I totally started crying my eyes out when I realized another layer of why I went tiny: I needed to create the safe home I never had. The Tiny House of Peace is exactly that, I just never thought of it in those terms. Thank you! ❤️😭❤️
Yes. Now, her home wouldn't work for where I am, in nw WI ( and I'd need much larger kitchen and a root cellar in the floor (?)... ) but still an inspiration.
I've been doing a lot of research on Tiny Houses and unfortunately it's better to build on longer trailers like 40ft and 45ft therefore you can get the most out of it. I've been seeing a lot of mistakes people make when they build their Tiny Houses this includes the Tiny House Builders. This Tiny House is nice however she cheated herself out of 20 to 25 additional feet , if she wanted to have a family she would have to build another one and this one took her too long to build

Yes, this ^. I love how Mariah has designed her place, and seems to have built confidence and strength along with a wonderful tiny home that suits her needs. The burning of the wood cladding yields a great look along with practical purposes. Well done!
I'm confused! Did you know her before 'her confidence'? It seems the confidence would have already been there for her to take on this project. Just sayin'
I always admire people that without any prior experience have the confidence and can-do attitude to take on what I would find a daunting project like building a house. I like the aesthetic and minimalism of her home. The one constant that I see with almost all of these tiny home builds is that they tend to have to rely on the generosity of someone with land giving them a place to park their homes. That for me would be a concern. But congrats to her for not only building herself a home, but for turning the experience into a business for herself. Truly remarkable and good for her.
Yes, but hopefully more and more places allow them easier, for those who can buy or rent a lot to put them on. I've seen them in campgrounds, or one that looked like one, anyways. That was in northern IL a few years ago, and several of the campgrounds around there were open year round ( you could live there if u want to, some did ). Here in nw WI, counties to the north west of me ( I'm in Dunn co. ), away from the more urban areas and the interstates , often have less rules etc. for what size of dwelling you can have on your land to live in. It's so dumb though, that they're not allowed at the very least, anywhere a mobile home would be. IMO almost all tiny houses look 10x more attractive than most mobile homes, esp. since that look ( of even the newer mobile homes & "park model" campers ) is so out of style compared to any style of tiny home. Many styles and colors I wouldn't personally choose, I wouldn't mind seeing in my neighborhood ( not all, but most ! ).
Hey there, Ho--Simplistic isn't a compliment to someone. I know you meant it as such but you can just call it simple. Simplistic means overly simple or shallow. I correct people because many times something erroneous gets repeated over and over again and that makes it more deeply ingrained.

Yeah so simplistic I would call it a glorified "CABIN" not a "TINY HOUSE". This is missing so much; no proper kitchen, no proper bathroom (no bathroom sink and no toilet), no laundry facility. It is easy to see how this simplistic bedroom with shower inside could be so cheap...
@@natalies753 I disagree. What's a "proper kitchen," anyway? There's a cooking element, refrigeration, a sink, counter space, enough storage space for Mariah. Creative use of materials for all the dishes she needs. Seems complete to me! Congratulations on building your own home and achieving your goal of stability! I'm always amazed at anyone willing to use public restrooms. I hope that you can get your composting toilet soon.
12,000 might sound like a lot but it's basically a years rent of $1000. So, as long as she lives there for more than a year she's made her money back. It's also very cute and essential the size of a small studio apartment. Love!
Given her tiny shack doesn't have a toilet, laundry, proper kitchen etc and she does not own the land, I'm sure she will be paying some rent to live where she's located her shack and for access to the communal facilities.

@@natalies753 I think homes can vary a lot, as long as they suit the needs of those living there. I've seen many tiny homes on RUclips that utilize one sink for both kitchen and bathroom needs. And others (not as many, but still) that specifically mention they use public facilities for the bathroom and laundry.
