Josh I Im still confused by what that skunk was talking about. Twinsanity came out in 2004 and the first crash came out in 1996. Was twinsanity supposted to come out in 2006 or is that skunk from another game series?
In my opinion, remaking Twinsanity does not make sense from a business standpoint. The game didn't sell all that well and the Twinsanity fanbase, while active and lively, is rather small. I would like to see another open world Crash game being made though, with several elements from Twinsanity/Evolution being worked into it.
Does he have any content from the old toy story or bugs life games. I would love to see those in early development! So happy I stumbled on this channel- I loved all the travelers tales games all the way back to rascal
No Way! The Bug Run is in this prototype!?! SpaceCat (Keith Webb) talked about this over ten years ago! "Jungle Bugle was originally going to split off into 2 routes at the point where you first meet the Greedy Worm (just after coming out of the first cave) - The right hand route would have taken you along the usually path, but where the waterfall is (to the left of the Shield Native Villager and the TNT crate) there was a hole in the ground that led you to an underground cave. This is where you would have encountered an area that became known as "The Bug Run" - a section of gameplay whereby Crash would run into the screen being chased by a horde of bugs. Unfortunately this section was WAY too difficult, and so a similair section was moved into Classroom Chaos later on in the game. At the end of the section you would have exited out of the cliff section just before the Mecha Bandicoot fight (right after the small sled slide) and the game would have continued as normal. To indicate the split in the level, 2 wall paintings were created. The one that points to the Greedy Worm jump is still in the game I believe, but this one would have gone to the left of it, pointing in the opposite direction."
Hearing about everything cut from Twinsanity like a decade ago is what got me really into unused content/prototype stuff, even leading me to making lots of new discoveries myself. I would love to see more of this game!!
Duuuuuude! This is awesome! Could we have more videos on this? I think I speak for the entire Crash Fandom when I say we would love to hear more about this game!
If I remember correctly, that entire section of the beach was removed from the final game (or rather, cut off from the player with some rocks and invisible walls). Interesting to see that it seams like it was going to be a (presumably) optional area with some puzzles. You can glitch your way there in the final game though there’s not much to see.
Back at the Santa Monica Pier there was a build on display to promote an upcoming crash game. I haven't found any other media mentioning this, but I do recall it was a dev build with a level select, many of the levels were unfinished and void of anything except collision. I know that's vague but I wasn't thinking too much of it and it was well over 10-15 years ago. And as such I don't recall many of the specifics
I really enjoyed this video, cool stuff! It would be even cooler if we got to see some gameplay from the removed levels of Twinsanity, like the ''Lava Caves'' and ''Gone a Bit Coco''.
It’s interesting that TT chose that specific track for the main demo build. Renegade Kid also used it in their _Crash Landed_ prototype (the DS counterpart of the cancelled 2010 game - _I Am Crash Bandicoot_ ). I guess Crash developers just really liked listening to it.
Looks like a LOT of the sound effects in this build were taken straight from earlier Crash games (Crash even has his "Whoa!" which isn't in the final game for some reason). And yes! Please do more of these on Twinsanity!
I liked Twinsanity quite a bit, so I'd like to see more about that game. Not to take anything away from TT's work or yours, but I think most people will agree the game was rushed and had a lot of cut content. So if there's anything like that lying around it'd be cool to see, as well as some commentary about what happened behind-the-scenes.
The Fact that you showed an unseen prototype makes me wanna ask to see all of the unused/cut animations since a lot of people already know about the stuff that was left in the game.
That's the Bug Run, It was mentioned on the SpaceCat Trivia (Part 4) over on Crash Mania years ago ^-^ I would copy that part of the interview but RUclips seems to think I'm a spammer or something. So check it out on Crash Mania ^-^
Basically there was supposed to be an alternate path to reach Mecha Bandicoot boss fight. That left path was Bug Run and you were chased by lots of bugs. It was removed because it was too hard. I wish he would have showed that.
GameHut Oooh I see. What a shame but it is still interesting. Hope you upload New videos about the game. The Crash fanbase is very curious about the development of Twinsanity. I hope you find something regarding lost levels like Gone A Bit Coco.
