Tech was always a few steps ahead of everyone else in the Bad Batch... its even possible that he gave plan 99 its name. Tech understood the dangers of leaving the empire and adopting Omega. For him all the risks were worth it... to the very end.

I don't think tec is dead due to him being a crucial character and the key to finding where crosshair is.we also don't know what's at the bottom of the void and he could've fallen into water.i hope they dint just outright kill tec😢.
Somehow Tech survived.

Just one thing you forgot about: Omega. She becomes his student, so it's for her that he started to talk about technical things.
That's why he stopped talking those things to his brothers... He had someone to listen to him.

THAT’S SO SAD
@@Superkid33 Well... At least he had someone he could talk to... 😔
Oh my god he was the one teaching Omega HOW TO FLY AAAAAAAA MY HEART
@@winnerloser Do you remember the first episode of season 2? He was teaching her about ships as well...
I'm autistic myself, and i recognise a lot of Tech. He shows his love not in clumy words or crazy gifts. He shows his love by always being there to offer whatever support the team needs.
Same!!! This season really showed Tech has a lot of autistic attributes and social issues I face on a daily basis. I love they were able to showcase that so well without
I was going to say that, he's definitely autistic. Socially awkward, not liking change in habit, special interests, and everything else
What does clumy mean? Lol
@@RadarHawk I am not correcting that, that typo is glorious right there. like my dyslexia was trying to prove the point.
I've got a few friends on the spectrum, and some had picked up almost immediately on him giving some markers they identify with. They really liked how he was portrayed, as if his lines and mannerisms were very clearly and specifically done. Took me until like halfway through the season to pick up on it myself lol! We all unanimously agree that him and crosshair seem to be the most fleshed-out and complex of the batch. Dude will probably be my favorite of them as well.
Falling from great heights is totally survivable in star wars

