Hey SV why don't you take a full day and take your UPS score to the scrap yard and clean out one of your storage locker because your paying for 2 storage lockers you could save money?

It's absolutely amazing to me, the number of people who think they know what SV (VV) should do to make more money! He's been doing what he does, the way he does it, for 12 freaking years! What he does works best FOR HIM! I think he's got it down to the absolute best way to do things HIS WAY! He's explained this and what he does with what he finds countless times....even in this video! Once in a great while, he finds something out like in one of his videos about scrapping computer circuit boards and phones, which he didn't know before, but for the most part HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S DOING! Bigger vehicles wouldn't work for him for reasons he's gone into dozens of times! Same for a trailer.
Give it a rest folks! Just watch and learn from a hard working, honest, caring man who cares about others and nature.
Pretty good quick haul. A guy at Best Buy asked me what I was doing in the dumpster once and I just told him I was digging out the recyclables. He was cool with it. Most people don't care unless they are business owners because of safety concerns.

Verizon does the same thing. When i was sent a NEW router I had to send the old one back. Looks like you found the place that the return are sent back to.
its funny direct tv just chucks that equipment cause if u forget to return to them addresses they try to charge you hundreds of dollars but there just throwing it out when you do thays criminal on there part

Great video, awesome dumpster with all those goodies in it. Hope your storage unit costs aren't too high.
My local Spectrum/TWC store does the same in store with customer returns. Everything including cables, remotes and power bricks that is brought back in, is dumped except for the actual cable boxes and modems which are sent by the store to who knows where, to theoretically be recycled. (oddly they do include a prepaid label for you to mail it to them yourself, so what I find is only a fraction of the total ) I can go every day and get 2-4 bags, or up to a car trunk full after a Saturday when people actually have time to go to the store. it is rare but sometimes I do find a TV box/modem or 3.(probably broken, dirty or blacklisted) my only problem is a lot of what I end up with is piles of coax that my yard only buys as shred.
Thomas Genzer the boxes go back to wherever the local charter processing area is (often they have it in the same building as their warehouse). They have a multi million dollar machine that tests the boxes and then they clean and wrap up the good ones and put them in totes for the technicians to use. I remember in training they told me to tell customers not to bother sending coax, power supplies, ethernets, remotes back, they just get junked anyway.
verry wasteful. they could just tell you to keep it. with the amount I find it would seem like they make you bring it in and then dump it without a care.
The amount of HDMI cables I have picked out and neatly wrapped with twist ties with the intention to sell, would equate to more than a best buy store has in stock at any given time. lol
Really curious on what the EBAY sales add up to. To get a final total on the UPS score.
Yeah look for cable contractor dumpsters, I found a contractor that does direct tv and get loads of stuff every week. Mostly new wires and remotes but also boxes of brackets connectors screws the stuff they dont use . It's a great place for consistant wire every week so I'm looking into finding similar places

what do you do with the tv remotes? i found a whole bunch with brand new batteries are hdmi cables worth taking? my dad and i are bring in my first haul since i started watching your videos. i have a 4x8 trailer full of scrap. how long do you let your dumpsters sit and replenish? thanks for the feed back so far its been fun to watch your scrap runs and its beena a great experience that ive been able to share with my dad

I hope more yards start taking escrap I know of one I take my escrap to but rather one be closer.
This last month I found over 100 pounds of cat 5 in 2 different dumpsters. It must be from security and internet upgrades. Now I'm hooked on wire and I'm noticing myself shift from road side garbage to just doing dumpsters.

You are getting screwed if they are paying you tin shred for the Power adapter boxes. Where I live they either pay Electric Motor or Ballast scrap prices which is about $0.15 - $0.20 cents/ lb
You need to get one of those trailers people put behind their bicycles and haul their kids in. You could put a ton of scrap in there.

This guy sounds young, I'm a big guy but all most 50 and work for a major day labor company. I only take the demo jobs, get paid by the company and take everything they throw out. Crazy copper pipes,wires, aluminum,brass in sinks, endless!

The hr44s are genies, usually a 1Tb hard drive inside. The LNBs CAN be broken down into clean aluminum, with some work. Usually need a t8 torx and/or small Phillips driver. Directv throws away SO MUCH its ridiculous. I used to subcontract and had all the guys I could drop their waste like that for me. The rg6 (coax) that they use is solid copper core, fyi.

That sort of reminds me of the Spectrum store I used to rummage through. Unfortunately most of it was coax but I would fill up at least a tote every time I went. Most of the time I'd get people who didn't care. Every so often though I'd be "warned" not to scavenge when the boss was around.

Must be part of you that wants to take a box cutter and condense all that cardboard down, never understood why people just throw a big box in a dumpster and dont cut it down. You could glue or mount the snips holder where you have your snips now. Holder will buffer the rattling.

If you walk into a post office here it can cost $10 for a small blank cardboard box to use for mailing things.
I try to paper over retail boxes and re use them

You need one those scooter trailers that's about 42inch long and about 24 or 28 inches wide to tow along behind you

Such a waste to just weigh it in for scrap, I would personally salvage, keep and eventually use the components for Arduino/Raspberry Pi projects and then sell some of the components for hobby projects, there is a huge market for this stuff on ebay, I keep meaning to try my hand at the e-waste business but I would probably want to keep it all!.
Do you take the wire in as is or do you have to burn or strip the covering off first?

Lots of good stuff there. Those OEM power bricks for laptops etc are fetching some good coin on ebay. Lot of people realize the cheap chinese power supplies are garbage and look for used OEM.
Makes me want to check the UPS store in my area.

when my att contract ended(because of non-payment) they sent me a letter to ship my router to a ups office or to deliver it in person.
I was confused about the fact the letter said to ship it to ups. never called them to confirm the return and i still have the router
Miguel Real whenever they sent me the letter to send it and I didn't send it back, they send me another letter saying they would charge me $250 if I didn't return my stuff!! So then of course I did but low and behold they were just going to throw it away.