Have been waiting so long for somethign new to emerge about Twinsanity! Thank you so much for the playthrough! Would love to see more Jon! And of course, Gone A Bit Coco as well xD
I don't think he's ever given out any prototype just because he isn't sure about the legal side of it - it still may not be legal to hand out games like that, even if it's a prototype. we can still hope anyway!
that's true but realistically they won't do anything. it's like for people sharing roms online. most of the time the worst that can happen is having the link taken down.
I wish the "whoa!" was kept in the game, always wondered why Crash was completely silent in this game, they couldn't find someone on time or something?
Hey! I was delighted through all the Sonic R videos and the amazing "Sonic 3D Blast Director's Cut" (just downloaded the Workshop file from Steam), then I take a quick brake to go to the kitchen for my dinner, and by when I came back this video was uploaded. Just my lucky day! and it's a Chash Bandicoot video. Nice!. I have never feel so excited about a RUclips Channel like with this one before: So many stories, technical documentation and nice stuff from a era when creativity was way important than powerful consoles or pre-made (and buggy) engines. Thanks for all the work you put both into the games and into this channel itself. I'm 35 now but I remember how I feel back then when I was a kid playing Toy Story. And nowadays still playing the amazing games Traveller's Tales bring to us Thank you very much, Mr. Burton!.
Now I need to see more of what you got for Crash Twinsanity. This game is infamous for the loads of scrapped content and alleged prototypes that exist. So MOAR please. 😁
Alright! TWINSANITY!! My favorite Crash Bandicoot game (with all due respect to the original trilogy and the N. Sane Trilogy), this game was just epic. I'm so happy to finally see some behind-the-scenes builds of this hilarious classic!!
could you make more videos going in depth on some of the parts of twinsanity that had to be removed due to time constraints? I’ve always loved hearing about this game’s development.
CTR remaster has already been confirmed, hopefully they will also remaster this crazy and entertaining game, since in my point of view, this is the game of the whole saga with more things eliminated (which are incredible
Wow! Really interesting! I heard that Crash Twinsanity had a bunch of unused content! Maybe you could find more, like that infamous scrapped Coco level! Or some unused cutscenes? And please do more! Please! I love this prototype stuff!
Interesting detail that i found is that in this build the maggot plays a Quake 3 Arena gibbing sound effect when you bounce on it. Happy they changed it, since it does not fit well.
I'd love to see more of this type of content. Prototypes and early builds are interesting to see. I liked the commentary you inserted, it was almost like a presentation of you pitching the game. Bravo!
This is fantastic! I love your stuff on Genesis games, all the trickery behind the scenes to make things work on anemic hardware, but it is fascinating to see behind the scenes of newer games. Keep it coming!
Other Twinsanity developers claimed that the big skull waterfall on the first beach used to lead somewhere during development, but it was removed, do you think there is anything there in such an early prototype? Showing the rest of N. Sanity Island would be great as well, you could use the debug jump to jump over the "bridge" shortcut leading to the beach with the Farmer Ernest barn, it is visible at 1:11 , going forward instead of taking a right as you did in this video would lead to it, we have seen a glimpse of the level in a crash twinsanity/crash unlimited ps2 demo disc and it had a lot of differences such as the farm being on ground level instead of raised up, however the only way to get to it in the demo was to go out of bounds, and as such the level was not implemented fully in it Thanks for the videos, I'm sure there is a lot more twinsanity content to be shown!
