Magene is doing things right. Tons of R&D, state of the art production facilities and good marketing. Thanks for the tour and a look inside to what they're up to!
People need to realise Chinese factories are some of the most sophisticated in the world resulting in very high quality products at low prices. Western consumers need to get over their reluctance to brands that they are not familiar with
I think most people are aware that Chinese manufacturing has come up to first class in the higher end now. For me and others the problem has been local distribution and fast turnaround if a warranty is required.
its already released, but only in selected authorized stores (probably 20 or so in China). My guess is the initial supply is limited, also Magene does not want to repeat mistakes Ltwoo and Wheeltop made when they released their products such as lack of clear instructions and quality control issue.
@@zhuyufan1186 wheeltop have bad qc. i got serious shifting problem after update the app. the 8-9 9-10 gear always shifting by it self up and down. and for the front derailer it cannot do adjustment by the apps only by screw it will rub the chain when use big gear. i hate wheeltop in conclusion.
You can get these existing Chinese groups at good (better) pricing. The MSRP are ridiculous and shouldn't be paid. The ltwoo er9 for example shouldn't be had for more than 450$. 500$ if you're in a hurry. But more than that and it's probably worth considering other options.
Impressive stuff. One product that’s missing from the market is a new version of the Lemond fan trainer. They’re really popular in the track community. If a brand decided to build something similar, that is compatible with track bikes, they’d get many cycling federations and track riders as customers.
You should do a bike shootout from all your road frames: Bigrock aero, tavelo arow, quick pro, ... maybe add in a tarmac SL7 as a bench point. Build them out with the exact same components (besides the frameset and handlebars). Then have a group of riders that are roughly the same size ride the bikes: on the flats, in the hills, around a crit course/handling course... then have the riders rank the bikes and talk about each frame's pros and cons.
Very impressive tour of the factory and the groupset seems very good, rim brake option ❤ and even looks good 😊 hmm look forward to see it released.. do they have good warranty for uk ? Pete 🚴🏻👍
I do most of my TrainerRoad workout on my Magene T100 and that got me so much fitter, faster and stronger! I paid full retail on them and have only good things to say about them. With such good experience, I test rode their 2nd tier Exar (a tier below Exar Ultra) wheels and was pleasantly surprised. That’s 2/2 for me! Up next, I might get their HRM and non touch screen cycling computer like C406 Pro. Thank you for the tour!
I am using Magene T600, great product, replaced my Neo 2T (for less than half the price). I am surprised almost no English speaking youtuber taking about this trainer
Any updates on the Quick pro frame (when it will come to Panda Podium). And what about that Pardus Spark... It looks VERY aero. I see the Bigrock Aero frame on your website, are you going to send that to someone to review, or does one of the china intercontinental race teams use Bigrock? Can you list which China teams use which frame with a link to their race results? That would help western riders take the leap of faith and purchase one of these frames... Or start sending these frames to Patrick Lino and similar youtubers that do thorough and honest reviews.
Wow. So maybe I can have an affordable pedalbased power meter? I thought I'd never see the day. If they make a MTB version of that it will be amazing 🤩
I had the first model of their power cranks and they were okay, but i sold on the set as i was disappointed with the battery level and charging positions. Apart from that a nice product and the newer spider crank seems better from reviews. I use the c606 computer, radar light and cadence sensor and very happy with the products. Im looking forward to their power pedals but i hope they are ddesigned for shimano spd road cleats not oem.
Was onboard with first pm on Kickstarter years ago, bought pes505 off Panda podium. Two things European availability (DC) and warranty. Then they might have something. Electronic gruppo - when?
Magene spider power meter looks like a Power2Max, their pedal power meter looks like a Assioma. Is that a coincidence or were they mfg for these other brands before patents ran out?
Bought a Garmin 1030 + for $319.99, from Garmin itself, last year during prime day. Most manufacturers have some type of msrp guidelines but with the current economy they are getting creative so be alert.
the magene (onefitlapp) app required for their GPS is so fucking bad i never want to touch anything that requires it again until they've fired and replaced everyone involved with its development
@@FT__Bicycling_____-sc7yv perhaps. I guess patent law was drawn up by Western capitalism to suit capitalists. Is that always best for the consumer though? And that's not to say I agree that the Chinese are mearly happy to copy a product either.... no, they generally want to improve it. I'd also say that many things that China excels in are NOT in patent minefields... bicycle frames and wheels for instance.
That is impressive. Interesting to learn they have their own eco system which I think will provide better support if you own their products and have a problem. Offering a rim brake electronic offering will mean that a lot of people will not have to buy new bikes just to replace their worn out components and at the same get to upgrade to some modern options. Great company for sure. I only hope Trump doesn't screw this up for those of us in the United States.
Joe I like your website and my purchase of the CRW wheelset has been awesome. I don't share your enthusiasm with Magene, however. I purchased a Base P505 powermeter crankset direct from Magene and my experience has been terrible. I tested the PM against separate pedal based PM's and the Magene is erratic both in average power and LR power. The customer service on the issue has been non-existent and no warranty service. It is not a quality or reputable company. I would stick to marquee manufactures when it comes to PMs. The Magene was a rip-off. I wish you were not hawking the company.
Strange one. I'll do some more investigating. I've not ridden my 505 for a while, but when I did (test against Assioma) it was accurate. Maybe your particular one has an issue? Also, also... not gaslighting, but power meters in general seem very unpredictable... look at the Shimano fiasco. Its really hard to monitor how accurate everyone's is., because most people are just using it as a single source. Anyway, hope you get it resolved, I shall look into it here.
Still struggling with PES505 left arm loosening. Every bike we have touched in the shop, our own bikes, customer bikes etc. Surely they have received the feedback. ?
@@cookiecrumbler79 everything was done according to the instructions, including changes in variants of the preload cap, O rings etc. latest gen has a little "expander" add-on to address loosening I suppose. But problem still exists
I hate the charging system for power meters these days. Pedal or spider based, its literally the same cheap magnetic gold dots that transfer the electricity as the horribly cheap ear pods that literally all come from China. Since when did this design even come into existence? It sucks!
Tell them they should introduce a 20gram computer head unit for people doing climbing PRs. Can be simple and have shorter battery life. No mapping except maybe a preloaded climb segment display.