@@musicismylove92 Yes, sorry my comment was more directed at my irritation by the RUclipsr's description of this as a "TINY HOUSE", when it is so lacking, and the price isn't actually that good when it lacks so many basic facilities. The description had me excited for a minute there. But yes, that aside, so long as it suits the person living there. I would personally call this a cabin though, not a tiny house. Can understand using a public laundry if you were just the one person, but don't like the idea of young women (myself included) having to leave their home/building to go to the bathroom after dark. Hope she is living in a safe area!
I already saw this house in another video. This is a beautiful home and one I will happily want to see again. Looks so much bigger than 156 sq ft. I love the Japanese outside wood treatment.

I guess some people just like being able to cook healthy food at home by themselves without having to rely on using other people's kitchen's or takeaways. I wouldn't be able to cook my usual healthy meals in that tiny "kitchen". Yeah I couldn't imagine not even have a toilet, or a laundry for that matter. But I guess it's a nice enough cabin for a young girl to have built herself.

Thank you for introducing Mariah on your channel. Women of color are rarely captured living this lifestyle. Such an inspiration to me and my tiny home endeavers.
Wow :)) she is so cool! And, she obviously has quite a gift for architecture and design and building... truly impressive and inspiring, what she's doing... and, how she shares her story is empowering! I know there's a ton of Sweat Equity in this project but what a great investment in her home and in herself. Great video... thank you, Jenna :)
Congratulations on building your own home and achieving your goal of stability! I'm always amazed at anyone willing to use public restrooms. I hope that you can get your composting toilet soon.
🙌🏽🙌🏽She’s beautiful & so is her home!😊👌🏽
12,000 might sound like a lot but it's basically a years rent of $1000. So, as long as she lives there for more than a year she's made her money back. It's also very cute and essential the size of a small studio apartment. Love!
Given her tiny shack doesn't have a toilet, laundry, proper kitchen etc and she does not own the land, I'm sure she will be paying some rent to live where she's located her shack and for access to the communal facilities.
Mariah is amazing!! Loved her drive to truly DIY the whole home, make it her own and suit her needs perfectly :)
The whole home is just a bedroom with a basic extremely simple desk space and a shower... A whole home should have a proper kitchen, a proper bathroom (there is no bathroom sink or even a toilet), and no laundry... This is a glorified cabin not a proper tiny home.
@@natalies753 Truth, definitely a good point about the safety aspect!! No need to apologize, I appreciate the different points of view
@@musicismylove92 no, its not "different points of view"
every person has to take a shit and bathe/shower.
so is this a home?
This is one of the most beautiful tiny houses I’ve seen, especially in that price range! Awesome job!
I already saw this house in another video. This is a beautiful home and one I will happily want to see again. Looks so much bigger than 156 sq ft. I love the Japanese outside wood treatment.
I'm impressed that you welded all that. It's a valuable skill and not easy to do. And the way you integrated the metal framing as part of the finish, works better than expected. Good job.
Love, love, love ur shower! Though I wud need my own toilet and I am bougie, I wud need an AC/Heater unit. I totally agree with u on the small kitchen though, I’ve never understood those kitchens that take up half the Tiny house. Oh, and I love the outdoor shower!
love the shower! It's def my fav part of her house.
Natalie Z - Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, no laundry machine, no one seems to have that, I need that, I’m not going to a laundromat.
@@imcharmed4evr many have the washer/dryer combo in their tiny home or washer and dryer stackable. Sometimes you see them separate in longer ting homes and more Sq ft
The only thing I want is a square tiny kitchen with counter space and a HUGE sink, I can make everything if I have space to prep and a nice sink for clean up. Her home is lovely
Love the design and the simplicity of it.👍👍❤ Thanks Jenna for sharing her story.
Your story was so intriguing. I liked that you shared some personal reasons why you started building your home. This is beautiful and inspirational. Thank you for sharing.
Way to go!!! THe house you made is BEAUTIFUL! Love the wood burning technique you used for the wood outside your house. Great idea!!! And non toxic! You really did a great job! All the best to you in your field of work. You really made a nice place there. Bravo!
