Another great restoration video. I would have been fired if I worked in your garage, because first, I would be trying to pull the dent out of the passenger front fender!🤣
I would have never thought about the wheels that you put on. Now that I have seen them on the car. They look fantastic and i don't believe you could have found anything that looks better. Wow i think that is the best wheel you could have found for that style of car, they look extremely good.
Two minutes in and you've already fixed the spring-deely-bop-hood. So great that Christina witnesses your progress so we can also. ❤makes the Torino go round.
great choice on wheels and tires my grandpa bought the same car new back in the day same color i have always loved that body style can wait to see it completed.
Coming right along 🎉 I'd pull that engine and tranny. With some mild aftermarket upgrades to the engine and tranny that thing will run sweet and have some real pep to last 👍 Spice up the looks of that engine bay too. Old style Cragers always look nice. I would have went with "deep dish rims" on the rear though. My old buddy in highschool had a 73 Torino with a 351 Cleveland that he rebuilt and for a full sized car it really ran good. For body styles , I tend to like the earlier late 60's, as my favz.
Hello Richard & Cristina. Seeing that carburetor reminds me of a situation that I had several years ago with my Ford F-350 1 ton truck in that I experienced a situation with the engine not wanting to run when you were trying to accelerate. Interestingly Enough, The engine would run perfectly at an idle and just as soon as the accelerator was touched, The engine would quit. My 2bbl carburetor had the same exact metallic fuel filter as your carburetor has and so I removed the filter and tried to blow through it and it was really plugged up. After getting a new fuel filter, The problem was solved. Those metallic fuel filters on the Ford carburetors are also very easily stripped out in which I had other Fords that I had to be rather creative to install the filter without it leaking gas everywhere. Back then, We didn’t have the “Chineseum Fall Back” carburetors from eBay or Amazon to save the day.
For some reason I don't want you two giving up on this car and I'm not even a huge Ford fan. There is something cool about this car. Thanks for sharing. During these trying uncertain times your content is refreshing. 🇨🇦
My first car was a 70 Torino GT . 351 Cleveland 4 bbl hurst top loader 4 speed with hide a way headlights . It had crager GT rims and looked and ran great . I got back in 78 when I was 16 . Very lucky to have that car . Over the years I have had many different cars but definitely miss that one the most . Great channel and thank you for saving that one
Looks great with the Cragars on it. Yes those hinges are a weak point, but most people will not take the time you did to free up the hinges. Then they end up bending the hood at the front of the mounting point of the hinges. I was taught to oil the hinge and the hood latch every time I change the engine oil. I still do this on all my cars. Thanks for a great video. I can’t wait for the next one on this car.👍🏻✌🏻
I used that nickel/copper to redo my Wrangler and it's great to work with. But not only is it important to make sure you put your fitting on the line before you flare it, make sure it's facing the right way! Don't ask me how I know.
Given our Political Sink Hole we are going down, this is the ONLY Auto channel I allow myself to spend time on. You two warm my heart and i truly enjoy and feel better after every episode. Need you to keep an eye out for 50s Chevy Pickup. Take care and Thank You both, Dennis in Virginia
This is one awesome channel, Richard and Christina are salt of the earth people. Glad to hear you support America, Dennis...GREAT things are happening! 🇺🇲
It really doesn't make a difference I don't guess about how a bearing is packed, as long as the job is done correctly. However, I like to put the grease in one hand, and the bearing in the other, and press the bearing in the grease, you can see the grease go through and know it's packed inside the roll the rest around the inside and outside. Maybe a shade less of a mess. If that's possible. I have never owned or used one of those bearing packing gizmos either.
If you watch Simon Fordman has his own channel, has a 1972 ford Torino close to yours. Anyway the point I’m making is he replace the floor pans using OEM ford mustang for the same years. He had to modify or make them work he did a great job making it work. You can watch see what I am trying to explain.😊
Ya'll are doing a great job. Informative and entertaining. I hope you have good luck especially on this Torino. I believe I like this one as well if not better than the Striped Tomato.