I never realized Tech doesn't do trivia in Bad Batch, but yeah, Tech seems to have realized what happened and what everything means
He did sometimes, like in season 1 with the tactical droid, but it’s definitely less often. This could be seen as a change in character, or the writers making the batch less one-note like they were in their clone wars arc
R.I.P. Tech 99. That episode really hit me in the feels
He's not dead!
@@LordEmperorHyperion There's a good chance he isn't but honestly I really hope he is. With every time they bring someone back from the dead or fake out on a death, especially when they take time to mourn them, the impact is reduced the next time. Some of them like maul lead to pretty cool stories, sure, but overall maul should be an exception, not what we expect
@@noogidoo2217i agree
I screamed no when he fell my girlfriend was in shock, I got her into Star Wars and I love tech I see a lot of myself in him
He's not dead he's just M.I.A.
Tech was truly unique. There really isnt much representation of neurodivergence in media, especially representation where they are seen as equals to the people around them. As a neurodivergent person myself, and having a partner with autism, it was incredibly validating to see such a cool character in my favorite franchise. Star wars hasnt hurt like this since Kanan's death, but it was well handled and a super powerful moment.
I am grateful to this video and commenters like you shedding light to this fact -- it has helped me realize my own bias and how I missed so much dimension to Tech because of it. I'm also grateful to The Bad Batch writers for making a character like him, and thus for helping you feel more seen and understood.
It's a super common trope to make the smart character like this. The fact you claim to be "neurodivergent" when that label is so broad as to be meaningless and talk of "validation" (which is an offensive concept as it reduces, misrepresents, and generalizes people), makes your claim sound false or, being generous, highly misleading.
@@josecarlosmoreno9731 Tech is literally autism coded. While there's no confirmation anywhere that he himself is actually autistic, at least that I could find, his character is modeled around the "autistic savant". All of his typical "smart guy" tropes are used as what's called bridge traits, the idea being that they're aspects of a character that aren't necessarily linked to their identity but still help to reinforce it and make it feel more plausible. If you watched or played The Last Of Us, Bill is a fantastic example of writers using bridge traits, moreso in the show than in the game but only slightly.
That being said, there are other forms of neurodivergence than just autism and it's kinda shitty to tell someone they "claim to be" something just because you don't fully understand it.
@@mortalitydoesstuff8965 It's not shitty because it's a serious and widespread problem that hurts the people they claim to help the most. "Neurodivergence" is a buzz word used by narcissists who want to feel special when the reality of people suffering various mental conditions is that they need help overcoming their condition in the best case or otherwise mitigating or working around it in the worst case. Especially with both the increase in self diagnosis, the trend of "not questioning" which allows liars and manipulators free reign, and the over-medicalization of human suffering caused by external factors like poverty, isolation, sedentism, and social conflict and a world built on lies, where those who loudly scream "empathy" are the least empathetic.
The conflation of autism with intelligence is a well worn trope, not some "representation". Also, being relatively more cold, rational and introverted are not automatically autistic traits, countless people are like that and aren't autistic. One problem is that the "neurodivergence" crowd wants to deny that mental illness is a thing and so reframe it as just "different" by focusing on highly functional examples of people who barely qualify as mentally ill while shunning anyone who is actually seriously facing a mental condition. "Validation" does not help, it hurts by downplaying their suffering. That's the problem with modern liberals, they pretend problems don't exist by reframing them as good, and invent new problems that don't exist to distract from those that do. All the while the people they claim to "represent" and "care" about are the ones who most suffer.
@@josecarlosmoreno9731 I'm not saying the conflation of autism and intelligence is a new stereotype, and that's exactly the point. It has been around for a long time. Bridge traits take advantage of existing thought patterns and biases to pitch a character to people that seems like it fits into the real world. That's not to say that stereotypes aren't harmful, but they needed to make a smart character for the team and had the opportunity to make a very well rounded character where his only real bridge trait IS his intelligence.
Also, "neurodivergent" isn't a buzz word. In case you don't know how to do critical thinking for yourself (which your last comment kinda proves), "Neuro" means stuff dealing with the brain and 'divergent" means different from the standard. The term covers a large umbrella of stuff, from ADHD to autism. It literally just means your brain doesn't work the way most people's brains do. Something's just wired a little differently in there, and it has some effect on the way that you live. Those people are not narcissists, and it's genuinely rude to classify them all as such. It seems like your comment is about representation but you clearly don't give a shit about representation if you think that an entire group of people are narcissists for picking a word to describe themselves
Plan 99 is probably a sacrificial or "rear guard" action. Used to either sacrifice ones self by staying behind such as Tech did; and/or perhaps a trooper holding off the enemy as long as they can for the sake of the mission or to buy time for the rest of the unit to break contact and evacuate the area of operation. Another example of something similar to "plan 99" was Jedi General Ima -Gun Di and Clone Captain Keeli of the Outer Rim Garrison and their squad delaying a large droid attack force long enough for local allied resistance fighters and civilians to escape to fight another day during the battle of Ryloth.
Yeah it kind of hits different if the only reason the Kaminoins approved of Clone Force 99 was as a way to use of them (that they often see differences as defective) as sacrifices for other clone force’s missions. A convenient way to get rid of the “bad batches”. But the Kaminoins probably didn’t expect 99 to survive this long; That what made each of the members different in these cases made them more adaptable and specialized in skill. There usefulness and Tenacity probably made the army realize they they are more then just suited for suicide missions but instead are highly capable special ops that it would be a waste to throw them into the meat grinder (they go toe to toe with even clone commandos) so they phased their deployments accordingly. But still a lifetime dedicated to combat will catch up with you no matter how skilled. Plan 99. RIP tech. You will be missed.

I blame Saw Gerrera for Tech’s death. His plan to use a large amount of explosives to hopefully kill the higher ups of the empire while they are in a meeting together, shows us what we already know about his character. If he and his team didn’t do plant those explosives or used them till after the bad batch successfully escaped the area Tech wouldn’t have to sacrifice himself to save the rest of his team.

As someone who has autism, I found Tech to be very relatable. While I’m a bit more emotionally driven than most autistic people I’ve met, I still think very technically.
Same here, bro. I’ve got the same situation. I was sad but also kinda proud when he sacrificed himself.
The state of his recovered goggles suggests the descent was, at least in part, not uneventful, but if anybody can devise a way to save his own life from a fall while he is falling, it's Tech.
"the decent was not uneventful" - That phrasing caught me totally off guard!
that is an incredibly tech phrase!

if anyone could find a solution, its tech. maybe he had a single use repulor chute or something
I also thought of that. Maybe he managed to climb in the wagon and somehow secure himself from fall damage. After all, I doubt his goggles could survive while other equipment not. @@dustronyt4565 When someone in a piece of fiction goes: "We only found this" actually means: "There's no body", which means: "the character is not dead".
Tech is alive and he will come back in some Deus Ex Machina scene in the third season.
When a charcter actually dies in a piece, they make sure the audience knows he's dead and there waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more drama. One entire episode worth of people being mad and sad about the death. There was pretty much zero drama after Tech's death.
So he's not dead.

