- WINTER IN ALBUFEIRA WHY WE TRAVEL FROM CANADA - Hotel Room Tour Winter 2020 We travel to Albufeira in January to February 2020, escaping the cold weather of Canada. Prices to stay in Albufeira Portugal are now cheaper than Florida the traditional Canadian Snowbird Destination.
We rent a one bedroom apartment in a hotel in Albufeira, it comes with a kitchen, lounge, bathroom and bedroom, two balconies and all the amenities of staying in a hotel, like restaurant indoor outdoor swimming pool and bars.

I hear the flights to Portugal are the cheapest in Europe also. So it's a great travel destination. But me being a Canadian also I can understand wanting to escape it during the winter.
Yes the flights are very competitive, we got them for about $650 return tax in. Air Transat are flying earlier than ever before it used to be March, now they have flights in January and our plane Airbus twin isle was full. January / Feb is a great time to exit Canada, Thanks for watching have a great weekend. Oh and the wine, beer and restaurant food is cheap!

Hey Tina and Norm!! So awesome you made it safe back to Portugal this year and don't have to deal with the snow in Canada. So we are guessing you two are Snow Birds.. all the Snow Birds we know go down to Palm Springs for the winter and then go back to Canada!! So you guys are unique for sure! Way better than Palm Springs or Florida LOLOL!!! It was so great to see the beach.. looks like you're having some nice weather there. Your hotel looks really nice, and love the room tour! That is a must for us when traveling.. having a kitchen! Such a waste of money to go out every meal and the food is often not the same as your own home cooking! Except maybe that Fireplace restaurant you went to on the island! The view from your room is beautiful.. of the pool and ocean and love the balcony area! That's awesome you have a bidet as well. We know you two will be squeaky clean on this trip LOL!! That's such an amazing deal for $1200 euros for the month, AND you get maid service! What a deal!! This Is Our Retirement I am still waiting for my oldest to finish her college and then take my wife and 13 yo boy and probably move to either Costa Rica or to Portugal!
I am going to pay my house mortgage in Idaho in about five years from now but I will keep it.

Traditionally Florida has been the winter escape of choice for Canadian Snowbirds but Florida is getting expensive for rents etc, and now Portugal in particular The Algarve is starting to win Canadians over, cheap flights, cheap wine around €2 to €3 for a bottle, beer to take home under €2 a litre and restaurant meals around €10. Our plane was sold out from Toronto to Faro Portugal average age of passengers 70+ Hope things in Australia are not getting worse but better! We will wish for ☔️rain. Hi Dave, Hope you had a great donder! Yes we had to escape the winter, reports from home in Canada from friends and family said 15 cm of snow yesterday and it's started snowing again today and -11°C on the other hand sunny and +16°C in Albufeira 😎😎Lots of Northern Europe camper vans here too.

We have done som re-booking of our travelplans for the coming year. Thailand in March is still there but Crete in August has been re-booked to Teneriffe in February next year. we usually go in March May June and September june and Sept for a few weeks the rest 7 or 10 days flight time is only 2 1/2 hours from Ireland our apartment is close to the town on the marina bridge our apartment is behind the bus garage looking at the marina from a distance, i would not blame you going there in your winter keep up the great videos and stay safe

I always wonder with those large hotels, do people take advantage of the commons areas to chat and get to know one another. We've been mostly campers and the resorts tend to be a lot like little communities. Great to hear that you have that. 😁👋💕

Hi Norm and Tina, we’re enjoying your videos tremendously. We’ve been to Portugal a few years ago before Covid and would love to go back for winter. We’re from Nova Scotia ( near Peggy’s Cove ) but now in Mexico until April…lovely here but would like to head to Portugal next year 2024 if we can find affordable accommodations. We try to budget everything when travelling ( seniors )but noticed accommodations have skyrocketed. Airbnbs have hit the roof and the hotel you guys stayed at in Albufeira have also increased. Any suggestions. Thanks again for making these helpful videos sharing your travel journey.

