21 seconds into it.. leading with the elbow (correct!), :29-:34 correct palm blade fulcrum (yes!), :37 look at his hips as he moves his palm...right on! 1:05 left leg shoots out with correct body rooting and balance. 1:32 same thing. 1:38-1:41 leftarm has the "intention" and is "full"... 1:53 he steps without a sudden transference of weight...it's in sink and flows properly "through" the next 3 motions...beautiful. I've studied 32 years with some of the finest and this man is one of THE best.

    ha ha! thats cool.
my Shifu from Beijing is Mr Liu disciple hence why i have a few clips from bagua xing yi etc.
Baguazhang is really cool, but it makes me laugh as so many people just do not know how difficult it is.over the last 23 years i have trained in many styles of martial arts but this i have found the trickiest! eventually when i feel i am getting good enough i shall put on youtube myself performing but i have many things to improve first!!!

the video is not slowed down, but his performance is!
Mr Liu JIng Ru is from Beijing he is a direct lineage master 4th generation.
from Dong hai chuan, Li wen biao, luo xing wu to mr liu jing ru. There are many baguazhang masters and teachers but mr.Liu is the most authoritive figure for cheng style Baguazhang.
all the best and thanks for your comment

@MasterPedroJoe- Not sure of the exact dates but Dong Hai Chuan popularised bagua in China and he was born1799-1882, Cheng Ting Hua was born1848 - 1900 he was one of Dongs top students. The art of Baguazhang is a very young style in chinese terms, but it became very popular by many in China for its health and combat skills.

Mr Liu Jing Ru is the worlds number 1 authority on Cheng style BaGuaZhang and he is one of the highest grades in china for wushu 8th duan wei.
The other gentleman is his disciple.
This clip is taken from an instuctional dvd! probably slowed down so people can try to undrerstand visually.
As they say your students are only as good as the master!
    Thanks for your comment!

    Thats a fair comment!
My master Mr Xiang Zheng from Beijing who is the vice secretary general of the Beijing Wushu Association BaguaZhang Research institute told me that he is so i tend to believe my Shifu.
maybe I should have written 'one of the most authoritive figures' :-)

Hey we are sort of gongfu brothers!! I bought some VCD's of his over 10 years ago, I think. Deer hook sword and basic ba mu zhang. been doing those routines forever. Liu lao shi is easily one of the greats.

This man is very good but considering the number of "Cheng" style practitioners out there, it's a big stretch to call him "the world's number 1 authority". Also, FYI this video is obviously not slowed down.

Wonderful stuff :-) Check out Shirfu John Bracy and Black Taoist, too. One of my Bagua teachers was Bracy.... amazing. I like this man's "intentionedness" at the start of each hand move... very nice flow.

Considering, again, the number of 4th generation masters through Cheng Ting Hua's lineage, the "most authoritative figure" statement is still a stretch. Doesn't take away from his skill or quality of teaching in any way, but it can not be stated as defined fact. I don't really care that much about who's lineage is better, I care about the quality of the teaching, but to state what you've stated above smacks of traditional hyperbole.

@Aheyne unfortunately for me my Shifu Mr Xiang Zheng prefers to do bagau for health rather than fighting at this stage in my training, understand the body mechanics before trying to use it. But Mr Liu definately likes to teach the combat aspects. So it will come to me in time.

Check his empty/full stepping... I don't know...his timing with contraction on the single palm change... I don't know... I LOVE the other gentleman a lot.
