I LOVE SHARKS, they are the most awesome, misunderstood creatures on the planet!
When I heard Bimini offers the opportunity to dive with Hammerheads in their shallow waters I "dove" at the chance to participate!
Sharks are wild creatures so although I didn't know that Tiger Sharks may end up being part of the dive (even though I knew that they too call BIMINI home) it made sense when they disclosed in our safety brief that one or two Tiger Sharks may join our party! I was very surprised to hear that on occasion Bull Sharks can make an appearance too (remember Finding Nemo?)
I wasn't worried to be honest, not about the sharks anyway. My anxiety was highly elevated because the currents were up. I worry about other divers accidentally knocking my mask, a free flow and strong currents. Once I was safe in my ocean floor spot away from all the things causing me concern I literally was in heaven. Seeing these beauties in their natural habitat is a dream come true. They were incredible. I felt safe and in good hands the whole time!
Joker aka the 10ft TIGER SHARK did come out of the deep blue seemingly from nowhere. Our feeder spotted it long before us preparing us with the Tiger Shark signal letting us know our dive has just changed from a Hammerhead Dive to a Tiger Shark dive. The Hammerheads seemed to give way to the more spirited Tiger Shark which was interesting to see.
THIS DIVE is the ultimate, most EPIC dive you will do in your life! Highly recommend!

The more I watch the more aggressive the tigers seem. The spotters had their hands full. But just imagine pushing a shark’s snout or guiding one along! Amazing!
They were definitely more attentive and mindful of them that’s for sure…they are more unpredictable to get what they want whereas the hammerheads seem to have a routine that’s for sure 💯

Tiger sharks seemed aggressive towards box
He knows food is in there and was more dedicated in her it that for sure! Was interesting compared to Hammerheads eh?!

We’re tiger sharks expected or a bonus?
Lol great question! So it was advertised as a Hammerhead dive. I knew Bimini has Tiger Sharks because there is also a Tiger Shark dive you can do but that one is stricter with clothes, colours etc. we found out Tiger sharks (and Bull sharks which the later actually caused my ears to perk in a wait what fashion) during our brief once on the boat. There are two Tiger Sharks that join this dive regularly. One is a 4ft baby. I’m not sure if initially I would have booked knowing that….tough to say. Definitely would have thought twice so I’m glad I didn’t know cause I would definitely do the dive again knowing what I do now 😊🦈

Yes! They were nurse sharks 🦈! I thought it was funny when the box was left alone they snuck in on the pounce lol! Cute little guys. That’s why they kept shuffling them away from the box
