Instability in my knee has come back from ACL surgery some years ago. Think its time to use leg exts and curls before i squat heavy again.
None of that happened when I had my ACL done. Quite the opposite. They told me to stay away from it. They had me backwards pushing a stool around a track forever.
In terms of bodybuilding my glutes are so big and dominant I use the leg extensions all the time because my quads lag a lot
Same extract situation. I would love to see myself develop massive quads to make my glutes appear more in proportion
@@bradleyjpaolucci Squats are good but after that it’s all quad isolation because I want 0 glute activation after that
You got that stupid diaper look?
What are y’all talking about? The leg extension is great!!
im tellin you man haha
know plenty of accident victims and doctors advised leg extensions that killed them in pain. second doctor advised. body weight squats. and he healed
If one is unable to do deadlifts, squats due to chronic low back and musculoskeletal issues.
Which alternatives leg compound exercises can you recommend ? Also, is the leg press safe enough whether its horizontal or the 45 degree one?
Cheers
Im dealing with the same problem.
For now I do bulgarian split squats, lunges and some machines for legs for finish.
For the leg press you will need to try, feel it and listen to your body. I did not use it until now, in matter of fact, today will be first day I will try leg press.
Cheers
Bulgarian split squats… or better yet… properly setup leg extensions and hamstring curls. These movements are as cool looking but biomechanically they work the hams and quads in the optimal range of motion. Definitely work in a squat movement (even unloaded) for mobility
A much better option could be zercher squats
"Your leg of your weight" 2:11 lol
It's my favorite 🎉
Leg extensions brings out my sweep
💯
stationary bike is a better preexisting and warmup then leg extension preparing hips besides quads WHICH LEG EXTENSIONS DONT DO
leg extension is one of the most amazing piece of equipment, 4 different spacing with ur feet brings 4 entirely different muscle groups. These guys seem clueless..
Best quad builder is the leg extension machine. Don’t mislead people.
what about leg press
@@princerak8881leg press sucks
If you want massive quads?
Spam leg extensions
You kick soccerballs all day, ut no leg extension?
I've torn my ACL and never used a Leg Extension because it is bad for your knee. I've been to multiple facilities, different states and companies, and no one uses Leg extension machines for ACL recovery. They will use their own leg weight for motion and have a straight leg while sitting on the floor and squeeze their quad for activation while trying to hit the floor with the back of their knee. But no, using a Leg extension machine is not correct. If you want this contraction, they go to a cable or band and place it above your knee, then you let it fall forward and then straighten it and squeeze.
The excercises you are using in your example are easier variations that are safer (but bcs it’s safer it’s putting less stress on the quad etc...) but leg extension is one of the ending phases
@@gillesdepotter390 Idk. I've been around to various doctors, surgeons, and PTs. Not once did anyone recommend or tell me to do it. All told me to stay away. It's the equivalent to a preacher curl bench. Cool, but some serious shoulder problems could occur and not worth it for the little gains
@@mitchellnebrosky2765 it's definitely been heavily demonized. There's a place for it in ACL rehab, especially eccentric leg extensions. It's very helpful for quad activation and strengthening imo. I had ACLR in Oct 2019 and will highly recommend it for mid-stage rehab.
I did lots of leg extensions in therapy a lot
@@mitchellnebrosky2765 most doctors will also tell you it's bad to lift heavy weights. Also physical therapist near me have leg extension machines.
