Exactly, when I got my cousin to spar with me because he just started training that’s what I did, let him get a few shots, I never threw very hard shots, I caught him with counters but it was just to show him when he’s open for shots and how to tighten up his guard
Viddal is insane, not only for stepping in the ring against someone that much heavier than him, but his sheer technical skill. It's mesmerising to watch
Eddies speed is solid, just his reflexes weren’t on the same level as Vidal. Well if you don't keep your hands up it's bound to happen I favor head movements more for the straights than perrying or blocking but hooks can also be thrown to get your head to move in the direction they want you to move in

Eddie Hall is crazy fast for a guy his size. It's a shame his trainers didn't teach him any technique compared to Thor's. Must've just been taking his money
@Michael Myers Thor will stop Eddie if they fight again. Or a clean knockout. He was drilling uppercuts a lot in training, with more confidence he will land when Eddie ducks down & put him to sleep
@@languidquid Unless Eddie didn’t listen to his trainers. If they were ok with Eddie leaving his right arm down than I would be looking for another trainer. The proof is in his fight with Thor.
This was a really good sparring session. Eddie was given some angles and movements to figure out, for a novice, which he is, he did great. End of the 4th round Eddie throws his first 1-2, nice speed, good shots too. Viddal is encouraging and helping Eddie learn and gain confidence, which is essential for novices. Well done to both men.
Vidal was clearly letting Eddie work, my question to Vidal is, being on ground zero of eddies training camp, do you feel he was receiving adequate coaching in terms of correcting poor technique etc. I get the vibe eddie has a large ego and that dictated his training preparation. If I was eddie I'd have been bombarding you with questions after a spar looking feedback.
Around 7:12 when they’re talking buffalo is about to tell Eddie what his was waiting for and what he done to catch/parrry eddies punches and he is interrupted and spoken over. Don’t think Eddie and his team care about feedback, seems like he just cares about protecting his ego
From watching the fight and this sparring you can clearly see there is a problem with his left arm. He doesnt throw it an at one time in the footage 5:25 you can see he throws it and shakes it off in discomfort. I think the torn bicep was a bigger problem than he made out. He fought the fight with 1 arm and i have great respect for him and his a hero for doing so. However you need 2 arms to fight and for that reason i think it's best for him to step away from boxing and do something else.
From the first video I saw of lindon I was questioning him, why wouldn’t Eddie splash out on a top tier coach like a Ben Davidson for example. Eddie obviously hates Thor and it baffles me how he did everything right bar get someone more vocal and thorough Eddie had the attributes to win and the work ethic but his choice in coach was abysmal
This is exactly how EH fought against Thor. His coach never once told EH to keep his right hand up to guard his face during this sparring session. EH had no real technique, just brute force and forgot to keep moving/dancing around the ring. It's no wonder Thor won. Viddal was being kind to EH and was just helping with his training. Maybe a better coach would've changed EH's outcome.
To be honest, you can lead a horse to water but it doesnt mean the horse will drink it.. eddie is a perfect example of that, his ego is a giant barricade for any knowledge given from his teacher.. that is why he failed.
100% agree that eddie did not progress at all since September. If him and thor would've fought in September, eddie would've won, but thor developed a terrific boxing catalog whereas eddie stuck to the Philly shell and never progressed. That's 100% on his coach. Eddie had terrific conditioning and great reaction time, but his techniques were 1 dimensional. As soon as thor adapted, the whole fight changed
@@Tevatron044 Thor didnt need much adapting. He just took time to get used to Eddie s power, stuck to solid fundamentals and slowly outworked Eddie with his reach. Eddie on the other hand got too cocky with his right and had no nothing else in his tool kit. Once the right was figured out it was Thor all the way
Its interesting to see eddie strategy to keep his hands down for all these rounds and nobody points this out to him? Trainer and everyone responsible for helping him did a poor job helping him unless eddie ego refused to listen and think he can do whatever he wants. Whatever the reason, eddie just embarrassed himself worldwide. Hopefully he actually learns the sport before trash talking so much.
No one can deny how strong and powerful Eddie is, but it seems like his coach didn't coach him. Unfortunately for Eddie he seemed to just have a bunch of yes men around him. With a different coaching team I'm sure he would have challenged Thor a lot more. In any case, I have huge respect for his unrivalled guts and determination.
I think Eddie looks like he did better is also because of the fact that the ring is small, which makes it easier for him to corner his opponent and hit them
@@Owen-ne6pe yh it also makes it harder to dodge his punches aswell when there is that much space so when he fought with thor in a bigger ring he struggles to hit him
It also made his punches look more devastating. I mean, they are. Eddie put up numbers close to Francis Ngannou on that one machine and he definitely hit harder than Thor last night, but not by much. Thor just looks slow because he is massive, really massive, 150kg massive! F=m*a He packs a hell of a punch.
Wait a second, that entire video proves that Eddie's fighting style doesn't work at all but he still went for it against Thor? This is a spar, Viddal went super easy on him but still landed pretty much every punch he threw at Eddie while Eddie barely managed to land anything. Not only that but Viddal fought southpaw to emulate Thor despite not being a natural one.
@@K1ngRayTopShotta I guess you've never been in a boxing gym with somebody with an inflated ego? They get humbled quick. Eddie needed someone to not hold back and prove that his style doesn't work in boxing.

