Steve and Bucky have one of the most touching relationships in pop-culture and It's great that people are finally realizing that two men can have a deep love and respect for each other in a way that isn't sexual. Just to clarify there is nothing wrong with being Gay but I think it shows a very immature mindset that is very prevalent in western society that if two men share a bond it HAS to be sexual. Women are allowed to express affection for other women without it being interpreted as sexual but people are so uncomfortable with male-bonding/affection they rush to labeling such displays as Homosexual so they can at least justify their discomfort by saying "Those guys MUST be gay". I heard a wartime reporter talking about what it was like going out on patrol with soldiers and he said it was the camaraderie that kept him going out with them again and again even though he wasn't a soldier. He said the number one thing he learned from war after watching soldiers risk death time and time again to rescue an injured comrade was that "It is the only time we allow men to love one another without fear of criticism." I thought that was incredibly sad.
It's very sad and very true, but we live in a world where friendship and comaraderie seem to be less and less valued and everything has become sexual. In a way, despite homosexuality being now generally accepted in the Western world, it has led to any sign of affection to be seen as romantically or sexually motivated, even more so than years ago. It's great that it's now accepted, the problem is that now people see it everywhere, even more so than they used to and that still hurts, conditions and often prevents people, but mostly men, from showing and acting on their more gentle side. I love these two and their relationship so much. I don't care if they remain best friends or if, in an act of sheer defiance, Marvel decides to actually give them romantic feelings for each other. To me, they already have one of the most beautiful love stories ever. Friendship is love too, and theirs is true and pure and has stood all tests and time.
TheMuph I've been in the military for 14 years now. These relationships like Steve and Bucky have are very real. The dynamics of military friendships are very different from civilian friendships. Special bonds are formed, these are the people you would literally die for no questions asked. It is sad that people always have to sexualize everything. I was very blessed to have a relationship like that. It was a brother/sister relationship. There was never anything sexual between us but as always, people liked to speculate because we were ALWAYS together. But he was my big brother and I looked up to him. He had been in longer than me and he taught me the ropes. We would spend the weekends at the ranger practicing and perfecting our techniques. Even to this day, when I'm at the range I can hear his voice telling me to use my sling and pull my rifle in tight. He died a few years ago and not a day goes by that I don't think about him and miss him. Sorry for all that. This just brought back a lot of memories for me.
lmao i don't know in what world you live in cause it's been 5 years since you wrote this comment and there's yet to be a gay superhero. you're just a homophobe, you don't have to hide behind "unu male friendship, so underrated" you could just say it straight up
Oh my god the emotions here. I do NOT think they would ever have a romantic relationship, but that doesn't mean they didn't love each other beyond words. They had one of the most heart-warming relationship I've ever seen, and I miss them to this day.
I'm just gonna say that this song is so fitting because of the story. Friends since childhood all the way through the hardest times, (War.. duh) and its was so hard watching two of the most amazing duo become "enemies" for quite some time. I think it just fits in well of how Bucky might have felt during that time
The one dislike was Tony
This is perfect. The moment at the beginning when he falls with the shield and the flashback then - just wow.
Ah, thanks. Much appreciated. :)
Tony needs to stop disliking these videos

I'm very sorry for your loss Baroness1015. For what it's worth your friend is very lucky to have someone miss him as much as you do.
TheMuph Thank you.

I know another song you could use for these two - "Running up that Hill" by Track and Field.
Leathurkatt I've been thinking about that song.