Richard, hope you will get to the bottom of oil pressure problem. While started cold it is more or less but when hot is low to my POW. Wheels are awesome. Waiting to see next improvements. Re dash as low hanging apple you can buy dash mat.
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍 : Richard & Christina love the channel you guys are tops , as a retired senior may have to cut cost across many platforms if things going south with economy . I have put many projects on hold . Due to the garage that is going on. Family comes first hobby’s and projects take a back seat . You guys keep up the good work !🍩☕️👀😎👍🇺🇸
I love this car. With all its flaws awesome car. You should contact Auto Crafters about this build they may be able to give you a sponsorship or give darn good discounts.
Something I thought I would point out and I'm sure that Richard would agree on that era of Cor if you guys are going to redo the exhaust and to do exhaust on those days the best sound was a glass pack to me. It still is the best sound over the modern mufflers. Ben's on what you want.I just thought I would point that out there and get richard's opinion
Try putting your bonnet hinges in a citric acid bath. Citric acid is a very cheap cooking ingredient and add it to normal tap water. Sit for day or 2. Wash off and will be like new. Hope it helps
How are you doing today My Friend. If I remember correctly those oil pans are hard to pull off on a 71 Torino. I think you are going to have to do it to fix the oil pressure problem. But that is only my opinion I think it would be the best way for you to fix the oil pressure problem. You can fix the problem easily. clean out everything from the bottom of the pan. It would be worth the time and effort to do so. Then change the oil pump, I think you will have the oil pressure problems fixed. Also check your push rods. Make sure they are clean and pumping oil. Fords are bad to Mushroom the push rods. That's just my opinion. on what needs to be done. I'll talk to you later. Have a great day.
Thanks David. I agree the oil pump needs to be changed. I am hoping to do it in-car, but that might be a fantasy! The push rods are clean and look OK. Keep your advice coming!
Richard, how about those sad looking ball joints and the control arm bushings? Try using single grade 30 weight oil...these older designed engines don't develop a great deal of psi.
My usual test to see if its worn bearings causing low oil pressure is to try running straight 40 or 50 weight oil. I remember a friend that had a F150 with a 351M with low oil pressure problems, turned out to be bad / worn camshaft bearings.
they make dash overlay that you can die to match the car interior, there several sites were you can get replacement parts for torino's then there troy leming how has many of these cars,he travels the county and picks them up and he has tons nof parts
Does the engine have a oil pressure relief valve Richard? Probably just a ball bearing and spring. Other than that just drop the sump and change the pump.
The dash is just like body work, fill and sand then wrap. "Weird beard* has a pretty good 101 video he even messes it up the first time so you know what not to do.
Exhibiting some impressive skills in this “episode” (nothing wrong with that word, dammit)! Especially liked the tutorial of the 2-bbl Ford carb. Being a Chevy guy, it had a couple pieces never seen before. Easy-to-understand explanations…with the patience of a saint! Thanks for taking the time to explain the wheel choice. While I was an advocate for the deeper stock steelies, I get the appeal of those Cragar SS (As a young buck, I too had Rockets on my ‘75 Camaro). Quality video!! Looking forward to the next episode. Btw, did you two decide if “Ginger” was to be her name??
You guys should contact Benpac for a lift they come to you and put it together for you,❤LoveJim J&R mobile service and God Bless Y'all and your critters
@whattherust ok I'm sorry but I think that was my car. My wife just had a new baby we had to move to south Carolina I had to trade it for something cheaper on gas I loved that car I hope you guys are able to enjoy it
Drop that oil PAN and pull out that oil pick up and make sure that it's cleaned out it could be stuffed up underneath the screen And that front Fender please fix it
I hate the wheel and white letter tires; they spoil an otherwise great restoration. It's like replacing marble columns on a classic building with chintzy, aluminum posts.
Richard, if you don't mind I have to figure out how to contact you by email.I don't have tried. You don't need Facebook page but it tells me something about becoming a member.I'm not good at all this technical jar.If you don't mind let me know how I could reach you
Thank you for having clean content that I can watch with my 10yo son. Thank you from Kentucky!
