So sick of this same excuse, other countries have millions of people with mental issues and these events aren't taking place there every other day. Also not everyone is going through some crazed mental health issue when doing things like this, there's women out here dealing with the same issues with NO resources for help and they aren't doing this every other day either. The shooter had a gun charge in 2019. I believe a great way to improve the situation is have a zero tolerance policy for illegal firearm possession at the DOJ level. He should have been locked up, instead on parole able to cause more havoc.

I agree 100%. It's one thing when someone gets caught with some pot. So long as they aren't selling it, nbd they shouldn't get jail time or probation. But if a person has felony gun charges, threats of murder, history of other crimes, etc. then they should not leave prison.

As I awake today, I sit and gaze wondering how many names, how many graves, with no action I see, and parents left in misery.
With only paper and memories, textbooks and roses to lay, on their sweet babies grave.

Remember that SouthPark episode where there was a school shooting, and only one parent of the child was freaking out because of how acclimated everyone else was to this scenario. Like it became somewhat of a regular occurrence so it wasn’t that big of a deal. I thought it would never become like that in reality. Heartbreaking 💔
Season 22 episode, Dead Kids. Sad, but this has been an issue for decades, and people just feel helpless to do anything about it. Too many people can't put their pride aside and allow the government to do anything to combat gun violence. First of all, did anyone else's jaw drop when they heard that this is the 67th mass shooting this year? We're only like 45 days into the year!! Wtf?! Secondly, when are schools and universities going to start taking their campus security seriously. Why the hell could a 42 year old man who didn't attend the school just enter so casually. It's sad that we live in a world where public schools need 24/7 security, but it's the reality that we're facing. Campuses nationwide need to realize that and start putting better safety measures in place immediately. Biden wanting to ban assault rifles will not fix the problem.

It's amazing how quickly they released all of the deceased victims names, their stories, and where they were killed as well as an interview with one/three of one of the victims family members along with the shooter's identity, his mental health history, and where he lived along with the weapons he used, all based on a pair of shoes he was wearing in less than 24 hrs... It normally doesn't happen that quickly... condolences

Usually, they are the source we get the FACTS from, and at this stage of the incident, they are pretty tight lipped about the details, such as victims names and histories. At least until the victims families have been notified. Guess they work pretty swiftly in Michigan since it has one of the highest crime records in the country.

This college Carrie’s a special place in the hearts of Michiganders. Students who go to landing are predominately Michigan kids and once they have their degree in hand they stay in Michigan and work. We are grateful to those students.

I wonder if all colleges can keep all building doors locked and have all students and staff use their ID cards where they swipe their IDS to unlock the doors of every building. That may prevent people that don’t go to school or work there from entering the building.
However, even with this scenario, someone could still start shooting if it was another student or staff with a gun. (Because those people will have access to the building with their IDs and being a student or staff).
But I remember with Uvalde and now this shooting, the doors were not locked, making it easier to enter. If the doors were locked, some of the shootings may have been prevented.
Maybe more security with the handheld metal detectors (where people move a small hand held detector up and down, like at a courthouse). Or regular walk through metal detectors. And do bag checks. Although, that will be expensive. But it would save lives.
More mental health help is also needed. Lot of counseling places are full, leaving some without access to treatment.

You'll then just have some crazies with knives, sharp objects, and maybe homemade explosives, which would be very low compared to all the gun violence
