- The Pittsburgh Steelers came away from day 2 of the NFL Draft with a great haul. Center Zach Frazier, receiver Roman Wilson and linebacker Payton Wilson all where top valued players. Chris Carter explains where he had them on his big board, and how each player was selected at the right part of the draft for amazing value.
Chris also explains why Frazier and Troy Fautanu are both plug and play starters on the offensive line, and how they can set the unit up to be elite with Broderick Jones for years to come. Roman Wilson's skill set matches well with George Pickens, and Payton Wilson's potential was too good to pass up for his injury history at 98th overall.

Steelers have to come away feeling good about themselves. All solid picks including 98th that landed LB Payton Wilson. Unreal draft so far it scores A+
Khan is having another high quality draft. Fautanu and Frazier are both day one upgrades, big upgrades. Wilson and Wilson are high quality in later rounds. We have three starters and a nickel LB that could start if needed.

This draft is unreal. Hopefully Roman turns out as good as hyped because of his size vs other options. Wanted Frazier coming in - so lucky he was still there! Khan-artist had a feel for how the board was falling. Hell, Roman was a top 5 available at 51 and he goes 84. Payton Wilson is that coverage linebacker we need and dude plays with balls (F the injury history he’s been healthy). A+ draft so far. A CB, possibly another WR and maybe grab Jalen Green at the end of Rd 6. Let’s go!!
Khan and Weidel are at it again! Patience, diligence, and a little bit of luck. They got the meat and potatoes, bring on the gravy! CB, DL, and maybe a double dip somewhere.

Steelers drafted players with tons of college playing experience. They didnt want projects, they want plug and play guys. Benton, Frazier and Wilson all have wrestling backgrounds...training camp should be fun...cant wait to watch Benton and Frazier lock horns in 1 on 1 drills

Payton Wilson was 1st team All American. Won the Butkus award and the national defensive player of the year for a reason. Will start day 1. Have been watching him for a long time. Hasn’t been injured since 2021. Played last two seasons healthy and led NC State in tackles in 2020. Absolute monster. Has a Steelers attitude as well.

this is a first for me,, I watch every year and they have never taken a position or a player I wanted on the team,,,, so far 4 picks and they have taken 3 that were on my target list and a LB that I never looked at because I never thought he would be there for pick 98, but I was wanting a LB and a CB so Payton Wilson was right on target,,, if they pick up a CB , as far as I am concerned the draft is complete,,, it has been a great draft

Steelers have always been know as a team that drafts well! Oh and yes Hines is one of if not the best run blocking receiver there has ever been! As far as Payton he ran that well after his last knee problem which was what 5 years ago so his speed and movement is 100% and as for the shoulder meh. Circumstances are what play into injuries not just the their physical makeup! Anyone can be injured on any given play so it's pretty much a mote point since there will always be those that avoid injury and the rest that get hurt because a cleat slipped on a rain soaked field but in either case it's still a gamble because that guy who has made 80 consecutive starts could've gotten hurt at anytime it just didn't happen. If someone is to brittle to play they don't make it this far and he won the Butkus award this past year well after all those injuries! Steal of the Draft!

Funny too, I remember that '98 Draft like it was 26 years ago ; ), and I told my wife, "Babe, the Steelers just made the pick of the day!"
So I told her about Hines, described his game, etc. Long story short, Hines Ward became her favorite NFL player of all time.
And we've still got a signed Hines Ward framed photo in the living room.
Me? I love Hines, but I am a 1970s kid. And the Pittsburgh Steelers were absolute heroes to me then. I loathe the Cowboys and LOVE the STEELERS ✨

Draft so far A+ and we still have 3 more picks so as far as I'm concerned it couldn't have gone any better so far remember we still have Calvin Austin I believe he is as good as DJ if given the chance and we've only lost 1 receiver from last year and we have already added 4 receivers that we didn't have last year so why do we still need to add a receiver???
Because Javon Baker is just sitting there and his upside is through the roof. Imo this guy is gonna be a stud with the ability to play inside and out. If he falls to 119 he should be the pick. You can take a slot cb in the 6th

Michigan ran the ball alot and well i forgot his names but he got drafted last night so far A PLUS draft
that RB is 5'7 lol. He was only good cuz Michigan had the best OL in the country by a mile

B grade...Roman Wilson can't run route and he's 5'11 and he is a slot which means he needs Receivers 1 & 2 must pull coverage for him...Yes he can work out but we need a Vet Receiver now...That pick didnt solve our issue...Payton Wilson is fabulous but he had a injury every year...He is also the only player I've heard of that doesn't have a right knee ACL...I love him but he may not last long but a great player...So a B grade

Prior to last season they brought in four O lineman and moved up in the Draft to take Jones. They brought in three backers and a WR. They still had a Tomlin special "throw away" season. This Draft looks par for that course imo. See no reason to not to expect more of the same.
I think Arthur Smith is going to use Friermuth and the other TE's as well as the wide outs. We will be good and next season we get a first round CB and WR to fill out the roster
This is the last year for Friermuth; time to either become a consistent star or we need to move on. I think Darnell Washington could be great, they need to find a way to utilize him and get him rolling

I just keep daydreaming about Najee, and Jaylen breaking off some crazy runs. Behind this new look O-Line. Oh boy, although I will say. Broderick should be moved back to his natural position. With these players we are drafting and the free agents we have picked up, I’m expecting to see a much more disciplined locker room, especially on offense.
The steers wide receive the room is a track team😂 I expect us to have an exclusive offense too much speed not to use by just handing off the ball.
Roman Wilson reminds me of a faster Golden Tate. Plays with similar tenacity at WR.

This years line should be a physical beat you up line and Najee and Jalen will add to beat you down mentality and our defense will be scary
McCarthy didn’t have the ability to get that ball to Roman correctly. Roman is a beast. That’s why he won that #1 jersey at Michigan after having #14. He’s going to flourish with us. Especially run after the catch. Deontay drops too much and he was slow.
How about this...
Move P. Wilson to SS and use him as the 3rd Safety in the 3-3-5 DEF formation they use that has 3 Safeties in it. (Fitz, Elliot, and Wilson being the Safeties)

I like Roman Wilson he has potential and I think he will be good but to say the wr room is fine now and we don’t need a guy like aiyuk anymore because we got a 3rd round rookie is kind ridiculous this wr core is still very mediocre if pickens goes down the wr core is Roman Calvin Watkins and van jefferson if the goal is to make a deep run this year that’s not gonna cut it we need 1 more wr

@@jtfike tbh at this point I don’t even think he’s an option deebo is prob more realistic and that seemed to fall through. I think a guy like courtland Sutton might be our best option right now which I think would fit well cuz he’s big physical chemistry with Russ plays the X and prob much cheaper than aiyuk deebo etc. but we just need someone and I don’t think anyone left in the draft will fill that void like we need it we need a vet in this young wr group

agreed, Wilson isn't an outside WR. We still need an X. Have to trade for Sutton, Aiyuk or Higgins(not happening) to be contenders this season

Zack Frazier played for West Virginia with a player from my hometown Uniontown Pa Rodney Gallagher. Rodney played football for the Laurel Highlands Mustangs, quarterback and wide receiver.
