- Another of my discovery shorts which is a series on videos about places that are off the beaten path with few amenities. They're places people should see even if they never travel to them. Bisti is a BLM wilderness with no trails and lots of interesting scenery.
Shiprock has been a landmark and waypoint for travelers for 100s of years. It's sacred to the Navajo. It's a remnant of a volcano that was once buried. Time, wind and rain eroded 1000s of feet of soil away revealing the solid core and more amazing- several volcanic dikes that reach up to 200 feet in the air while being only a few feet thick. Drone footage shows shows how amazing this place is.
Beautiful, amazing, fantastic job once again.
Thanks again!
Very wonderful. I’m glad you include a little geology in your discussion
I try to do that without going over too many peoples head
Loving your channel!!!
Thanks 🙏
thank you
Great video as always Steve. Been following you since I made my first trip to Southern Utah in 2019. Your videos really came in handy when we were exploring the area. Keep up the great work. Cheers!
Thanks. I wasn’t sure how folks would respond to these short quickie vids
Thank you for the great video
Thanks for watching and subscribing.
Great video. I've been through New Mexico a few times on my way to Moab. Just haven't seemed to find the time to stop. Would love to someday.
you should
Really very cool! Great informations! Geology is a important subject to be knowing for all visitors and curious people like me! Thanks a lot for this nice video! Heloisa
History is very important to make a great and safe future! Have a great week! Heloisa
thanks Heloisa! I’ll be releasing more videos with native american history in a month or so.
@@TheWestisBig YOU'RE WELCOME! Heloisa
We visited both in April! Bisti was amazing, but we had to cut our aimless exploring short. Sun was coming down, and we actually got caught in a rough sand/wind storm on the way back. We didn’t see the hatchery, and we were walking for about 45 minutes out, and 45 minutes back. Nevertheless, it was one of the most surreal places I have been. It feels like you are literally walking on a different planet, and no video I have seen can truly capture its beauty. I recommend to get there early, and don’t go there on a windy day!
Did you have any trouble finding your way back in the dust storm?
@@TheWestisBig We did not have much trouble! We stayed along that straight path, where of course that fence is. It does end, but it's not hard to keep your bearings (even with your head down--trying to prevent sand/dust getting in your eyes). I could see how if you start weaving through narrows it could become disorienting.
Thanks for the info. I tend to weave while wondering.
I really like this format, i will watch one of these everyday more likely than a 2 hour one in a monty if that makes sense?
I’m glad to hear it! I hope more folks agree because Unless more do it’s not worth the effort. The first 3 have made a whopping total of about $20
How did you get a permit to get this close to Shiprock? Was it hard or did you go with a Navajo Guide?
Hi. Thanks for sharing. Question, can Fly a drone at Bisti? TIA!
I don't think so. It's BLM so I made sure I flew outside its boundaries.
Hello 👋
