What beautiful yarns those will make! I love this way of blending, and the doorstop is such a good way to keep the drum from moving. Thanks for showing us these techniques!
I love that you kept it on high speed while you were talking. I dont know if it was on purpose, but it made my day. Thank you for making me smile. And great video all over - as usual.
1. I love the skill of blending this. 2. There is a song playing ~ minute 11 that kind of sounds like a folk version of Quiet Riot's "Come on Feel the Noise." I'm here for it.
I love this video so much! All of this info is amazing and the resulting fiber is fantastically beautiful!!! Hurry and spin them all so we can see the finished product.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This makes it so easy to understand how to divide everything up in the beginning for blending, and then also laying out the spirals at the end to either be dramatic colour shifts or a gradient back and forth. Great tutorial, thank you :)
33:58 So glad you're feeling better. Thank you for taking the time to create this video. I always learn so much from you and gain inspiration! Now if I only had an additional few more hours in the day to play with all of my fiber toys😂
I love these videos. I taught myself to spin long before the internet (or personal computers!), but then didn’t spin for many years. My interest in spinning resurfaced a couple of years ago. I only have hand carders and really don’t think I’ll go for a blending board or drum carder, but your videos are inspiring me to use my carders as a blending board. When I first started spinning I bought raw fleece and did natural dying, but now am happy to just spin from combed top or roving. However, I love all I am learning from the internet!
These videos honestly help me for when my drum carder gets here, I'm prepared to use these lessons. Even though it's a motorized one, I can go around some issues by taking my time & have the setting on low. Thank you 😊
Gorgeous!! So glad to see the doorstop!!! I struggle holding the handle and drafting 😂-. Now all I need is a doorstop! And I agree No Fun spinning from a tight “rolog”. - so much easier and and smoother for me with a nice soft loose “rolog”!!! Have a great day!!
They turned out beautiful. I enjoyed watching this video. I also enjoy watching you and your husband do the dyeing of the fleeces too. Have a good day 🙂
I'm so glad you're feeling better! I love watching your videos. You're so happy/good/ positive attitude. Your so knowledgeable also. The only thing I do with any type of wool is I crochet. I love you and watching your videos I do not knit I do not spend but I would love to I'm just too afraid to start I don't even know where to start. Thank you for doing what you do Trish! 💜💜💜
Oh my gooness! I am going through my backlog of paradise fibers subscription and blending some gradients!!!! Thank you for the inspiration and information❤
Thank you so much, Trish, for another excellent video. It pu are amazing and inspiring! I appreciate your sheer generosity too. Those gradients are beautiful and you’ve inspired me to give it a go on the drumcarder… Love how your nails match the blending board blue!! 😊
This was a great tutorial! I learned so much as always. You have a way of explaining things that make sense. I also like the way you show things visually so we don't have to guess what you are doing, if that made sense. I don't have a drum carder but I have had a blending board for over a year. I can't wait to try this. You made it look so easy. Love all your videos! Thank you.
The last set of rolags (blue/black/rust) is gorgeous! It makes me want to pull out my blending board and stash dive. But I just got some pretty fiber in the mail that my fingers are itching to spin! 😉
Wow, they're all so beautiful! Thanks for the tutorial, you make it so easy to understand and I always want to run off and try out the techniques you show as soon as I watch your videos!
Whooooo it's so creative 😊 love the colour you choose. You make it seem so easy. Wish I had more free time to try it out. ❤ Thank you for taking the time to show us.
Great video!! As I was watching, I couldn’t figure out how you were going to do that gradient on a drum carder!! So fun to watch how you did that. Can’t wait to try it! Thanks for bringing us along on your fiber journey!
@@FiberLoveDiary i really did. I'm going to watch it again and then try my hand at it on my blending board. I need to re-watch the video you did with re-arranging a braid as well.
Great tutorial! They are all so beautiful. I love how many different suggestions you have for how to mix up your spinning to keep it exciting. Your videos are very inspiring. (And they are just the perfect length)
The cultural hive mind is at work! Katherine at Craft Me Happy (she's based in the UK) just did a video doing something similar with optical blending. I think hers posted after yours. Very cool! I just happened to watch hers right before this one.
I've read all of the Elizabeth George Inspector Lynley books. Waiting for the next one, please. I think my guild is going to do some fiber blending this year. I'll have to point them to your channel.
Oh my goodness they turned out so beautifully. Definitely going to try this! We got about 6 inches of snow today. Snowed from 7 last night to about 6pm, but it could still be off and on until about 9. Christmas snow was behind a bit ;p.
I want to do this!❤ I just received my 1st order from Paradise Fibers. I’m still on my 1st practice fiber. I made the mistake of buying different fiber thinking it was all the same. Thanks for all your help. I’ve learned so much from all your videos.
Perfect timing. I now have to take this apart to work with the limitations of my tools., but now I know the lay of the land! Thank you for helping me with gradients and self striping. I have been picking this apart in my head for awhile.
If you have hand cards, I think you could break it down a little like I did the gradient braid breakdown 🤔. I've been thinking about how to do it with hand cards since I started editing
@@FiberLoveDiary I have dog brushes that are so tiny it makes me want to rip out my hair. I was thinking more combs. Im still thinking about how to do it with combs.
I used to think it was weird to divide out a batt that way you do with that n or z method until I tried it. Now I like it better than strips because it almost like continuous roving. It’s a great tip! I saw it first on one of your videos years ago.
Whaaaat! A Michigan fan making a straight up UK batt😆. Go big blue!🤣. We love you in ky trish. I always wanted to try to make a gradient, but was too afraid to mess up what fiber I have. Thanks for the video as always🥰
I love all the colors today! Specially the second one, I did a blend similar to this with a gold and turquoise. I’ve always wanted to own a drum carder but they are so expensive. Love the work!
Thank you for sharing this technique! Yes, I was intimidated by color management but you make it effortless! Love your color choice. Time to experiment!
You are so welcome! I think a lot of us are because we know there's stuff that doesn't work, but we may not know why/ what don't work. I hope you try this out!
Thanks for this information Trish! I have the same drum carder. Still in the box because I’m scared to use it. This may have encouraged me to brave it out! 🎉❤
@@FiberLoveDiary I’m going to have to!! Before, it was what colors. What fiber what what what??I did that when I bought my wheel now I have 2 wheels and an espinner. Can’t stay away for long 💕
Another amazing how to video! This is so timely for me. I just made blending board and have tried it out a couple of times but now I'm ready to buy some solid colors and start blending. As always, you've provided valuable information and encouragement. Thank you so very much. Oh and I'm wondering where you buy your solid color fiber.
That third blend....omg it makes my heart so happy!

Thank you for laying in out before hand… makes so much sense!
Off to pull out my blending board and bag of mill ends!

I better check which song that is 🤣
You are sooo inspirational....love how you simplify the gradient which would normally perplex my old brain.❤
So demystifying! I love making batts and color mixes more than the spinning! 😂😂😂
