Great Property to grow into. A couple of thoughts from a 82 year old. Develop a loose plan for the whole property. Temporary access roads, possible building sites, kitchen, garden, and a small orchard ( semi dwarf stock for easy maintenance) and trellises or arbors for vine fruit. If possible tree lined entrance drive 40' wide. Allow 20' for drive and 10' on each side for landscaping and set back to the tree trunks. With perimeter planting of trees and bushes to screen from future neighbors development and the public road. Set tree planting 20' back from property line to allow for bush hog mowing the perimeter. The best time to plant trees was 20 years ago; the second best time is now. Think of a food forest of nut, fruit and nitrogen producing trees. With an under-story of berry producing bushes and flower beds to line the final drive way and fence line. I know all this future planing is difficult; but necessary for the look you want 20 years from now. So the grand kids can say look what grandma and grandpa created for us and you can have a low maintenance; park to live retirement in at my age. A great property to work, play, relax and grow food on; for three generations or more.

I love seeing such a nice young family with hopes and dreams. I bet you’ll make loads of precious memories on your new property. From an old lady, please remember, while you both take care of the kiddos, the animals and the land, you MUST remember to take care of each other. The strength of your marriage is the backbone of all the rest! Lovies.

You young kids! Always doing something behind the grownups backs!!Lol! Congratulations to you both! Anything by water is great and with history, too! It could not have been bought by a more worthwhile couple! You both deserve all that you receive because of the way you conduct your lives and raise your family! The Lord is pleased and He answered you prayers! Hope you don't have those "squatters" enjoying your property before you do! If anyone will do right by that property, it's you two! It is beautiful from the air, but lots of work on the ground. May God Bless this land and may it become all that you want it to be! I can see Kayla looking for frogs and Caleb climbing trees or building a tree house for his "man cave"! Lots of fun for all! God Bless!

You will love it. My parents bought lake property, a regular lot, when I was your kids age. We camped on it at first. Build a dock and got a boat. Then we built a 25 or 30’ square building with stone fireplace. One corner of the building was walled off or the bathroom, built on bunk beds, and closet. It had an L shaped kitchen with open cabinets w curtains. Eventually Daddy built a house on the front of the building. So many memories made there. You will love it. Many of those memories were the process of developing it.

"Hidden Heights Lakefront" sounds like a good name for the property AND perhaps a second YT channel for you guys?! Totally appreciate and enjoy all the activity (and narratives!) that goes on with your farm family and also enjoy the 'play time' at the creek (which is totally gorgeous!). Can't wait to watch the planning and developing at your new 'diamond in the rough' property! Not sure which is your acreage on the beautiful drone footage or how much lakefront you actually have but I'm sure you'll be getting us all better acquainted with the lay of the land as you and Rachel 'dig in'. I'm so happy you were able to get extra land. I'm glad Kevin's dream came true. It may be good plan to let the neighbor continue cutting hay on the land until you decide what you want to do with it. It will at least keep it from becoming overgrown. At least you know you can use the land for gathering hay for the winter. I want to see a mix on the videos.

The black walnut tree has parasitic vines/trees that were most likely planted by passing birds. This happens a lot here in Australia.
Black walnut timber in Australia is considered a pretty furniture timber.

The rock cabin is wonderful. Definitely keep and redo it. That will be beautiful overlooking the river. The huge rocks at the river's edge are also awesome. Will there be any way to save them when you put your dock in? Maybe you can build different levels of a walkway down to the water over them. There are so many things to do. My imagination is running wild. Can't wait to see the new property in addition to all of the animals at home.

As for my 2 cents I would have the formal driveway come in right between the two oaks, What an entrance that would be . Then I would have a large equipment gate in the corner where you opened the fence after installing a culvert pipe in the ditch, I'm sure the low spot is there for a reason.
The Stone house looks cool and if the rock is to weak to allow fixing it up, I might check about putting stucco on the outside and have it in the German Sear where some of the stone shows thru but not all of it, just a thought.
Around 9:38 mark someone has been using it as a freeway. I could see a fire pit just above the fishing spot next to the little cabin if it's aloud.

Not to mention a very nice water front spot to go fishing, relaxing, thinking, praying and coffee drinking! Yep. for 2 1/2 acres its a "goldmine"! Congrats again! That is a gem!

    @juliebaker6969 2 года назад +18

I love everything you do on your channel. But I would be PARTICULARLY interested in what you do with the old stone cabin. I LOVE watching videos about renovation, and making old structures viable again.
I think it would make a cool cabin for overnight or weekend fishing trips. The structure looks sound enough, though it DOES look like it needs a new roof. Maybe you could even use all of the wood you're cutting down to make your own homemade shakes for the roofing material. That would save you the money for the materials, and wood shakes can EASILY last 30 years before needing to be replaced.

