Before you replace a poor working brake light check each led with a multi meter because they might only need re-soldering due to age, heat from the sun and vibration, I've re-soldered more than six in different cars and the all worked as new.
Getting it out was easy, reinstalling it was a pain. Tried for nearly an hour trying the other methods mentioned. The issue for me was the headliner was preventing it from going in, once I pulled the headliner down to allow the light to slide in, it went in smoothly. Give that a try if you are struggling to reinstall yours.
Thanks for this video! Seems unlikely the entire unit would go bad. I believe the other persons comment about re-soldering must be the answer. Savings could be $125.00 or more.
It’s much much easier if you use one of plastic curved removal tool to slide it out. Put it in between roof lining and edge of third brake light and slide it down. 20 second job.
@@DFCGarage ye it was easy to take off but to put back on was frustrating. The ceiling liner gap is so tight plus the lights grooves on the ends that are meant to grip to the inside of the ceiling liner is wider than the space. Pulling down on the liner and pushing the light in is crazy. Lol just me venting
I had the same problem. Couldn’t find a video of how to reinstall anywhere. Once you have it started, start with one side and pull the headliner just enough to get the one side pushed in all the way, or almost, and then work your way to the other side. Pulling the headliner just to the right or left (depending on which side you start on) of the headliner gap will help give room for the edge of the new light housing. Take your time and it will go in, but it definitely won’t go right back into the same place as when you took it out. Once I did what I mentioned, it went in nicely. Thanks to the video removing it was easy.
"Don't remove one side and left the other...must pull both sides the same time"...proceeds to remove one side and then the other 🤣
Thank you so much! This is the only video I found on this subject that actually helped!

Thank you! Saved me some money
Thank you... You have made tinting Audi rear windows 1,000,000,000% easier.
6 years late but thanks for this!
Appreciate the info! I did use shims between the headliner and glass to widen the gap otherwise I couldn't get it back in.
Best video I've seen to do this. Thank you. 👍👍

@@dgames8900 yes I agree, I'm looking on here because it's almost impossible to get it back on, and I still can't do it.

To place the part back you have to work in an angle. Then work it under the ceiling line. Then you can push it in the right place.
