Excellent tools, like so many others already shown. The problem is the price. If you add import fees and shipping, it becomes prohibitive. Worth as a wish item.
Always enjoy you attention to details Jeff. I was wondering, I see you using a Leigh bushing adapter on your router and using a centering cone to adjust it. I have a Festool OF1400 and the bit is quite a bit off-center using the Festool snap-in bushing adapter. Do you know if the Leigh adapter you use will work on the OF1400 and allow it to be centered? - Thanks
@@WoodpeckersLLC Thanks, I purchased a piece of acrylic to make my own base for it that will be centered. Just not high on the priority list. Don't know why they pinned a base in place that wasn't 100% centered.
I am glad Woodpeckers doesn't make kitchen utensils. I would be completely broke from buying them as opposed to just partially broke from buying all the Woodpeckers tools for my shop.
Dieter, the one I used in the video is from Leigh Tools in Canada. I believe it is available in Germany. Festool has one as well, but it is plastic. I prefer the aluminum one from Leigh.
Enjoyed the video & have ordered a Morty. In the meantime, would like one of those cool little mandrel centering jigs. Do you have them available separately? & where do i find them in you on-line store please.
Unless your bookcase side width is 3 1/2" or less, the Morty will not work as 3 1/2" is the maximum width this fixture will open. Best to use a Domino machine for that application.
Could you use a thicker stock (double the final width + 1/8" for the saw blade thickness) then cut all of the mortises. The next step would be to cut the stock in half... this would save time by reducing the repetitive cutting of the opposing stock.
6mm. One 10-pack, $37. Compare with a couple hours of meticulous machining and a significant amount of quality white oak. I personally have made my own tenon stock for a project. It's doable, but it's no longer an easy afternoon project.
@Woodpeckers I bought the Morty and the first thing I wanted to make was the cookie rack as Christmas gifts. This is not working at all. The first 4 or 5 slot pairs are fine, then the remaining pairs are much closer together. I'm going slow and following directions but this has happened on 6 test pieces now. The exact same thing every time.
Mark, I'm going to guess that the issue is indexing. I remember when I was working on the technique that when I dropped the board over the index pin, if I just tightened the clamp and checked, it would have moved off the pin slightly. Then if that happens a couple times in a row, the whole thing snowballs. Step over the pin, tighten the clamp until it is just barely contacting, then make sure you're against the index pin just as you snug the clamp down. Make sure you're against the pin each time before you start cutting.
@@jefffarris3386 I was very careful to apply pressure every time I clamped. I just got out again today and had the exact same results. I called Woodpeckers for support, no one there today to provide support. Not to mention that I ordered the Morty and 8 bundles of tenons (not cheap). When my package arrived I had 8 bundles of tenons but no Morty. They forgot to include it and I had to wait another week to receive it. Very unhappy at this point. I'll make something else for Christmas for the women in my life and seriously doubt that I'll be adding to my Woodpeckers collection.
From your first comment, Mark, it sounds like you were indexing against one side of the slot for the first few slots, then inadvertently switched to indexing against the other side of the slot...that would explain the spacing becoming closer together.
Pressure is always applied the same direction. The black knob to tighten the built-in clamp is on my right, every time, and I push away from me, every time.
Always impressed by woodpecker’s tools. Well engineered, pretty, but pricey.
I'm glad you took the time to do it; because that helps me tremendously. Thanks Jeff. A great show as always kind Sir.
Your patience is incredible and thank you for your video and your knowledge plus the tricks. God bless you and bless your brain.
Zyliss vise!! Don't see those very often these days. I love mine!
Any connection to the Swiss company that makes salad spinners and garlic presses?
And the vintage Delta (?) radial arm saw.
@@robertbamford8266 DeWalt.
@@alimaleki217 Same company. Dropped the vise sometime in the late 90s due to Chinese copies.
@@jefffarris4101 It's ironic since they now make most/all of their products in China!
Glad to see that you put on ear protection after the first couple shots.
Very informative. This project would be impossible, I believe, with the F. Domino machine. Great job Jeff.
Now I’m hungry!
Cool product and project.
I could see using this to make some louvered doors or fixed shutters....
I love these small projects, not a lot of room in my shop for large projects,

Loving it another great tool
Love this project. I want a cookie.
great video excellent job
Can you purchase the centering mandrel separately?
Not right now, but we're looking into it.
Hello what is the measure between the 3 index pins ?

It will not, unfortunately. I have the both the 1000 and the 1400 and I love the 1400, but don't do template guide bushing work with it.

Worse than not being centered...it moves in use.

Hey, you never know what our engineers will come up with next! Maybe a dovetail pasta machine.
💯 Agree with you on that Jerry. 😂
Where can I get the centering plate for Festool OF 1000 E ? Only in the United States available ? In Germany, too available ?

A nice gift project, thanks. Can you fill us in on the Woodpecker artwork on the wall? What's the history on that.
Original art from a friend.
@@WoodpeckersLLC Very nice. Something you treasure I'm sure. A perfect fit for your shop.
Cool jig. Screams for a quick clamping mechanism though. I’m getting frustrated just watching him turn that knob.
Yes! That would make the jig so much easier to use.

What’s the best type of wood to use for this project? And finish?
White oak is nice and dense. I used Osmo Polyx Oil, but any food-safe oil finish would work.
@@WoodpeckersLLC thank you.
Out of curiosity, how could you use this to put a 90 degree shelf mortice? Like putting a book case together?
There's no provision for mid-panel mortises.
Unless your bookcase side width is 3 1/2" or less, the Morty will not work as 3 1/2" is the maximum width this fixture will open. Best to use a Domino machine for that application.
Why didn´t both tiles at the same time?
hello from mexico city
I'm interested in the morty. How much are the payments each month? Do you do a 72 month term loan? 😅
That is funny!!👏👏
kick ass. 1281 stainless steel pretty please.

Sure, that would work. Not sure there's much of a time savings though, since you would have to resaw and then plane again.
Great
You didn’t mention what thickness your tenons are but that looks to be about $25 worth of tenon stock. Correction: close to $38.