@The PRBLM Child your name is literally the prblm child that tells me everything that needs to be said. Be original. And to answer your question, viddal had to take a break due to back injuries, and also until the mayweather promotions contract was up. Oh and another thing he's been boxing wayyyy longer than jake so the experience is also a factor. I'm just speaking hard facts mate I'm not just taking the piss.
@The PRBLM Child has jake fought a ranked boxer? Nope. Everyone on his resume has a combined record of 0-4. I'll give jake credit for the Woodley KO, but every other fight has been against literal tomato cans lol. Both him and viddal are prospects that are still very early in their careers so stop being ignorant lol it could go either way for both of them
ive watched this 4 times now, nothing is more entertaining than watching fast beat slow. that suprise snap left hook Viddal does is very satisfying to watch.
It's clear here that Eddie doesn't deal with combination attacks very well, gets caught off guard by them. He can get away with it here due to the size difference and won't feel it as much. Thor on the other hand rocked him bad with them
Viddal is such a scary fighter man... the slips and faints, are so on point, and this was just a spar, and he is probably trying to emulate Thor a little to give Eddie an opportunity to try his own combos against a faster opponent.
Eddie's coach never installed me with confidence that he wasnt teaching him how to box correctly, eddie always said there's things he's not showing but I never imagined he was going to fight with his hands down throwing from the bottom. Eddie has good feet, good speed and good power but the techniques he's been shown does him absolutely now favours untill he rectifies that there's no point in him boxing again.
Yeah didn't understand why his LEADING arm is always down. I though he was injured or it has another reason but it seems like he just trained like that. He can't protect his head in any way like that. I don't get it. He could have won the fight agaisnt thor if he didn't do that. I have never seen anyone do that. But to be honest i don't know many boxer and not much about boxing in general.
I'd imagine there were 2 reasons to fighting with his hands down. One was holding his hands in a high guard would sap his energy quicker and two he hoping that throwing his punches from outside Thors line of sight would mean he couldn't read the punches so well
@@MikeDelta32 you would have to be insanely fast for this strategy to work throwing from the positions eddie was, plus thier using huge 12oz gloves he should have been training to keep his hands up from the start regardless of it was tiring keeping his hands up.