I love how you used the nook over the hitch as your shower! So glad you trusted yourself and inspired others, too!
I love this design! I love the bed area! She is such an inspirational young woman! Wow! Smart, articulate and making her dreams come true! I’m hoping to build a tiny house in my retirement in just a few years and know I don’t want to deal with steep stairs to a tiny loft, so her bedroom idea is brilliant! Plus her kitchen is so practical! I love the look of open shelves....and that shower is beautiful and practical! All I’d add is a indoor toilet and a small seating area. So many great ideas! Thank you!
That’s awesome. Good for her. Glad she has a place she can call home. Big difference from living somewhere and having a home.
That's a huge point, Andrew!👍
I love Mariah's beautifully-designed tiny home, with the burnt wood cladding, awesome shower, and minimalist style. Thanks for sharing. Jenny :o)
What an incredibly talented and inspirational young woman!
This is probably one of the most beautiful tiny homes that I have seen!
I absolutely LOOOOVED this! Especially as a woman of color also. She is not only beautiful for very intelligent and caring 💝 Thank you for this video 💗
Love the build! The exposed conduit looks really good too
Beautiful house. Building for warm climates is so much easier than at locations where temperatures range from -25c to +40c... Where full insulation is a must and eg on demand water heaters can definitely not be put outside.
This book is awesome if you're thinking of making some cool stuff for your garden. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxzaRUJNcbypw-fRBDbqqz43ULIa-1EGP- It has tons of plans for all kinds of things, like storage sheds, picnic tables, single garage plans, dog kennels, and garden swings. I'm hooked on this book forever. Thanks, Ryan! There's so much content in these Shed Plans. It's amazing! For long-term service, it seems like it's worth spending a bit more money. Ryan, you're so generous to share all this info with us, and at such a low price.
Wow, the exterior and interior (walls) are so similar to the super-expensive one posted at the same time in Living Big in a Tiny House!
The bed design is perfect - conserving as much space as if it had been placed in a separate loft!
Wow. Just wow. Everything about it is a perfect work of art.
I'm Inspired beyond! Her beautiful creation! her story! Her Fearless single-mindedness! THANK you for this wonderful journey! One of the best experiences!!!💖
Classic example of what solo women can do, more power to women! Amazing inspiration 💜
This is I think one of the most genuine and most amazing episodes I have seen. Wow, I love her energy, and she's brilliant. She's amazing. And for that PRICE, WOW
Totally an excellent design! And the creator is even more exceptional! I am blown away by everything you managed to accomplish on so tiny a budget!
This is one of my favorite tiny houses of all that I have seen. Love the modern, light, airy, look about it. Love the polycarbonate windows, shower, and pull down tables. The price is unbeatable.
Absolutely gorgeous home! I am awed by her style and the functionality of the space. Love.
Super brave and admirable! What’s great example of doing what needs to be done by educating yourself and good old-fashioned trial and error! Re-watching this video with my 9-year old daughter 💗💗
Mariah's attitude is incredible. Herherselfcould all learn a lot from this girl.
Really appreciate her context and background on the why. I can relate to the need for a safe space that I can count on.
Wow, can’t believe she learned how to do all of this herself. Amazing effort! I am extremely inspired. Love this space 😍
Love the style, finishes and textures you've selected. You're brilliant! Continue to bless and be blessed.
You’re an extremely talented and creative young lady. Congratulations and keep building and enjoy your beautiful home.
I am in my sixties and look forward to buying a tiny home or container home with the basics and then add my own touch to it. Your build is awesome!
What an inspiration! I love that door as well. I always wondered why exterior doors were so darn expensive. That looks so seamless and works so well. 👏
Great story. All the reasons why I’m considering a tiny home. This is how we cure homelessness AND teach life skills. Great story. Thank you for sharing. This one meant a lot to me personally. I can relate to her.
I love that you did this yourself! I too live in San Diego, in Chula Vista! It is my near future dream to design & build a tiny house too!
Hi! I wish to live there and wondering how can i acheive building something as she did? How is life there?