Hi Norm and Tina, great video! Since this is a 1-month stay, is there a washing machine in the apartment? I saw a clothes drying rack in the balcony, but no washer :)
In this apartment there was a washer, but usually there is not. There are laundromat’s readily available that we have used.

I would be interested in knowing if there are kitchen items that you bring with you from Canada that you have found helpful.
Not really because we were worried about having “herbs” that could be taken as drugs lol Every is cheap we just buy stuff from there.
Thank you for your informative videos! We are going to Albufeira in March for five weeks. We are both very fit so thought we would do a lot of walking from our hotel to old town and new town Albufeira and either bus or Uber back after dinners.
But for visiting the surrounding area, we thought we would do trains and buses. Thoughts….
We have stayed at Albufeira for 3 times and really enjoyed it , yes you can travel by bus and train 🚂 although the station is a 15 min taxi ride from Albufeira we hope you have a great time Cheers 🇵🇹 🍷🇨🇦🍺🙂

2400 per month is ok but expensive for the whole winter thanks for giving the prices
TFW actually we paid 1212 Euros which was about $1750 Canadian at the time but included heat, Air, swimming pool , Internet which we thought was very reasonable, have a great weekend Cheers 🍺🌺🍷

Thank you for watching our videos we really appreciate the support. The hotel in this video is The Luna Sol Aqua and have studio and one bedroom apartment style rooms. The car rental agency is one of many at Faro airport, we are reluctant to give the name out as your experience might not as good as ours and we would not want to have our name taken in vein if you had a bad experience. The hotel is different as it's OK, do shop around for hotels you might get a cheaper deal. We would not go back to this hotel (it didn't have an oven), although it's position is great in Albufeira. Maybe take a look at a town that is a 15 minute drive away from Albufeira called Armacao de Pera, we have 2 video's about that. Have a great trip.

Good ! We had a great week skiing in Whistler ⛷🏔 we had almost 100 cm . We landed in Montreal in a storm last night waking up this morning whit 15 cm . Will have to go and blow this snow later this morning ! 🤪

We had a great time indeed but I was whit my son Frédérick ( 40 year old next month) his wife Judith and a friend Réjean ...my wife stopped skiing in 1987 when she broke a leg at Mont-St-Sauveur 😢 she never got back on ski ...
It’s our second ski trip all together we were in Revelstoke 2 years ago .

@@SergeCousineau Sounds like a great trip, it is tough having an injury while skiing, so no wonder Helene hung up her ski's. Our son is a very keen skier and is teaching his young children to ski. Take it easy snowblowing it's hard work, luckily that is something I no longer have to do! Maybe we will see some new videos from you soon? ⛷🚠🎥📽😎😎🇵🇹

Looks great, you guys! Great looking apartment. Are there laundry facilities? We're headed down to Palm Springs in 13 days to get away from the cold and snow too. I don't think that I'll ever convince Jo to go to Portugal. Maybe someday. Hope springs eternal as they say.
Hi Arnie, No laundry at this apartment, but there are grocery stores here with coin op washers dryers outside their stores for very little expense. I'm sure you and Jo would love the architecture of Portugal, out of season means no crowds or party people. We hope you have a wonderful time in Palm Springs we have friends with a time share there. @@ArnieandJo They love it, it's a large group that has time shares in Canada and around the world, so they can "trade" their time share credits for other locations like skiing in Canada at Mont Tremblant.
The snow is dumping here now, so it looks as if I'll have to go out and do some shoveling as the crew that's supposed to do it hasn't showed up yet. It's such a drag. Have a good one, it must be getting on to happy hour for you.

Thanks for watching, with the Covid situation cancellation polices are a mind field 😱 our insurance won’t even cover us at the moment while our government has a no nonessential travel advisory on .That’s why we aren’t travelling, make sure whoever you book with flights and accommodation will give a refund if you can’t go due to Covid . In Portugal 🇵🇹 a lot of places have you pay in full well in advance of going, one hotel did let us pay a deposit and the rest when we got there .Some hotels give no refunds at all, we have heard that people booking with Air BandB aren’t getting their money back . Good luck have a great trip Portugal 🇵🇹 is a lovely place . 🍷🌺🍺
