I absolutely adore your style of composition! It’s so emotive and rich even with just a few individual parts to push through harmonic tonality. Every movement of this piece, as well with all your other compositions, just speaks so truthfully of emotion and depicts a perfect little picture of your inspirations. Your ornamentation for flute is amazing! I am giving my senior recital in the spring, and these pieces have inspired me greatly I just wish there was a version for just solo flute and piano. Thank you for composing such amazing works!

I play tin whistle and this would be awesome, in college our flute choir had a semester of Celtic pieces this would have fit so well
I think the piccolo solo could work well on a sopranino recorder, if not on a garklein!
Mesmerizing from the first note to the last. Each piece is exquisite in its own right, but combined they weave such a beautiful story. I can’t wait to try out the piccolo solo.

Alto flute has such a gentle sound in it's low range! I'm a trumpet player who's considering learning how to play Alto flute, and to play a part that's something like this makes me want to learn more!

I love all of your compositions, but your flute trios are absolutely amazing! I really really want to learn alto flute because of your music and I’d love to hear more flute trios and compositions!
I’ve wanted to learn the alto flute for a long time now, and now so many arrangements are coming up on my RUclips that it’s only heightening that desire. I really like this piece, and maybe if I ever get to learn the alto flute one day I’ll have this on my list to learn.

i switched from flute to tuba in high school but this makes me want to get my flute back out
Why’d you switch??
Venice Taylor flute came really naturally to me and had i been at a school with more students maybe i would’ve had competition but i was first chair high school band in middle school so i decided to switch to tuba. i’d always liked the lower lines and my arthritis prefers the four valves over x amount of buttons. it was sooo fun to march.
Venice Taylor part of me wishes id pushed myself on flute, i could’ve done some good shit there. but i enjoy my time in low brass.

Hurrah! What a wonderful performance! Dear couple! I congratulate and wish you all the best to perform well in more and more pieces like this. Even if electronic keyboard imitates the effect of the duos, trios, quartets and quintets of flutes or any other musical instruments when played as melody with harmony it can't beat the effects of real musical instruments.

With the help of your books I have been teaching several students the beginnings of Blues playing. They like it! So do I, especially from the point on where the right hand melody is not repeated throughout the whole piece but gets transposed according to the chords in the left hand. Also the improvisations (solos) I found very helpful.
When I searched for your contact info I saw there were pieces from your hand performed on RUclips. This Celtic music, and for example Autumn, Spring and Winter for flute and piano. Completely different from the Blues pieces I'm used to, and very beautiful! Wonderful music. Also quite playable for the average pianist, and for an advanced flute player as well. (Summer is a lot more difficult for both.) I knew you only from your piano methods on Jazz, Blues and Pop; it was a revelation for me that you are so versatile.
I have a few questions about All about Blues part 2 which I hope you don't mind asking you:
- On page 9 in bar 8, 10 and 12 one would expect the right hand to play a minor broken chord, after similar chords in previous bars, but there isn't the expected flat sign. Is this a printing error or on purpose?
- In your books and in Blues in general, is swing rhythm only allowed where indicated, or is that left to the interpreter?
- Why is the minor scale never transposed in Blues when the left hand chords change?

I somewhat want to try transposing this to clarinet to see what it sounds like, but I think it may ruin the feeling of the piece. The instrumentation for this is excellent and I’m not sure it would work with any other instruments. Well done indeed! A fantastic piece!

This is lovely stuff. Puts me in mind of some of the World War I generation of British composers, Holst, Warlock, VAughan Williams. But all its own. So playable, but so satisfying musically, and accessible for younger people who want today in duets or trios.

Hello. I was wondering if I would be able to use this if I gave you credit. I would like to make the first part so it was a flute and alto sax duet and I just wanted to get your permission before I did so.
It may take a bit away from the airy woodland type sound, but would it sound any good to transcribe the alto part to a saxophone? I really want to play this at the next renaissance festival with my group of friends, but we only have 2 flutists (one is me) and a saxophone/trumpet player
It definitely could work, but the Alto Sax player would have to focus a lot on blending (volume difference and all). They’d also have to be a little cautious when in their high register, as the “jazzy” sound can definitely slip out
If you’re at a Renaissance Fair though, maybe see if there’s anyone with a Bass Recorder? Plays in nearly the same range as the Alto Flute, and would probably be quite close in timbre as well
I am a violinist, and I now want to play a woodwind of some kind.
Could I transpose this for trumpet so that me and a friend of mine can give it a go? Absolutely love this

This might just be my ears, but at 3:02, at the end of bar 22, the sheet music has the flute descend from Bb to F, with G in the middle, but the flute's recording is a descending scale from Bb to G. I don't know if that was a small blunder that was let slide, or if I'm just hearing things, regardless, the suite is amazing and the musicians did an beautiful job at performing it, so it doesn't really matter if I'm going to be honest.