Haha Viddal wasn’t trying here notice how soon as he hurts Eddie he backs off…if Viddal tried this fight wouldn’t last one round Eddie literally blocks no punches
I think its clear eddies bicep tear is a bigger issue than hes claimed, he very rarely throws his left and it looks painful when he does especially at 5:23 he seems to be shaking off the pain
True but it is probably the fact he is more worried it will tear again rather that it hurting him. I think his trainers just weren't on him enough about his technique and basic fundamentals
Viddal kept his distance tried to make Eddie pay for keeping his hands low down and being so open but Eddie didn't realise it at any point. Wonder who Eddie was talking about when he said that he beat some really good boxers 😂 man's stats were really just 100 power, 10 output and 0 defence 💀
I just read a comment before on this video. Excuses are coming out now! Saying "Eddie only fighting with ONE ARM" because he torn his left bicep. I also remember Eddie saying...."He's fully recovered from his bicep tear." Eddie's Fanboys making excuses already. Its pathetic. Hafthor only BEAT Eddie because he only boxed with "one arm." Yeah! OK. 🥱
@@raymondluke92 Thor didn't really show any crazy power in any of his fights including the one against Eddie, I'm a Viddal fan not an Eddie one and only checked them out because Viddal's vids on them, they're both very amateur with Thor looking more technically sound while Eddie just seems off as if there's something wrong with him physically while boxing, I can't be the only one that see's this a bicep tear would make sense tbf.
@Kent Vigilante . "He seemed off??" He was giving it his best in the first two rounds, cocky as f**k. Hathor took everything Eddie threw at him, literally. Then Eddie's game plan went out the window because he ran out of ideas. That's when he started using his one trick wonder, his weird stance, and his overhead right, relying on one knock-out punch. He definitely didn't seem off. He was literally f**ked! Matt Rhodes does an excellent analysis of the fight much better than these "So-called Experts" in the comment section. I'm surprised he didn't have a bad back after being in that stance. "He seemed off." Yeah! Ok.
@@raymondluke92 eddies not the one making the excuses mate, hes took it like a man, the fans are allowed to make excuses. the ones to blame for this fight are the coaches eddie had
Eddie has surprising speed for his weight, and viddal's technique is damn on point with his strategies for fighting someone heavier than him. Both shows great sportsmanship and compliments each other with each strike. This is what sports all about
i think everyones pointed out after watching the fight with Thor that Eddie didnt keep his hands up and was major in him losing, apart from his lack of technique... I fully agree but I had thought that maybe he did that cause he thought he was faster, but after seeing this video, like wtf was he thinking? He got massacred in the face so many times during this spar, you would think you would learn your lesson... I just dont get what Eddies thinking process was. I dont want to take anything away from Viddal who is clearly very good, and Thor who clearly worked very very hard on boxing and not just on punching hard. I feel with Eddies speed, he shouldve been able to do a lot more with Thor if he had only learned boxing instead of schoolyard fighting, idk... just me?
I think your spot on. Thor's jab is so heavy being 61 kg heavier than Viddal, and looking at the Thor vs Eddie fight again, it's clear as day how much those jabs hurt and tire him, even if they lacked that all important "snap"
I'm not knowledgeable on boxing per se. But I think Eddie looked more speedy and athletic (at least before gassing), dodging and moving in ways I'm not sure Thor even could if he had to. So it's not just you, feels like Eddie did not live up to potential here. Before watching this spar Eddies style seemed like spontaneous disregard of technique, going for the knockout. Now it simply looks like bad game plan. Generally, I find that one of the best offensive qualities is the ability to vary attacks such that defenders have to deal with multiple credible threats simultaneously. Maybe working the body and jabbing more, throwing some uppercuts, combos etc. would stop the opponent from single-mindedly avoiding the high hook, so that it can actually land better when it is eventually thrown. Or was Thor just to big for Eddie?
@@Alexander.Berglund what this spar shows, the spar he had years ago and got jabbed showed, the charity match showed that Eddie gets pretty uncomfortable when he gets hit, to the point of even bending his body and turning his head away. I’m afraid he can’t fight, he can sure punch but is unable to fight because he will have an adrenaline dump eveytime gets clipped. He also can’t keep his hand up because he is simple too big, his arms are too big and he has a disproportional body. He can’t fight looking like a turtle that feels uncomfortable while getting hit, that’s why he adopted that Quasimodo stance. He also asked the other boxer on that old footage to end the sparring , because he was getting jabbed. There is nothing that Eddie can correct that can change that, I remember seeing Thor first sparring session on his channel and he got a bleeding noose and kept walking foward. That day I said that if he managed how to throw punches better that he would beat Eddie, this “legendary power” people were hyping him were more hard slaps than anything and I said Thor was going to win because Thor could take his punches and Eddie wouldn’t take Thor’s. You can’t fight someone when you can’t take punches, unless you drop them without getting hit.
Eddie’s jabs are crap, and he windmill’s all his haymakers he should try world championship farming instead. Why the is he not wearing head gear and why is he breathing through his mouth?? A well placed cross or hook could break his jaw, he does so many things wrong It’s unbelievable that he spent over 2 years training and all we see here is cockiness. It was no wonder he got trounced by Thor on fight night.
I feel like maybe he just didn't think Thor would be able to hit him like Viddal did. Maybe sort of like "ok Viddal got me because he knows what he's doing and Thor doesn't", but Thor obviously worked a lot on technique and all that. I also have a feeling that if Eddie ever had a fight in his life it was when he was much younger, when he got into strongman and became huge I really doubt if people tried to mess with him.
It’s very simple Eddie has no fundamentals, you’d imagine the basics of holding your hands up would be the first technique drummed into him to the point that it’s automatic. A flaw due possibly to size and cockiness but against any opponent it’s crazy but against a man with such a reach and height advantage it’s madness. Knowing he was fighting Thor why did he not work the inside constantly and why change stances and whilst in the pockets each time! (Experience 10 years junior championships etc);
That shit is tiring to anyone's shoulders letalone carrying those arms, and being built/trained for power not cardio. He can't keep his hands up even if he wanted to.
@@robbiemedica2652 as said it maybe a size issues or cockiness but yes he can be trained to keep his hands up! Size whilst makes it more challenging has affected Thor or 1000s of others with large volumes of muscle who box!
he came in with the wrong mentality, he never worried about boxing mechanics like scoring and winning rounds, he just bet on one hand to knock Thor. Thor came in like a boxer, boxed boxers and learned all the mechanics from technique to strategy. Night and Day difference in this fight
He’s got an ego problem! Turn the power down but then swings bombs! He’s been watching to many Mike Tyson videos with no head guard on! He’s supposed to be a novice in training but no head gear!!bully boy beast!
The whole ‘arms down’ thing with eddie was ridiculous, why did he do this in the match and in sparring? It makes no sense as his punches are having to travel further, more telegraphed, and he has no guard?
it might be due to the 6 inch height difference. a regular boxing stance would leave him exposed to jabs. I don't know boxing at all, but you'd expect his coach to know more than us.
Same reason he's not wearing head gear but the pro is. He thinks he knows and is better than everyone. Who the he'll spars without head gear. Completely unnecessary, all it says is that his ego is huge.
Genuine question Viddal, how hard were the punches? I'm curious how well strongman strength transfers to punch power, compared to the speed and technique of punches.
If you don't have good technique, which Eddie didn't, our muscles are useless. They don't mean anything when you don't use them and anyway why would having so much muscle help with the power of a punch? The muscles required to punch are different to muscles required for Strongman, just like if it was armwrestling. Sure there is some carryover, but nowhere near as much as how some people seem to suggest, especially with poor technique. If anything, all that muscle would slow him down and make him more predictable.
@@MrTVx99 to a certain extent, remember if a wimpy skinny ass arm hits you it can be explosive but if it does not carry any weight behind it it wont have the knockdown power. a big ass heavy arm even if it does not come fast it will keep pushing after it has connected
@@Stale_Mahoney Some of the hardest hitters in the world have skinny arms. GGG has naturally thin arms and smaller fists even beneath his weight class and still generated almost as much lb force as Cain Velasquez. The “weight” behind a punch does not come from the fist or the arm, it comes from the ground up, carried by your weight transference. The shoulder point is the last pitstop of acquiring power; the arm and fist are only there for guidance and accuracy/shot placement. The efficiency of your weight transfer depends mostly on your technique. The size of your arm matters very little relatively speaking, and it causes much more harm than good the longer the fight progresses.
Yea. I guess this is one of the guys Eddie was referring to when he said he for the better of them in sparring. While Eddie held his own let's be honest it's good it wasn't judged let's put it that way