You're welcome Frank.
Car looks great with the crager's on!
Another great restoration video. I would have been fired if I worked in your garage, because first, I would be trying to pull the dent out of the passenger front fender!🤣
Excellent video especially explaining the working of a carburetor
I agree
Glad you liked that.
I have to admire and appreciate the two of you because you do such an amazing job whether together or on your own. Yay!
Love the wheel and white letter tire choice!
Nobody and nothing argues with Miss Christina!
Very good will selection period correct next to steely
Thank you for the education along with the entertainment. 👍
It seems whenever I start a project like this everything takes way longer than I expect! Thanks for the video!
So true. The hours both of us have into this already are crazy.
Looks great those are my favorite wheels
I would have never thought about the wheels that you put on. Now that I have seen them on the car. They look fantastic and i don't believe you could have found anything that looks better. Wow i think that is the best wheel you could have found for that style of car, they look extremely good.
Love the wheel choice!!🇺🇸💪🇺🇸🏁
Love what you are doing with the Torino. Also the Boopers are great😊😅🎉
Two minutes in and you've already fixed the spring-deely-bop-hood. So great that Christina witnesses your progress so we can also. ❤makes the Torino go round.
There's never a Wrong time for a compliment.❤
great choice on wheels and tires my grandpa bought the same car new back in the day same color i have always loved that body style can wait to see it completed.
Can't wait to see the finished product, on the Torino,I know Christina will be happy,❤LOVEJIM J&R mobile service and God Bless Y'all and your critters
The car is getting closer and closer to being back on the road it is enjoyable to watch the journey thanks Richard and Christina great video
Thanks very much Dale.
I thank y’all picked the right tires and rims they look very good on that car back in the days you either had them or wanted them
Right on.
I enjoyed your bloopers Richard, it made me laugh LOL thank you😊
We will start to incorporate more of those. Thanks for the feedback Dan.
Can't go wrong with SS Cragars ! Looks Awesome 👌
Coming right along 🎉
I'd pull that engine and tranny.

Oiling the hinges at each change is a great idea Floyd. Thanks for the tip!
@@whattherust you’re very welcome. I’m glad to help.
As far as the bearing packer goes, I bought one and love it. Packs them perfectly in seconds and a lot less messy.
I have a 4v 4 bolt 1971 police interceptor 351 that only has 40 thou on it and this really inspires me to rebuild it and stuff it in something!
thanks richard and christina great video and great car ,, looking forward to the next one,,thanks.from toronto,
Glad you liked it Fraser.
Pop's here. I love the two door hard top Chevy in the background to the right side of your vice.
Thanks, it is a cool car. We have a few videos of it.
Great progress well done. Really enjoy the channel thanks.
Keep up the great work that you do. I learn a lot from you 2. I am not a mechanic, I know enough to get me in trouble , but I try
I used that nickel/copper to redo my Wrangler and it's great to work with. But not only is it important to make sure you put your fitting on the line before you flare it, make sure it's facing the right way! Don't ask me how I know.
I hear that.
Watching from Charleston SC area.
Looking great, enjoy watching your progress on the Tarino .😊
The Merry Seat Prankster haha too funny. I'm sure a kid tried that once or twice.
Lol love the bloopers
Mr. Mick from the Back Shed channel includes bloopers at the end of his episodes, as well.
We will be doing more of those at the end of videos. Glad you like it.
Good job
Hi ya from west Alabama love yA

The last few I have had that did that it was the main bearings.

hi from the uk
Richard, hope you will get to the bottom of oil pressure problem. While started cold it is more or less but when hot is low to my POW.

The wheels and tires look great.
Cool car, great channel, watching from Virginia.
Thank you for the support Norman.
Hey Richard and Christina great video and great progress on the Torino can't wait for more cheers 🍻 🍺
May find a chinesium carb online cheap richard that brake line is awesome works great I use it all the time it's coming along nice richard
After the rebuild the carb is working great!
I love this car. With all its flaws awesome car. You should contact Auto Crafters about this build they may be able to give you a sponsorship or give darn good discounts.
