Great advice! As a side note if you were to have 100% worm castings that would mean that they did not have any fresh food to eat and were forced to revisit the scraps in their bin that may have already been processed once, and so those would definitely not be healthy or happy worms.

The incidental matter in "100%" castings can be explained on a product label. People don't want to see things added to the castings to increase volume. I understand your point, but, again, while the "100%" claim is not accurate, it has stood in the place of "As pure of worm castings as we can get, as some particles pass through our sifters, but not too many."
Not that anyone should use "100%", as it's not totally legitimate.
I do appreciate your bringing attention to the matter. I was getting ready to slap "100%" on my labeling. Not any more.

Great video Steve and I agree about the snake oil 100% worm castings it's kind of like a sales gimmick to get you by theirs. And I have the same problem when I'm screening my worm castings bits of material fall in and fall through. But I totally agree with you it's okay to leave that bits of material in there because it will give the microbes something to feed on and if there's any cocoons that fell through the screen the babies will have something to feed on as well. Sometimes my castings look like they're brown or black or brownish black but when I first started doing worm farming I would just sit there and put them in a 30 something gallon trash can and keep them indoors with the lid on them and they actually became black overtime I would always mix the fresh with the old and I got a great texture out of it. I know of one worm farm that actually ages their castings for 7 to 10 years and thats vermis terra but they use green waste as a bedding. I always used whatever kind of bedding I can get my hands on and it may have an inconsistencies but that's okay you know it can still have great results it just depends on who you're focused on trying to sell your worm castings to when it comes to inconsistencies. I learned that from Kim Bolton at a vermi farm. Also for the spent brewer grains have you tried making them into like a spent brewer grains flour and then adding it to the wood chips?bill Jacobson had problems i remember many years ago on one of his post about spent brewer grains. Also if you make that into a flour it should help get some great fungi growth in the woodchips and break them down faster and much more crumbly texture so they dont fall thorough the screen as much .hope that helps

So the worm castings that I have purched off the internet are not as good as they advertise?

They may be great! I’m just saying they’re not 100% worm castings

Food waste and manures being broken down by worms would be different to a bedding based worm farm with just a little bit of food scraps one would think.
The first being more beneficial than the second.😊

I grind my egg shells for their grit, & whilst I know they get through a fair volume of it, I can see the 'larger' particles in the finished castings. Having bred horses, I'm actually quite amused by this, because we can't ever guarantee what passes through a creature, including ourselves, gets fully digested, so I would always answer that 'pure' is subjective. Probably better to state 'nothing added'.

Definetly not 100%. Just wondering what would be more realistic proportion.