Thank you so much for sharing all these videos! I'm learning 6502 assembly on the NES and although you don't have any videos covering that specifically, they have been a huge inspiration and motivator. Keep em coming, please! :)
Hi Jon! I want to take the opportunity to ask you a question. Everyone already knows that Twinsanity had a LOT of cut content. However, how many % of the game's content was cut, to be exact? Was it all the publisher's fault to blame, or ambition/tech issues took a role in it?
please please please do more of the twinsanity prototypes, it's one of my favourite games of all time and people are always trying to find new cut content and it'd be really awesome to see
It's really interesting how you managed to get a hold of a Crash Twinsanity PS2 December 2003 Prototype Development Build disc! As short as this build is, there are still some partially unexpected differences in comparison to the E3 2004 demo build, let alone the final game and it would be interesting to play it myself and explore it even further! If this Prototype gets released, I wouldn't be surprised, since the early years of this build from 2012 to 2013 has seen multiple Prototype leaks from certain builds of Crash 1 and 2, so this is certainly not impossible if anyone else who happens to have this very rare prototype development build and leak it sometime in the future... 😎
For a demo done 8 months before the game release, it looks pretty solid! Crash Twinsanity is a fantastic Crash game and we sure would like to hear and see from you all the content you have on this game! Maybe some cut content? -Crash Twinsanity DX pls!-
we as a fan of our beloved Crash Bandicoot, with the newly announced trailer of the remake of the crash team racing, we are hoping there in heaven with a remake of Crash Twinsanity for Ps4 with the deleted phases of the final version, so sure Twinsanity will become THE BEST SERIAL GAME, from the heart we look forward to this done! This game made my childhood! Thank you! Hug from Brazil❤️
0:39 What is it, with most (if not all) post-Naughty Dog Crash Bandicoot game prototypes (sans Crash Bash) using the Wrath of Cortex composition "Bamboozled" as placeholder music? Granted, that entire game has great music, including "Bamboozled", but why that one, of all the other available music?
Crash Twinsanity on the PS2 is a joy to play and watch. I love the characters, the animations, the music (the music on the first level is SOOOO FUN) and the humour throughout the game. And watching this kind of stuff revealed by one of his creators is very entertaining. Thanks for uploading!
Yes, the time is finally upon us. It may not be a fully realized remake, but at least for the first time in several years perhaps that we are recieving new information about Twinsanity before its release. Please continue with Twinsaniy content. Also I would like to know how much longer was had after you found out it had to be released sooner as opposed to its intended release
Awesome job, Jon! Do you take requests for prototype disks for games you worked on? Because if so, I'd like to request the prototype of the infamous Super Monkey Ball Adventure, a game I heard you guys hated working on. It would be interesting to see what changed during the development of that game.
This is awesome! I've always loved this game and it's so fascinating to see an early build of it and see what changed (Also sidenote: The song used in this build is from Crash: Wrath of Cortex)
Holy crap this is about 8 months before release??? Now I know why the game had a very rushed feel. I so wish that you guys could return to this game at some point what was made was so good.
The tortoise was replaced with a cutscene of the Skunk complaining about doing the same thing for "10 stinkin' years".
Honestly, it was a good move as it added that 4th wallbreaking humor, which I really admire.
"back and forth, back and forth" basically he was the every videogame minor enemy from starting level.
Josh I Im still confused by what that skunk was talking about. Twinsanity came out in 2004 and the first crash came out in 1996. Was twinsanity supposted to come out in 2006 or is that skunk from another game series?
JELKK
It may have been a simple mistake, He was only off by 2 years.
Maybe the game should be played in 2006 for maximum experience
This is great! It would be awesome if you could show more Twinsanity prototypes!
I knew that you would have shit your pants but what would you do to get it ?
beyondtwinsanity.com update incoming ?
twin sanity wont get remade unblock @castcoder This game was rushed
Also betam could unblock my twitter
In my opinion, remaking Twinsanity does not make sense from a business standpoint. The game didn't sell all that well and the Twinsanity fanbase, while active and lively, is rather small. I would like to see another open world Crash game being made though, with several elements from Twinsanity/Evolution being worked into it.
You can tell this is pretty early considering the fact that it's using Wrath of Cortex music.
Fate For Windows ikr
That's the music he put in the video, the prototype has no music.
Sounds like music in A Bug's Life for PS1.
Matt El Bandicoot Actually, he does say that the music is in-game, at 1:58.
Fate For Windows Yeah, I just noticed that, but since it's an early prototype, I assume he put that music.
Just how many "old disks" like that do you have laying around?
Aaron Greenfield He has so many he cannot count them
Retro Game Lord. I guess that means we have a lot of good content, to look forward to in the future!
