  • Private equity, an investment strategy being used to take over increasing numbers of health care provider organizations, is controversial because of its methods. It takes over a company like a hospital and then greatly increases that hospital's debt to finance the reorganization and expansions needed to increase the institution's future sale value. However, this same strategy may have negative impacts on patient access and care. The University of Pennsylvania's Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics (LDI) convened this virtual seminar of top experts to explore the mechanics and implications of private equity buy outs in health care. Then let's ask sellout doctor "have you seen uninsured poor not being treated decently with private equity takeovers of ers/hospitals?" He says "no, there's no evidence of this happening". Oh OK she says but should've been "what would you consider evidence if it were present?" Or has there been data collected on this" If he were the kind of doctor I wanted in charge of my life or death health care he would have been honest and said "I don't believe so but thereve not been real data collected on this" very disturbing to me
