when i was a kid, my parents would never save their change so i asked if i could have it each day for about six months. then i asked to go to the bank to cash it in when the coffee can was over half full (awfully heavy for a ten year old!). when they saw how much i got back they kept their change ever since. i keep mine as well but separate the pennies from the rest into different cans.
I bought my step son an old cadillac with change I had been saving just for him to turn around and sell the car .......I am now doing the 1 & 5 dollar challenge with spare change until my girls BOTH turn 18 I'm stoked that I have thousands of dollars saved but live like I am completely broke. Do you know why they had change in each bag? They probably made purchases, and threw the leftover change from the purchase in each bag afterwards? Just a theory, it gets debunked if many of the bags had over a dollar in them (greater than a change amount). PS: I make reselling YT videos with live footage from estate & garage sales. I save all my money I used to spend smoking cigarettes ($600 a year I rolled mine so it was $50 a month) and save all of my change and ones usually I have about $2,500 at the end of the year and our family goes on a nice vacation from it all during the summer 😎
Magnet fishermen in London are finding bags of coins in the canals near churches. I'm thinking it's some sort of religious practice to put items and coins in a bag and toss it in the water. Why you have found so many of them in a storage unit is beyond me.

My guess before I watch the rest..$874 Commentary: The US Mint says that it is becoming too expensive to make coins. My suggestion to them is have and support machines like this bank has that does not charge a fee to turn in coins and gives us cash not store credit. The result is that "we the people" will bring in all the jars and drawers with loose change. It will be like a making coins because all of a sudden tons of coins will be drawn out of our closets and into the economy. I mean why should I give any percentage (10%?) to CoinStar, I will just let it sit in the jar. The US Mint never responded to this suggestion.

Any coins you find that look or seem different from the typical money in circulation could be worth a lot of money. The quarter you held up look as if it was an error in the minting. Those may be worth something to a coin collector. I love finding the older coins.

It depends on the weight too! Some of those have silver in them. The more pronounced the head of Jefferson is the more silver there is. That is what I learned.
One of my uncles is a coin collector so he would buy lots of pennies and he would pull all of the valuable ones out then put the others aside and he gave it to me and my family and we ended up with 706 dollars worth of pennies!!!

At most banks, if you have an account with them they don't charge you for using the coin counter or coin star.