Watching this really makes you wonder why he didn't learn to bring his hands up more. If you were exposing how easy it was to hit his face in sparring why did he not expect the same to happen in the actual fight?
Because Eddie surrounds himself with yes men, the same thing he accuses thor of doing, I'm a fan of Eddie's, but it was so obvious from his videos leading up to the fight that he had Complete control over his training.
@@chrisfricker7025 yeah I really don't think he picked the right trainer for the fight. He was just relying on his power the entire time, almost no technique and the first thing they teach you in boxing is to have your hands up so why is the coach allowing him to have his hands that low. Especially with Vidal clearing damage that eyebrow in this video even!
It's multiple reasons he doesn't but it seems like the main one is energy, after a workout or during a fight your arms are gonna be heavy and them big ass arms are probably hard to hold up but they gotta be on him ab that shit
i love how people under estimate viddals technical ability and speed.. ive been a long time fan of his.. he realy is on another level and truly loves the sport.
eddie thought viddal was trying to hit him hard (he wasn't,hardly threw combos) so he tried to take his head off, some of eddie's punches was full power
Do you guys think there was an injury of some sort on Eddie's left arm? At 5:25 you can see him fully extend, miss, but shake his hand, imo he was scared to use it often during both the actual fight and this spar
I think Eddie being from stoke has made a massive effect on his technique, he’s always been a big guy so when he’s been in fights he’s probs been used to just firming the punches, hence why his hands are down and he doesn’t move around a lot. Just my take lmk ur thoughts?
you clearly know jack shit about boxing or fighting lmao, when sparring a light jab might seem alot to you rather then those watching, its different when you are in the ring. many times i thought i was actually rocking my opponent until i watch the footage and see they were light hooks in sparring
Great sparring session but confirmed what I said all along. Technique will overcome power all day. Eddie not learning to keep his hands up caused him to take too many unnecessary shots. Eddie lost his fight only because Thor was the better boxer.
I just dont understand why Eddie's trainer didnt make put his hands up. He just kept having his right hand down and even in this spar it punished him a few times.
Probably also the fact that the ring is much smaller than a legit boxing ring, so Eddie can stand center and not have to move much, so he can conserve his energy. It’s obvious his team cut corners, only training in his basement really held him back. Not sure who he was training with, but that low hand style was getting him caught over and over.
Well Eddie gained all that confidence from a false sense of security because as soon as Vidal cracked him at 2 minutes he tells him to keep the power down. On the other hand Thor was in real matches with opponents going hard and hard sparrings. Not saying you should spar hard all the time but sometimes it can help,
Sparring hard is necessary for people that will fight, especially beginners that will fight like them. Thor knew how it feels to get cracked, Eddie didn’t. I think as soon as Thor touched him, an adrenaline dump happened and Eddie gassed out. He doesn’t feel comfortable getting hit and doesn’t really know what to do.

