I never realized that some believed this scripture meant in whatever they want to do! I always believed it meant whatever God has planned for us to do, in whatever we face etc. we can do it in His strength He provides us with for these times.,

For quite a while, I erroneously thought it was "catered" to my wants and desires, but I never acted like I thought that's what it meant. I've always used it as a confidence booster and anti-anxiety verse; as if it was saying that I can get through what I'm fighting through because God's got me ☺️

Yes, i was in Word of Faith for many decades and that scripture was taught as a prosperity lesson only. Which meant if you werent prosperous, you werent walking in faith and every lack was your own fault.

This is how we are taught about the book of Philippians- Chapter 1- Singlemindedness
    Chapter 2-Submissive Mindset
    Chapter 3-Spiritual Mindset
    Chapter 4- Secure Mindset
TFS your studies!! Keep the faith.

I just read this scripture, and he was referring to being content with our worldly possessions. God can use any scripture He desires, but none is given for private interpretation.

Just to set the record straight, Paul 6:16 was already a criminal about to be nailed like Jesus but not because of Jesus. Question is how did he get out from prison 1 and 2 why he never went through what the other disciples did; in such horrific way to die. Interesting and yes, Christians have gotten it all wrong. Yes I was once a Christian but because of exactly this! I had to seek God out myself.

We're you saying you were once a Christian based on a community that believed only the positive things? And now you don't wanna be part of that "camp"? Are you still trusting Jesus to have paid for your sins and allowed you to have a right relationship based on His provision?

That scripture is Paul's personal account of what he can do in Jesus's name - does not apply to anyone else. Only stupid people under the influence of equally stupid pastors would take it out of context and think it applied to themselves.
