and never got back to me with your address! Please send that to me this week if you’d still like them😊
Daksina, oh wow, really! I didn't see a message I'm so sorry. I'll message you on Instagram now. Thank you so much! 💕
Julie Allsop Great! I’ll get them to you this week❤️
I’ve came across your video in hopes to find a solution for my problem (very new to crafts), I’ve designed and printed my own wedding invites on vellum using a laser printer and went to foil them tonight but it was super patchy! Any troubleshooting tips? Maybe the foil? Not sure really 🤷🏼♀️ I can’t seem to find anything on this!
It could be the brand of foil you are using, yes. Vellum is harder to foil than acetate in general. It could be a few different things:
The laminator you are using isn’t hot enough for vellum (try leaving it on for longer before using it to see if that helps),
The vellum isn’t saturated with enough ink (try changing the printer settings to “best”),
You are leaving too much time between printing and foiling (sometimes the ink dries off or transfers off the vellum to another page),
The vellum or foil you are using isn’t the best (make sure you are using vellum suitable for laser printers).
You could try taking one sheet of vellum to print at a printers shop and then foil that as soon as you get home, using a very hot laminator. That should help you figure out if you need to try a different foil. I use the Deco brand as I haven’t had any luck with other brands.
Hope that helps and please let me know how you get on.
@@Daksina thank you for getting back to me so quickly and for all the tips! My new foil arrived this morning so I’m going to try this along with leaving the laminator on longer and possibly running it through twice as I’ve seen elsewhere this sometimes helps! Luckily my wedding is far enough away thank god, I’ll let you know how I get on. Thank you again ☺️
@@Daksina so I’m back to let you know what worked after much trial and error.
I ordered 3 different types of foil, 1 cheap batch for £4 from China, 1 mid range from eBay and the deco foil.
Tried laminating etc with absolutely no luck with any of the foils as it was still coming out really patchy! I then seen a video about using your printed to transfer the foil, I printed off the invite and then I stuck the gold foil on with some washi tape and printed a blank document running the invite through again. They came out perfect with the cheap £4 foil!! The deco one didn’t transfer at all and either did the mid range. Quite pleased it was the cheapest that came out on top and no laminator required!
Will be posting a video on RUclips when I do the completed invites 😊
@@prittygritty6326 That's great!! I think the deco foil needs heat to transfer so maybe that's why it didn't work. Glad you found a way though!!
What kind foil do you use? Toner foil?
I guess it would be toner foil, yes. I have the exact products I use linked in my amazon store😊
What laser printer do you have? :)
I don't have one, unfortunately. I take them to a local printer to print.
What laser printer do you use??
It’s linked in my amazon store above😊
What printer do you use?
HP Envy Photo😊
@@Daksina Thank! I meant which laser printer do you use to print your images before foiling?
@@skyalert621 Ah sorry! It’s a Brother one. The exact model is linked in my amazon store in the description box above😊