Thanks for the tip. I will look into it!
I had a 67 Malibu cragar's were my choice for rims black wall tires though.
Time for cam and crank bearings, that's typical Ford oil pressure on old wire out bearings
Great work on those brakes. Where can I get one of those flaring rigs?
I got mine at Eastwood.com many years ago. They have a similar one still available. It is pricey though.
You are really starting at the bottom with that car.
Something I thought I would point out and I'm sure that Richard would agree on that era of Cor if you guys are going to redo the exhaust and to do exhaust on those days the best sound was a glass pack to me. Glass packs are cool, but super loud on a V8. In the old days my favorite was the Hush Thrush. It had a great sound.
Just in time, I had to take a paid week off from work. Use it or lose it. (It's a tough life). I'm 'super happy.' 😄😉
I was wondering if you might find Robin under the seat, but poor Batman just has to be on his own
That exact car and color combo was my first car in 1983. Had it for a couple of years till the tranny went. it was a nice car.
Try putting your bonnet hinges in a citric acid bath. Citric acid is a very cheap cooking ingredient and add it to normal tap water. Sit for day or 2. Wash off and will be like new. Hope it helps

There's a mouse mansion under the seat! Lol
My usual test to see if its worn bearings causing low oil pressure is to try running straight 40 or 50 weight oil. I remember a friend that had a F150 with a 351M with low oil pressure problems, turned out to be bad / worn camshaft bearings.
Right on. A thicker oil didn't help, so I am thinking the pump is bad. That junk in the pickup screen has likely scored the gears.
Hope I'm wrong, but that low oil pressure is usually a sign of worn mains
they make dash overlay that you can die to match the car interior, there several sites were you can get replacement parts for torino's then there troy leming how has many of these cars,he travels the county and picks them up and he has tons nof parts
Wheels look great I hope you don’t have to pull the engine
Does the engine have a oil pressure relief valve Richard? Probably just a ball bearing and spring. Other than that just drop the sump and change the pump.
It does, but inside the pump. I am going to swap the filter next (not a likely culprit, but possible). If that doesn't work, the pan has to come off.
The dash is just like body work, fill and sand then wrap. "Weird beard* has a pretty good 101 video he even messes it up the first time so you know what not to do.
Right on. Christina is doing exactly that, and it looks amazing so far.

Thanks for the feedback!
Too bad i recently sent a full set of Torino GT rims with the caps to the scraper ☹️
Hey guys where did you find that Torino I had one exactly like it in the 90s I lived in sparta nc when I owned it
It was in a closed junkyard near Manchester Tennessee.
@whattherust ok I'm sorry but I think that was my car. My wife just had a new baby we had to move to south Carolina I had to trade it for something cheaper on gas I loved that car I hope you guys are able to enjoy it
leave the bloopers in !!!
Ford used 20w40 back in those cars stock ,so if you use 10w40 you'll lose a good 10 psi oil
Back to captions mute audio
Drop that oil PAN and pull out that oil pick up and make sure that it's cleaned out it could be stuffed up underneath the screen And that front Fender please fix it
Agreed. That will be the next job on the list. The fender is on the list as well, just further down.
Is the car yours? Are you fixing it up for yourself or a fix and resell?
Hey Richard, did anyone ever tell you that you bear a strong resemblance to Country singer Webb Pierce?
I have not heard that before. I need to look that guy up!
Could you add a link yo your videos with a clickable link ? I have trouble finding your site for some reason.
Hey Bill, I am happy to help, but not sure what you mean.
You should pull it and rebuild it before you hurt the original motor
I have a couple more things to look at, but that may very well be what we do. There is some oil pressure, so it will be safe while I troubleshoot.
I hate the wheel and white letter tires; they spoil an otherwise great restoration. It's like replacing marble columns on a classic building with chintzy, aluminum posts.
Just change that oil pump 4 gods sake...obviously it's weak😂😂😂
Cragar good white letters not so much
The wheels, I don't hate the style I just can't stand the chrome pilling crappy brand.