I am very excited for you all. I completely understand where you are coming from. I had to give up my half of our family cabin and it just about killed me. Still sad about it, but I'm at the stage in life and with my disabilities that I couldn't go back to the river cabin. There's been so much development that it's no longer the natural and beautiful little place anymore. Mankind ruined all my old home areas...don't want to even go see them again because it hurts my heart to see the destructive changes. I live off of my memories and look forward to my real home in Heaven.

@ Loren Robertson: I totally understand what you say about your home areas. Same happened with the farm where I grew up. When my b and sis-in-law removed the house, I was never ever informed or had any chance of reclaiming things from the house. Sad we had such bitterness between us, and only came together again right before my husband died, and then 7 years later when their first son was killed. When it all comes down to the deep tear filled eyes and heart aches, it is a regret I have had to live with. PS---My parents would be so ashamed at the bitterness that happened, but if they had been alive, IT NEVER WOULD HAVE HAPPENED.

I love that Kevin is so hard working. He’s one of the few UTubers that keeps his full-time job and isn’t reliant on members. Memberships are ok but during these times, a risk. You guys are awesome👍🇺🇸🥰

I am so very very happy for you both to finally fulfill your dreams of the lake front property!! There is so many words in my heart that I want to say but mostly I know that you will have years of happiness with your family, children and grandchildren as well as just the two of you😊❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️I am personally terrified of snakes so I know you guys will figure out how to get them to MoveOn so they know this is not their home anymore but I am so SO excited about The small sandstone structure because that is a piece of history to begin with but also it’s native to your land. I lived in Kansas/Oklahoma for 25 years and it’s such beautiful stone and it looks to be in excellent condition on the outside and I know it’s just little bit of work you can repair the roof and the interior but you can never replace that sandstone structure should it crumble but I didn’t see ANY, if any at all Mortar that was missing in the part of the video you shot. But even that can be quickly repaired and yes it’s too small for you guys to have as a cabin but it’s perfect for say another couple to stay in or a child and your girlfriend or boyfriend for the evening separate from your cabin when you get it done or just have it close by so that you can keep supplies that you needed when you’re fishing as well as a cooler that you can put drinks in because they’re always cool inside those buildings. It like you said, the possibilities are amazing but please don’t tear down that little structure I think it’s the most reliable saying you have. I’m sure you don’t mention too. Can’t imagine what the other building looks like if this one looks that great.
You did an awesome job trimming out the trees and getting things cleared away just in one day!!You should be proud of yourself and you guys have been working so hard for so long and just trying to make everything work for your family and home and I am so excited for you to have this break.
For me, don’t worry about what your video because I think you’re going to have your time very busy between the two places and you should shoot what you want us to see and we’re all gonna be happy for it and happy for you. I’m not going to ask for specific things because I love your channel as it is and watching you work makes me happy as you’re clearing your land in those trees or whether you’re building a dog or cleaning out the old house or putting in a fence it’s accomplishment in progress and a new journey. Or if you want to just stick in an OK pool and sit down for a while with your wife & Make plans for the future you can videotape that too. My heart is beaming with joy for you guys as you have certainly earned this and it’s just perfect. I toast you with my empty glass LOL and prayers to the future new home. I know you’ll come up with a pretty name for the property. Love you guys♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️❣️

I’m a first time commenter on your channel. I just have to say that I am sooo excited for y’all! Kevin, you should keep some of the wood from the trees you are trimming and use the wood to make some items for your future cabin on the property. Such as your charcuterie boards, bowls, kitchen utensils, clocks, etc. Things like that would be so neat to have in the future. Just something for you to think about. Anyway, Congratulations to y’all. Don’t worry about trying to separate your videos between the properties. Just show it as your journey through life happens. I love watching your videos.

I think a good name for the lakefront property is Camp Pritchett 😊

Looking forward to updates on this property. You folks are oh so lucky being able to grab that up.
Would love to see you build up a new stone structure down there as living quarters. It will be more naturally cool during summer months for staying in. Give it some thought folks. I know it will be harder to get it started but the insides could be whatever you wanted them to be while giving you some natural cooling properties you do not have to use energy to get. Congratulations on this great addition.

Daniel and Rachel, think this is absolutely fantastic! A lot of work but so worth it. You have a generational property. Loads of memories in the future. Especially fishing, boating spot for sure.
    ***
I thought this due to Dad and us kids would trapse through the woods a lot and old road beds. Please be careful around the foundations for a well that maybe hidden. We found a few and it could become an issue of safety. Not trying to be a damper but concern for safety. I don't want anything to happen to either of you. You are precious people whom I've become fond of.

This property looks so cool and adventurous for you and your family. The stone wall reminds me of the artifacts at the Grand Canyon. It would be cool to renovate the stone building…and rectify it to original surroundings. This will make memories for your kids as they grow up in their teenage years. Fix it up for retirement and do it now while you are able to do it on your own. Take your time, but draw out plans…then document and journal all your discoveries.💕🙏🏻🙋🏼‍♀️