It was very impressive to see the scale of things.
Also a half decent name. Who really wants to ride a Quick-Pro or Big Rock?

Something that I'd love to do... but the hours of work in that are insane. Will defo start working towards it though.
Absolutely staggering. Great insight, thanks Joe.

I got their computer and no problems at all, got 1x speed sensor 1x cadence sensor and §x HRM. Always functioning
If the Magene radar is anything to go by their products are rock solid. Bring on that groupset.
Man, that was a great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video. China is still rocking. They need to transition to selling more stuff to their own people. This is a great example.
Audio during the interview was low and the music too high.

Yeah, L-Twoo's new factory should be up and running now... lets see what happens.

Early next year for the grouppo I think. Many thanks for your custom!

They likely reverse engineered, but nah the others were made in Europe as I understand
The spiders look nothing alike, look at where the chainring bolt holes are on each one.
The level of automation in engineering plants these days is crazy, and this is just for bicycle parts.
We're moving into a new world.
It's the way forward to stop humans doing dirty, mundane and repetition hard labour.
I just bought a PM crankset and it arrived yesterday missing one Chainring screw. Tell them they owe me one, and i am expecting to get it!
Oops! I assume they'll sort you out... keep us updated.
What is everyone in Asia using for a bike computer? There has to be a 1040 equivalent out there for half the price that performs just as well.

I am surprised that the crank arms are machined versus forged, cold forged for strength
Normally not an issue for me, but the background music was too high when you were sitting with Frank.
My bad! 🙌
They gotta simplify their power meter crank arm design and prevent it from coming loose 😂
Who owns the company, how did Frank get the capital to fund the business?
Thats some solid miles!

Haven't yet, maybe in next few years

People always refer to 'cheap labour' as to why it's cheaper to manufacture in China. No... they automate.
Yup, and make / design most of the production machines in-house.
It's the intellectual theft and patent infringement that makes many Chinese things cheaper.
