Dad graduated high school in 43 and was in the Italian campaign a few months later. Never talked about it. That generation didn't. My cousin was going through his mom's jewelry box in the 60s as a kid "helping" her pick something for a night out and found a medal at the bottom. "Oh. That's your father's." She said casually. It was a Silver Star!

I don't understand, your grandfather won in what? Why do you think your grandfather fought a war that was not his specialty? Don't you know that India before and after World War II was under British colonialism? Your grandfather had to fight those who colonized and plundered your land. It seems to me that when a person gets used to slavery, he will defend it whenever he has the opportunity to be free. I think this saying sums up why the Indians and your grandfather fought with the British Army. Also, had it not been for the two world wars, India would have been a British colony until now. This is also the case for African countries that gained independence from Britain and France after the two world wars. I also advise you to watch the movie Gandhi. This movie makes you see the crimes of the British soldiers against your people, and how they killed the Indians and treated them like slaves.
To see that dead guy. He was someone, had a family, a wife, maybe children. We should always remember, and have a big respect. This war took youth and lifes.

Goosebumps! We need to remember those hero's
Looking at these videos humbles me deeply, also it feels kinda sad at the same time.
These heroes also committed war crimes
@@EBCgangLeader all sides do commit them bruh, soviets, Americans, Japanese, Italian, Brits, not just Germans, since it's called war, the victor gets to say what's what whilst their side of crime still hidden from the world's eye.
@EBCgangLeader All nations committed war crimes, so what's your damn point?
@@nocturnalrecluse1216 that we shouldn’t praise those who died and they died for our sins not die for our country

These pictures are amazing.
Aren’t they great
So sad, my uncle never wanted to talk about his experience, I can see why. These images make feel his pain, God rest is soul uncle Dave was a great an❤❤❤❤
@almabustamante..Bless his Heart, & Bless Your Heart for caring, and NOT "forgetting"..!!💐
Will always remember and respect those that came before us ❤❤😢
Damn it’s been really more than 70 years when World War 2 started and ended. May those who fought for the Allies and Other Sides Rest In Peace.
❤My grandfather Luigi , too , is a victim of Ww2. He was an Italian Officer , and he didn't want to collaborate with the Nazi. He was tortured and killed, his corpse never found again . He's an hero for me , like all these soldiers who lost their lives. God bless them 🙏
They sacrifice for us. Their souls are pure and clean. Yesterday's sacrifices draw today's smile😊🌸

I am sorry for the loss of your Grandfather. May he rest in peace.❤

The photo of the trio on the bike is just gorgeous. Long gone, but what a memory.
Is just poetic that the actual photo has bikes shadow in the floor
Wow. These are amazing. You start feeling as if you were there, and to think that every single person in those precious photos are gone. ❤
I could watch these videos all day
Fun fact everywhere you go a battle has occurred you just need to remember the souls that are trapped in time
Souls that are trapped in time?
Huh?
More of a sombre fact.
@akteach9391 what makes no sense, is that you think you know more than the person with the original comment about after death.
He could be just as right as you are.
Can't get over the image of the dead American soldier in the first clip, brings a tear to my eye - gone but not forgotten!
RIP
Rip to all Ww2 soldiers who died during service
Sad loss but perhaps in vain
same
@deanwatkins3513 They fighting our European brothers on behalf of the pesky you know who's. Same as today.
That soldier on the motorcycle with those two women, that was classic!!!!!
I wonder what lives they have led after that photo was taken? What adventures they had, if any?
Touching and moving,. Brings one to tears at those we lost and what we've now become.
May those who gave their lives so that we could be free rest in peace.

Why the heck did I tear up❤❤❤❤ this is pure respect and heart, Thank you for your service
Tears of gratitude my friend
What a stupidity your comment is, instead of saying thanks to God the war ended. Aren't people from u.s. consider themselves Christians? Haven't you read the bible? You shall not kill? What good is it to have the logo God bless america God won't bless any nation that likes to star wars all over the world, the only god the can bless america is Satan the devil since he is also a god but an evil one the rules the world through these evil governments.
Merecem todo o respeito esses heróis.... Seram sempre lembrados por nos proporcionar uma vida com liberdade...

Luar biasa arsitektur belanda... benar² kokoh dan cukup mampu bertahan dari laju zaman ktimbang lainnya. Buktinya, di indonesia masih banyak bangunan² peninggalan belanda masih kokoh.. bahkan lbih kokoh dari bangunan² yg lahir jauh sesudahnya.
OMG..Those Are Such Great Photos..They Bring Out Tearful Emotions.
My father was 82nd airborne whose service took him from North Africa, to Sicily, Italy and into Germany. He struggled with PTSD and alcoholism the remainder of his life. I learned so much from him and in spite of those memories and hauntings that he had the remainder of his life, he was a man I appreciated and learned much from. War is hell on earth. May we find better ways.
The things he saw to haunt him that much. He was a hero no matter what he thought of himself. I hope he found peace in the end.
@Denozo88 thankyou, he did.
@@Denozo88 He has found eternal peace years ago. Thank you.
@@Denozo88 Thank you. Unfortunately no. He passed alone in a hotel room somewhere, and had donated his remains to science.
What a wonderful thought, thanks. I have no doubt that he did after his last breath. He was an organ donor. Peace. I was a young child and witness alcholic induced PSTD anger and remorse at an earlier age.@@Denozo88
I will never forget this. All these soldiers fought for their motherland. How beautiful it was how they care.
This pictures 📸 are amazing ❤ to see history
Dad graduated high school in 43 and was in the Italian campaign a few months later. Never talked about it. That generation didn't. My cousin was going through his mom's jewelry box in the 60s as a kid "helping" her pick something for a night out and found a medal at the bottom. "Oh. That's your father's." She said casually. It was a Silver Star!
@mikegalvin..OhhmyGosh..!!!
Wow ! Thank you for your story. My Dad was on a PT Boat and never talked about it either, but had plenty of panic attacks and rage. He passed in 2016 at the age of 95. Miss his presence.
I have a strange feeling when everytime I'm watching ur these videos...idk what feeling it is.kind of sad mix with lonely feelings about those soldiers.I imagine how many ppl had lived in those places with tears and fear, how many soldiers had suffered in those places we are watching in present world. That really breaks my heart. respect to all the soldiers.RIP.This is not my country but I feel a strange feeling and the sorrow.
I was fortunate to attend the 75th anniversary of D-Day in Normandy. It was a bittersweet experience. Got to meet a few WW2 vets that jumped that day. Saw the blood on the pews of one of the churches where the wounded were taken. I’ve always respected veterans but this gave me an even bigger appreciation and respect for them.
Thank you for sharing history through lens.❣️
My pleasure
I also agree that these pictures touch my soul somehow. I can’t explain it, but us history buffs can relate.

Your grandpa is a loser
On the right side of history your and mine grandfathers stood. God bless oue brothers from all nations

The first pic is of an element of the 6th Armored Division’s where my father (who passed away in 2009) served in the 25th Combat Engineering Battalion. Aka, the “Super 6th”, they fought in 6 campaigns across Europe including in the Ardennes. The photo mentioned appears in at military historical book about the 6th Armored.