I think your spot on with this.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice that, he will say otherwise because he doesn't want people to think he's making excuses.
hopefully he goes for the rematch, expected to see more from eddie
It could be because of the bicep, depending on the date of the video. I dont remember which bicep he tore tho so my theory could very well be wrong
Also noticed that
Notice how there's literally no input from eddies coach, genuinely think he was scared of eddie and telling him he was wrong
I was thinking the same thing. I was wtf why isn’t he telling him keep his hands up/ relax

Maybe a better coach would've changed EH's outcome.
completely agree with coach comment, an absolute disgrace. EH surrounded himself with yes men on the payroll. The emperors new clothes
Mustafa...???teacher. Or yes man...£££theres a big difference.... RESPECT
@@Tevatron044 Thor didnt need much adapting. He just took time to get used to Eddie s power, stuck to solid fundamentals and slowly outworked Eddie with his reach.

With a different coaching team I'm sure he would have challenged Thor a lot more. In any case, I have huge respect for his unrivalled guts and determination.
sadly agreed. thor's coach is a lot better. even after the fight, he doesnt big up thor. says all he is an amatuer. very grounded.
Sadly agreed as well, kudos for eddie for going into the ring with a torn muscle though
he tore his left bicep. if he would have had both arms to use I think he would have knocked out Thor.
He had 1 arm
The bicep had recovered totally. Come on bruh
viddal is a orthodox fighter and he switched to southpaw through out the hall spar, very impressive.

