Loved the video, a lot of people don’t actually know that Rick Owens has said himself that one of his main inspirations was Ann Demeulemeester. Her legacy has seemed to go unnoticed amongst names like Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto, Helmut Lang etc
Nice little documentary, thank you. I never realized how much proto and post punk have in common. Let's just forget about that little blip that happened around the sex pistols. Lol. I like Ann's designs. Do you like Susie bick too?
Hey I don't know if you read the comments but I just wanted to know what brand the hoodie you wear in the video is from. By the way I also liked the video very much
The whole proto punk post punk comparison in the beginning is all pretty baseless and bare bones. To say they both were non conventional just describes punk in general. That’s the attitude... going against the grain which in terms of the music industry it was going against rock and roll. You mention Siouxsie and show a clip of television when talking about proto yet both bands are for sure post punk. Patti smith and VU should be some clear example of proto bands that started establishing the attitude, even The Rolling Stones with exile on main st.
As always great and well researched video. But pleaaaasse peoooople... yes Margiela wasn’t part of the Antwerp Six but his name is Martin Margiela not fucking Maison Margiela. I know the brands name is so but that just means “house” Margiela. Like some other labels also have this in their name or your saying it when u speak about a designer label in general when speaking in French or in well educated/posh language😅 So please guys don’t call the man Martin Margiela fcking Maison. Maybe that wasn’t intended but I think a lot of people always get this wrong, because it does not divide between the artist/designer Margiela himself as a person because it is referring to the company/brand he later created and isn’t connected to anymore...

i wonder why HER legacy has gone unoticed. It's weird how SHE is less known than all those other designers.