As a neurodivergent man, I immediately picked up on Tech as one of my people
Tech was out there living by the Jedi code better than like 90% of the Jedi order 😅😢
All of what you said here is exactly WHY Tech needs to stay dead. It forces the others to grow and adapt in both good and bad ways. This is a ballsy, powerful writing decision and no amount of denial and copium should change that. Great video.
It's becoming something of a sadly common trope for important characters in Star Wars to cheat death. Sometimes it can be a good thing for a character to survive something improbable, but if it happens too much, it cheapens death. It's something we all have to face in reality, and it's a big theme in this franchise. Anakin Skywalker's character arc can be boiled down to a conflict with his inability to accept the inevitability of death.
@@dianabarnett6886 yep. His inability to cope with and accept the finality of death is the reason the galaxy's in a permanently destabilized, chaotic state.
I had a bad feeling something was going to happen to tech since the beginning of this season based off him getting alot more character development with Omega, though I do feel like he’s still alive and will probably be back next season

This show has raised a whole new breed of young fans. Generation R.I.P Tech
Nah for real these shows for kids have been watered down so much nowadays. I like this a lot RIP Tech but atleast the show has some integrity and realism now.
Out of all of The BB, Tech was my favorite and to see how he sacrificed himself so his Brothers and Sister can escape hit hard. Omega's horrified realization of what happened broke my heart. Though it may be a Fool's Hope, I do hope Tech did survive that fall.
Thanks for the vid. As an ND person, I recognized Tech as ND-coded and I loved the representation.
That conversation between Tech and Omega is a breakthrough in mainstream media. To me, Tech has high emotional intelligence (he has high maturity, that’s what emotional intelligence means to me) and his social ineptness is hallmark for being Autistic-coded. He cares deeply. He just processes and expresses things in different ways.
Dank Ferrik Alan, you brought this Star Warrior to tears.
Tech would be considered "On the Spectrum" with Idect Memory, or in the Star Wars Universe "Holographic Memory".
I just hope that Dave and Jon didn't "End" him, but if they did, it was done with Tech going out on his own term... Protecting and Defending his Family that he truly loved.
Do you realize? you just gave the eulogy, for a cartoon character. And a beautiful one at that.

Putting the "Tech" in Generation Tech - great video as always!
Let's not forget Tech is only circa thirteen years old and out in the galaxy for the time in his life.
To be completely honest, I never understood why Tech was so popular. I really wanted to like him, but I could really seem to latch on. This video helped me understand him in a totally different light, and now he might be my favorite.
@@WyldStallion-bs9oo that's awesome. I love understanding people, so getting to know well-written characters who reflect real humans makes me so happy. It makes it so much easier for me to interact with people I may have misunderstood otherwise. I'm not sure how I may have reacted to someone who thinks like Tech in real life. I probably would have been uncomfortable and maybe even annoyed like Omega. But now I think I would really appreciate them and their beautiful mind, and even make a meaningful connection.
This is an amazing video man. You really put a lot of thought into really looking at and understanding who Tech was.

If there is no body, Tech is still alive.
Tech was my favorite character. Bad batch won't be the same without him.
Tech was my favorite. I hope they don't cheapen his sacrifice by bringing him back "somehow". We have too much of that in Star Wars already.
I recognize a lot of myself in Tech. A capable person, acquiring mental tools and brushes to admire both the vibrant colors of life and to navigate the art of war. I am not a war veteran, but when you look at the finer details in life, you truly appreciate and value the weight of even the smallest grain of sand. You see the culmination of so many awe inspiring motions and mystery, but also see how things are going. This leads to silence, and being careful or rigid with words, saying nothing unless it is proven true, even when you need a simple white lie to get by.
Tech shows his love through action. You can say "I love you" all you want, but it would have an air of hollowness without proof of such a thing. Good intelligent people show this with patience, mercy, kindness, and understanding to make their love and actions carry weight and validity. Essentially, to make love real and further a fact instead of a lie, a hollow mask for desire.
True as gold! I can saay "I love you" a hundred times and it won´t be as powerful as being the one standing in your corner, when the proverbial hits the literal.
It's tech, he figured something out. Probably managed to call a flying creature and ride on its back, but lost his goggles in the crash landing, made it to safety and will come in the end when the bad batch needs him the most and save the day
Nah that's plot
as much as i want that to be true its not
Tech needs to stay dead.
Anyone else worried this will become a trend with this show. The Bad Batch gradually getting widdled down until it's just Hunter and Omega. I mean we never see the Bad Batch in Rebels despite seeing other former Clones and I doubt Rex would leave them out.
Meaning it's very likely all of them are dead by that point.
I wouldn't be surprised if they all die except for Omega.