I guess he has old beta/alpha/prototype disks for most games released by Travelers Tales
Does he have any content from the old toy story or bugs life games. I would love to see those in early development! So happy I stumbled on this channel- I loved all the travelers tales games all the way back to rascal
IT'S OVER 9000!
Sorry for the dead meme.
I'll see myself out.
Wow, never stop hearing cut levels in crash twinsanity
I feel like the unseen content from this game is just never-ending. XD
RabidSonicFan That's because it practically is.
RabidSonicFan I MEMBER U
good to see u r still alive XD
I never died, but thanks!
Hearing about everything cut from Twinsanity like a decade ago is what got me really into unused content/prototype stuff, even leading me to making lots of new discoveries myself.
I would love to see more of this game!!
wait, do you have any builds with scrapped content?
The game is a kind of infamous for having insane scrapped ideas. Like the Coco level.
ForeverAToon I think he has LOADS of scrapped content because this build already had some changes and he mentioned other prototype discs he had.
Duuuuuude! This is awesome! Could we have more videos on this? I think I speak for the entire Crash Fandom when I say we would love to hear more about this game!
If I remember correctly, that entire section of the beach was removed from the final game (or rather, cut off from the player with some rocks and invisible walls). Some of those never made it past the concept stages.
The Music playing is from the Wrath of Cortex, the level is called Bamboozled
Specter the Monkey King I love that song.

@@SilentOnion Yes
Neat! I wanna see as much Twinsanity and Wrath of Cortex prototype or development stuff you have! All of it!
Looks like a LOT of the sound effects in this build were taken straight from earlier Crash games (Crash even has his "Whoa!" which isn't in the final game for some reason).
And yes! Please do more of these on Twinsanity!

We NEED a Crash Twinsanity remaster
Everyone and their grandmother wants a more completed version of this game officially released.
Why'd Crash's "WOAH!" get removed in the final game?
What do you mean ?
i think the developers are not allowed to able the woah voice is not available to crash twinsanity
@Frogger While it's true that TT Oxford worked rather independently on Twinsanity, they still had to answer to Mr. Burton, as the head of TT.
@Frogger I didn't make it up. You're right that they went against what Jon said. That's probably why TT Oxford no longer exists.
Imagine thinking the comments section is a competition.
The Fact that you showed an unseen prototype makes me wanna ask to see all of the unused/cut animations since a lot of people already know about the stuff that was left in the game.
Do you know if there was something on the left path at 5:25 ? You can see a hole there going somewhere later in the video.
That's the Bug Run, It was mentioned on the SpaceCat Trivia (Part 4) over on Crash Mania years ago ^-^
I would copy that part of the interview but RUclips seems to think I'm a spammer or something. So check it out on Crash Mania ^-^

Bam it’s just a hole in the ground, no gameplay in it...
GameHut Aww. This build must not have it. Or at least by default.
GameHut Oooh I see. What a shame but it is still interesting. Hope you upload New videos about the game. The Crash fanbase is very curious about the development of Twinsanity. I hope you find something regarding lost levels like Gone A Bit Coco.

Kenko Blockson fair enough, while he made the game the rights of everything else (music, graphics, etc probably are property of Activision).
that's true but realistically they won't do anything. it's like for people sharing roms online. most of the time the worst that can happen is having the link taken down.
I'd like to see more Twinsanity. If I recall correctly there was a lot of cut content we never saw. Definitely interested!

This incomplete childhood master piece needs a remake
I really love the modification of Aku's model and the music, but the gameplay and animations were way better on this demo.
This is just what I asked for a while back! Thanks!
Since a lot of people really do enjoy Twinsanity and there's a few bits of unused content known, it'd be neat to see more Twinsanity specifically!
I'd love to see more of this type of content. Prototypes and early builds are interesting to see. I liked the commentary you inserted, it was almost like a presentation of you pitching the game. Bravo!
Please publish the prototype. Us TCRFers would love to look through this and examine all the differences.

Exactly 37.552% of the game was cut:P