Absolutely
It's clear here that Eddie doesn't deal with combination attacks very well, gets caught off guard by them. He can get away with it here due to the size difference and won't feel it as much. Thor on the other hand rocked him bad with them
Mad that Vidal’s prominent stance is orthodox and he fought this whole entire spar in southpaw. Impressive stuff man
The fact that viddal went southpaw when hes normally orthodox shows how helpful he wanted to be for eddie since thors a southpaw
I come back every now and then to watch this sparring match, this is gonna get more viral as the years go by
First time viddal actually lands on Eddie, Eddie asks him to bring the power down
And then trys to take his head off. 🤣🤣
Viddal is such a scary fighter man... the slips and faints, are so on point, and this was just a spar, and he is probably trying to emulate Thor a little to give Eddie an opportunity to try his own combos against a faster opponent.
Viddal's agility and response time is crazy, I see potential for a champion
One was holding his hands in a high guard would sap his energy quicker and two he hoping that throwing his punches from outside Thors line of sight would mean he couldn't read the punches so well

i think everyones pointed out after watching the fight with Thor that Eddie didnt keep his hands up and was major in him losing, apart from his lack of technique...
It’s very simple Eddie has no fundamentals, you’d imagine the basics of holding your hands up would be the first technique drummed into him to the point that it’s automatic. A flaw due possibly to size and cockiness but against any opponent it’s crazy but against a man with such a reach and height advantage it’s madness. Knowing he was fighting Thor why did he not work the inside constantly and why change stances and whilst in the pockets each time! (Experience 10 years junior championships etc);

Simple, ignorance and narcissism. Thinking he knows better than anyone.
it might be due to the 6 inch height difference. a regular boxing stance would leave him exposed to jabs. I don't know boxing at all, but you'd expect his coach to know more than us.
Same reason he's not wearing head gear but the pro is. He thinks he knows and is better than everyone. Who the he'll spars without head gear. Completely unnecessary, all it says is that his ego is huge.

@@julianmuller766 no. Its still stuck up his ass. Not even Thor could get it out
Genuine question Viddal, how hard were the punches? I'm curious how well strongman strength transfers to punch power, compared to the speed and technique of punches.
It’s the mass sheer amount of mass 😂 fuck that
If you don't have good technique, which Eddie didn't, our muscles are useless.

Yeah because the ring was like half the size here.

Time stamp when he says it?
You can tell those punches hurt, that's why there's weight categories for a reason
I could feel the wind from the punches through the screen
Looked like Viddal hurt Eddie more, hence why he asked him to punch softer
@@DatDarkPeters when?
u can tell why there are professionals and dumb dumbs.... viddal threw one combo and left eddie clueless. real match eddie wouldn't even be seeing viddal walking around the ring. if this is what he meant by doing well with pros he's a good dreamer. u can't rly make anything out of weight from this spar. spar..... not real match lol
Viddal is actually insane, future champ
Won't be able to tell anything until he fights a ranked fighter
I love your fighting style. Very light very nice to watch
the differnce between tommy fury using protection to take a body shot and viddal actually sparring him! and this was 2021. crazy
Eddie has potential man i hope he doesn’t quite drop the gloves ! And I’d love to see Viddal fight tommy fury
Viddal would actually destroy fury lol
Idk what it is, but Vidal is fucking amazing. What a boss fighting this huge ass dude lol Vidal is like Izzy in that regard. Cardio body beats body builder everytime
that's really dumb to say don't embarrass yourself and fight someone just cause they look like a "bodybuider"
@@mihqclips waaah🤣
not really. without the headgear eddie only would need one 60% punch to the jaw to knock him out
@@grav8241 u do realise that this is sparing ,viddal never tried to go all out ,he was even tell him how to defend better while they were sparing ,just look at in round two when Eddie received one punch from viddal and stopped ,viddal was never there to fight him like a match but more like a little sparing and help him , if it was a match viddal would have easily won In first or second round for sure.
Regardless i think eddie did excellently tbh man the size of him aswell. He did struggle to get close though think the size of the ring he was used to played a factor aswell as the sheer size of thor like damn. Props to both however I thought id be a hugfest (talking about the fight btw )
I was entertained and impressed by both for different reason. Only thing I'd say is Eddie relied too much on his powerful right.
Eddie did terrible his technique was the worst out of any boxer I've ever seen in my life 💀
@@lukeadams1839 bro have u seen Deji
bro at least Eddie fucking threw punches
that was fucking awesome. passionate talent all around love it
The fact that he sparred him in south paw is crazyy bigs up viddal for takin the risks
