Every army will/does. It’s their current Vanguard box. It will be relabeled spearhead.
Vanguard boxes are also Spearhead boxes, so yes. Buy that box!
Yes, you can already buy it. I think most boxes are the old vanguard boxes anyways.

All the current current Vanguard boxes have been rebranded as "Spearhead". It's also shown on the Warhammer Community website under the Maggotkin of Nurgel faction focus at the bottom of the article.

Really looking forward to this game mode. I wonder, will this get similar treatment to the 40k app?
Is this an AOS lite? Which is not a bad thing if you’re a newbie.
Also, can you only use what’s in the spearhead boxsets? Or can I pick and choose my own 1000 army, like you can in AOS?
You use the models from the spearhead box and each will have specific rules - they are designed to be played head-to-head.

The Spearheads are listed here: www.warhammer.com/shop/age-of-sigmar/start-here If you're referring the Skaventide box, it's going up for pre-order on the same website this Saturday.
Please add more factions to Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin. This game so much needs new content

What books etc do you need to play spearhead?
Looks like a more accessible way to get into the larger version of the game. An interesting step up from Warcry (more units and groups with bigger models). I hope the boxes are more or less balanced.
What is the objective size? Same as the base game? 40m+3"?

Warhammer 40,000 needs its own version of Spearhead.
My guess is combat patrol will learn from this format and how it does, before implementing something similar itself later on down the line. At least thats a hope..
Spearhead is Age of Sigmar's version of Combat Patrol.
So like the failed Combat Patrol format for 40k....