Interestingly enough, I think Tech's helmet is closer to the world than his other brothers. You can see his eyes most of the time, actually, instead of the darkened visors on the rest of their helmets. And you can see his expressions through his eyes. Almost as if you're seeing the world through his eyes. It's always made me watch him closer, to see how his eyes react when he sees things, and makes him seem more open to the world, and more importantly, change than the others. In the words of the man himself: "I am not sure how I should care about change. It is a fundamental part of life." He understands and respects his squad, and loves them unconditionally, even if they don't understand him back. Which is why I think he was the only one to make that decision. But then again, that's just my opinion. Long live Tech.
I really liked all of their squad, but tech was my boy. RIP You beautiful soul!
Tech was the most relatable of the batch to me. If I were try to think like he'd be thinking I imagine there was a large amount of problem solving going on as he fell. After all the goggles were the only part found, and ze goggles do indeed do nothing.
you can tell they were all prepared for plan 99 hunter n echo kept fighting wrecker never stopped trying to help tech and even after they derailed they were able to get there stuff together and fight out. true soldiers
I heard someone theories that maybe the reason why they delayed TBB season 2 is so that we’d have less of a wait between the season 2 finale and season 3 trailer/announcement. I hope that is the case.
Tech is the support player in your squad. And dammit he is a great example of why the support is so vital
8:31 Tech has scanners and sensors and microphones on his armor and helmet. It is possible (if not probable) that Tech knew that there was a river down there and knew that the peril was of Omega couldn’t swim.
Legit your best video, ever. The way it made me feel their pain, but also more understanding of Tech. Good job and keep up the good work.
I have a high IQ (155) and am very detail-oriented too. I chose to be alone as a child, because the other children my own age were often too immature for me to be around. But, I don't have low emotional intelligence. Quite the opposite, actually. I am an empath, so I pick up on the emotions of others immediately. I can feel what they're feeling, and I know how it feels to experience something even before I experience it myself. I'm extremely sensitive in every way, to the point where a slight change in someone's behaviour towards me, will make me depressed, because I know what it means, even if others wouldn't notice it. I am afraid to go outside, but that's mostly because I'm afraid of judgement, and confrontation of any kind. I'll get hurt too easily. With my intelligence, of course I'm a very logical person, but I actually use my emotions to make decisions instead, even ones that I know don't make sense from a logical perspective. I'll always put my heart first, and my choices will always be based on love and understanding, even when I know it'll hurt. Of course I'm very misunderstood, that's one of the reasons it's so hard for me to interact with people. I definitely struggle to express my emotions in person, but I have my own reasons for that. To people who don't know the real me, I would look like someone like Tech. People have accused me of taking things too literally, not understanding that I was well aware of what they actually meant, and only mentioned the literal interpretation as a joke. I even got misdiagnosed with Aspergers, despite being basically the opposite of that. Who I appear to be is not who I am. I cry more than anybody I've ever met. I'm the most intelligent person I know, but also the most emotionally sensitive person I know.
I rarely reply but I feel you. Its one of the reasons I decided to just write in a journal more often, since there I can explain myself much more. Im thought of as insensitive, when the opposite is true, like Tech, trying to control your emotions to be able to make decisions. I would say try to open up more to someone, be it your friends or whoever. Ive been trying to talk to people much more these last 2 years, and I think i've grown in that area much more. Its helped my confidence in being more open about myself to others.
What you describe ist pretty much my modus operandi. People think they understand what they see, but they can´t wrap their heads around my decisions. The tragically funny part about that is, that they will see my sacrifices and reprimand me for them, even when they are all that stands between them and certain loss of who and whatever. Bearing the scars to prove it, I use my intelligence to keep those safe who need it.
But @JohnGDDR5 is right. It´s only possible because I have a few very trusted and long lasting friendships that balance me out. It´s needed, and scary, and even more important than your intellect can probably fathom. Your emotions will tell you to keep your distance, also for safety reasons, but this is the one time your intellect should overrule.
12:17 after so many years and still... this scene hit me right in the feels 😢

God, the way you talk about Tech will make me wish he comes back.
If he did somehow survive, I hope its after a good while we find out which is bitter sweat and eventually becomes one with the team again.
Tech is to Star Wars as Donatello is to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Really been loving your in depth analysis of Star Wars themes lately. And yeah, Tech probably saw the writing on the walls. They’re chances, luck, whatever…was running out. Didn’t make it hurt any less to see him shoot that cable, but he knew what was coming…
You really should do a video about hunter. It’s really tough being a military leader though in war time, hunter may not always come up with the best plans, but he meets all situations with poise as a leader should. He listens to his subordinates although he makes a final decision on his own, his subordinates may always have an alternative plan but catching yourself between 2 plans is fatal requiring that the leader have the last word. Another thing constantly on his mind is that any plan acted upon is only as viable as its contingencies because no plan survives first contact with the enemy. Hunter is one of the best at improvising after first contact which is why I think he is actually a good leader.
Mark my words: Tech will soon turn out to be alive and held in captivity by Dr. Hemlock who had his broken goggles and lied to Bad Batch.
Probably the same as tech surviving however I kinda like the show having the balls to have his character actually die.
Has hemlock lied about anything so far? Seems like people just assume he's lying and don't take his deals.

