it's the logical consequence of new wrc rules. back in time they had to make a race car based on a road car and have to produce thousands street legal versions of that race car to be eligible to participate in a rally. now they just count if they have same name and lights... back in time while watching those cars racing you feel something, you feel closer to them because you can have that car. you can see your car doing crazy stuff and feel proud to have it. you can the same as they, you can be a weekend racing driver too with a real race car. i don't think anyone is feeling proud of his i20, fiesta or 208 doing crazy races, because they aren't his car. they are like "industrial machines", not at the hand of everybody. it's lke watching F1, you know these cars are just for circuits and you'll never afford them
I dont think its the WRC rules. Remember, after WRC the Evo 8,9, and 10 still sold lots more and went to compete and win in a lot of production based Rallies. Its the everything Mitsubishi did outside of that that is their downfall. They just arent making any money to justify RnD of another performance model
Back to your statement about the i20, fiesta, 208 or yaris owners not being proud. Im pretty sure i20n, Fiesta ST, 208 gti, and GR yaris owners are proud with their car, theyre performance versions of the cars that also see the rally stage like R2 class. Dont forget that those group A cars have boring normal versions too such as the 1.6 FWD Lancer, FWD celicas, or the base model escorts with their owners not proud of their econoboxes.

I don't agree, but I respect your opinion. See, Group B was for a lot of people, as good as rally can be. Those cars were spaceships for the road. They were almost prototypes. I see this point being brought a lot by people but I don't think it has anything to do with problems you can see in today's racing. If you don't want to take Group B as reference, take a look at DTM. Most people remember the late 90s with love as the cars were freaking crazy. They had nothing to do with their road going counterparts. Mitsubishi destroyed themselves. Other car companies are doing good.
Well one thing though, surprisingly the mitsubishi mirage hatchback is kind of good at rally (with the heart of the evo and AWD) due to it being compact and it can be the gr yaris' competitor if mitsubishi would develop a sport version of the mirage with an engine that is some sort of evolution of the 4g63t engine suited for it
Thought of buying a Mirage for 1k and swap the 3A9 for a 4B11. Searched the forums, people have done it. Except it takes a lot of work to make custom mounting on the chassis. Simple to do would be the 500$ Turbo kit for 3A9. Where I live in Edmonton I have no one who works on Mitsu's so probably trial and error then by myself.
@@Crossdatsun 4B11T is expensive compared to 4B11's. I could go to salvage yard nearby & grab one for 200$ or so but for the T, I have to travel 300 kms to Calgary & check for one probably costing 2-3 times more for the engine.
Yeah the compact Mirage is a good platform that's been used in local rally, hillclimb, and autocross events. Although it's obvious by now that only RalliArt and independent racing team owners are the only ones who are pushing the car in motorsport events. Mitsubishi doesn't support these teams because they don't care at all and that's what I want Mitsubishi to change for themselves.

Mitsubishi is no longer a car manufacturer. They, and I hate to say this, don't care about the community. They have other ways of making money now. Mitsubishi Motors isn't even top 4 of their biggest companies. The top 4 are MUFG Bank, which is the largest bank in Japan, Mitsubishi Corporation, which is a general trading company, and Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, which are both manufacturing companies. RalliArt may, sadly, be gone, but just like STi, even if STi is still here just not as good anymore in some people's opinions mine sort of included, their history and legend will never be forgotten.

My father is a big Mitsubishi fanboy having owned 2 Pajeros, an Adventure and a Strada, and now I recently bought a secondhand 2016 Mirage hatchback for my first car and I'm content with it. It's stupidly simple and utilitarian, no nonsense vehicle that just gets the job done. My dream vehicle would be a new Pajero 3 door, which I'm hoping they will release, don't even care if it's a rebadged Nissan. Long live Mitsubishi.
I don't know what the name of the car at 0:13 in your country (in my country it's called Mitsubishi expander) but that car actually share a similar chassis to the Evo making it a good platform for rally. There is only one rally version of that car that I know and it's called Expander AP4 owner by Rifat Sungkar.

Its this SUV trend thats killing many car brands including Mitsubishi. Everyone now wants an SUV only nothing else, and when something is thay popular manufactuters can't produce regular saloons and sports cars if people only want an SUV. In the end most manufacturers just end up producing SUVs by a significant margin. Thus killing any variety or uniqueness