I love her inner strength and vision! She is so talented, smart, and brave! I can totally relate to not having role models that look like me yet, needing to find my own way...Then, there's her actual home and the design, decor, style..! Just wow! She should be so proud of herself!
These videos are so polished, well edited and presented. Thank you so much :)
WOW, what a home! incredibly beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful! Functional, roomy and peaceful space and setting. Another great layout too to show you can go without a loft. Ps Please ignore any negative comments, you've done an amazing job on your home :-)
Beautiful home! One of the few tiny homes where the steel front door makes one feel actually safe inside. I often wonder why many tiny homes have front doors with a huge glass panel.
Such an amazing accomplishment. Inspiring! Beautiful.
Mariah, your story, your house is inspiring and beautiful. I love the simplicity and the "safe, tranquil " aspect of your beautiful tiny. Thank you for sharing a part of your life story....it warmed me
Such an creative and sympathetic young woman!!! 👏
Your home is beautiful. THe most innovative part of your design is the raised bed. It looks great and makes your storage easily accessible. Congratulations.
Really nice and clean - for s warm climate! Impressive that she taught herself all the skills!
first lovely greetings from central europe.
Awesome! Love ur front door so unique! Black and wood contrast, placement of windows, everything is well planned out, 🌺🌈🌴🌋💥🤙🏾🥂
My children and me have been homeless for 5 years and when I watch these videos it gives me hope🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Maybe I could get a Tiny House 🏠 for us🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
❤ Love this one ❤ The best Tiny House channel out there 👍
WOW!.. just WOW! How talented is this woman! And what a beautiful space. Great success is hers.
I mean.. imagine having that for every single member of family of 4..
You get a pretty cool house for about 50k !
A house without a toilet, no proper kitchen, no laundry and not owning the land. I don't think this was a great deal for 12K, it's basic as...
Strive to be you and not a statistic. You are creative and capable of anything you really want to do. Believing in oneself is a blessing. Your tiny house is beautiful and simple. We need more of that, I think. Great job so far, keep it going. 😊 Just wonderful.
Your videos are inspiring.
It's so nice and inspiring to see a young lady to build her own house. Congratulations and lots of happiness her way!🙌🏽🌺
🥰❤❤❤MARIAH!!!!! THANK YOU!!!! WOW! As a Blk women I am Soooo inspired to do the same! I am so inspired by Mariah's video! Great, great job and thank you for being so honest and keeping things so simple. I am so blessed to have found this video. Thank you Mariah 💕
I do like her inspired tiny home. I like her design style. I although would have to have a toilet because I pee alot with drinking water. 🤷♀️🤦♀️, and I would need a bit more storage space for the pantry and my clothes. Thank you for sharing this idea with me. 😊
Congratulations to this very strong, driven, young woman. Love her build, and hope only the best for Mariah. Good on her for starting a business and hope it all flourishes/blossomsfor her.🙏🏽💜
this is everything that i need👍
Wow!! I’m impressed. Very well thought out and very well done. Kudos to this young lady. She really really crested an amazing home for herself.
Beautiful!! You go girl👍
Wow...so young but so bright & introspective. What an inspiration to women everywhere. Well done!
Hi Mariah, I enjoyed your tour - creativity & "let's get it done" initiative.
One question, you mentioned "makerspace" - I'm familiar with what that is - how did you utilize it to get your tiny home project started?
Thank you Jenna for this share 🌠
This is so beautiful and serene, I really like the half loft idea, very cleaver, yet practical design. Great Job with the windows/natural light too.
I admire this young woman and what she’s accomplished so far. Looking forward to her to seeing where she goes in the future.
She needs to be an inspirational speaker at high schools around the country
Congratulations! It's beautiful! 🌹
You should put a toilette inside the shower and turn it into a "wet bath" like they have in some small campers. Personally a full bathroom would be a must for me, I don't know how you manage.
I’m sure she doesn’t she just built it to rent it out as an Airbnb aka scam