I just saw your video about Tech being a better leader, and I definitely agree that Hunter needs work. You mention it again here, citing how erratic a leader Hunter can be. Between his decision making and the questionable necessity of his special skills, it may be terrible of me, but I kind of wish Hunter had been the one who sacrificed himself in the season cliffhanger. I don't want to rain on your parade dude, but they don't know where the facility Crosshair and now Omega are being held is. The mission was a complete failure thanks to Saw blowing up the shuttle with the tracking device during his escape.
@@captainseb8652 no plan survives first contact with the enemy.
Disney has no balls to kill off a main character.
i mean gravity just doesn't hit the same way in star wars
I’ll see your bet And raise you one “Rogue One.”
@@GenerationTech OOF!
Well, what about Saw? Or Luke? Or Han? Or Leia? Or the entire Rogue One team?
@@darkstar0554 well played… although… Rogue 1 naturally needed its characters to die because it would’ve been hard to explain where these aces went after stealing the plans.
The Bad Batch, on the other hand, are not quite as actively involved in the fate of the Galaxy. In fact, they spend a lot of the series trying to get out of the picture.
This singular motive to just live a civilian life would easily explain why they wouldn’t have been present in the OT: they were enjoying life without violence or fear.
So as far as continuity is concerned, none of the Bad Batch really need to die. Except maybe Echo if he stays involved with Rex.
This is a personal theory of mine that revolves around Wrecker in the first season and why Order 66 didn't initially register with him despite his mutations not really having an impact on the inhibitor chip. You know how Wrecker's left eye appears to be blind and the left side of his head has damage to it? Well, I believe that the battle that likely caused that damage also caused his inhibitor chip to malfunction and become disabled, and when he ended up hitting his head, it rebooted the chip, causing him to have headaches and succumb to Order 66.
Tech knows everything
Tech isn't dead. No body, MIA. Echo was thought dead, he's back and kicking ass. One guy in the Star Wars universe I expect to think he way out of a shitshow is Tech.
dood. this video makes the ending all the more sad and really emphasizes the sacrifice that Tech makes. you're storytelling or ability to explicate these kind of topics is sooo good and gotten so much better over the years. Great video. Bad Batch has grown on me - I will miss Tech.
Tech's "death" hit me so hard. I've never had such a reaction of pure grief to a fictional character's loss. It really does feel like I lost a loved one.
FYI: the "ch" in chasm is a hard "k" sound. 😉
Brought to you by the Hooked On Phonics Repair Squad. "Sounding words out is only half the battle!" 😎🤘☮️
In my opinion, Tech was the embodiment of actions speak louder than words. Tech often couldn’t find the right words to explain what he’s really feeling, but when he had to, he never hesitated to take the actions necessary to be there for his squad, taking that selflessness to the very end.
He's a true bro and I refuse to believe he's dead.
Dang why’d you have to make this such a tear jerker 😭
One of the best-written characters in the whole Star Wars verse.
I completely forget about his tendency to record sounds. I don’t think they used it once in season 2 of bad batch or even one maybe as well
This was a beautiful eulogy of Tech that made the loss hurt anew, while also making me very grateful for what we did get to see of him (and for the writers who developed him so much). Thank you for it.
No body, no death. I'm still holding hope that some plot armour saved him.
Great vid GenTech, well presented.
Can we take a minute to applaud the shot he took I’d say man is second best sharp shooter in the squad behind cross hair
Yeah there’s a reason why he’s the pilot ad well
When tech fell that pulled on the heart strings
Tech’s death was all Saw’s fault ..
Probably not the best video to watch in public if you don't like crying ugly tears in front of people.
So I guess we will see Tech in season 3
I called Tech dying in a comment on the why Echo is so important video on a comment talking about them killing off Echo if anyone wants to confirm it
If they would write the rest of the Star Wars shows like The Bad Batch, they would have more goodwill with fans and doing better financially. Rewatched season 2 and it hurts so good.
Great video sir.
