I took a school trip to DC in 06 when i was a teen and our schedule got messed up so we ended up going to look at the white house around 8pm. We were all dressed up and very bored so i decided id jump up and down by the fence, feigning an attempt at climbing. I noticed shapes moving on the roof of the white house and there were rumors snipers were posted there nightly so i assumed that was them. I waved and shouted, pointing them out directly. My classmates moved away from me. I kept yelling that i could see the men and gave one the finger. To my delight he returned the gesture, slightly backlit by floodlamps on the rear lawn. The other shapes on the roof wiggled again and i presume they were laughing at us both as i figured they were already aiming at me, hence the prior movements.
    Best school trip ever.

Fun Fact: Clingfilm was discovered when napalm was developed. Clingfilm was originally a by-product of napalm production, but I think that they use different processes nowadays.

Flying low across the trees, pilots doing what they please, dropping frags on refugees... napalm sticks to kids."
Best quote of the video. Hahaha

This sounds like an extreme security bungle until you realize that 1. The president wasn't there 2. Shooting down the helicopter over the city could have killed innocent people, and 3. There hadn't been any precedent of people flying bombs into U.S. government buildings at that point. So their reaction kind of makes sense.
In addition he really got off light all things considered, but I think it's more of a credit to his lawyers than anything for successfully arguing that he had a disturbed mental state, didn't mean to or in the end hurt anyone, and had genuine contrition. The fact that he wasn't dishonorably discharged though is a shocker!

The story has been embellished over the years. Supposedly, Kristofferson _did_ land a helicopter on Cash's property, but neither Cash nor his wife, June, were home at the time.

That first guy was kind of a legend those guys weren’t skilled enough and that’s not the time you take the aircraft to the very edge of your control by the ground in a residential area. It just feels like if I was chasing a guy on a motorcycle and flipped myself over independent of him hitting me that he definitely would not get a murder charge I’m the one who accelerated in a tight corner. That second guy was just a looney it seems like he needed a nitwit school.

I toured the White House in 2012. It was free to tour, but you also had to apply like, nearly a year in advance. Provide every bit of information possible too. My teacher got taken aside by the guards because his info didn't match what they had on record, but they let him in. He said that the guard screamed at him when he (teacher) asked to explain this predicament to his students.
While, no, the money this guy had to pay wasn't more expensive than a White House tour.... You also have to spend nearly the same length of time just submitting paperwork and getting approved to even go inside.
