I've been 39.5s on my 09 jk for 4 yrs now on all stock axles accept u joints n ball joints it's held up great we don't have many places to rock crawl up we have lots of big hill climbs n woods it's not the ideal set up but o well
THANKYOU this was the most informative video ive found on RUclips
Thanks!
The rear axle ahaft will not come out like that on a d44 if you brake a shaft. The picture you shared is of a c-clip axle, in fact it was a TJ d35. This is not the case with a d44.
Your right. It may not fly out like it would with a c clip axle but the main point was that the wheel is bolted to the axle shaft itself. So if you break an axle your aren't getting home
I don't eat pretzels, but I carry a partial bag to keep my water from sliding around
@@SoFloJeeping still false, remove the broken shaft bolt the flange back on and you still can drive on the 1 shaft. We've done enough trail fixes out here unless youve lived it you really dont know what's possible and whats not
I run taraflex rear and front axels with 4.88s and cvs in front on my 09 rubicon i can run 40s no problem but i prefer 35s and 37s
One other thing to keep in mind is the JK with 3.8 will pretty much not be adequate with 40 inch tires (doable yes but adequate not so much) even re-geared.
It does kinda suck but I'm running a 3.8 on 39.5 with 373 gears n pull a 21ft boat not fast but it gets there
Is 2.5 ton steering upgrade good for 40s
Maybe I’ll remortgage my house and get some fully built 80/80s on 44s, with a hellcat swap and full cage… maybe a cool sticker from auto zone.
Excellent informative video! Cleared up some ideas for me. Spend so much money on a 44/60 setup when you could just jump up to a full float setup. Only makes sense! 👊🏼
Yup! I spent about 8k for Tom's and after selling my rubi stuff I was only 4k out of pocket!
@@SoFloJeeping I need to rewatch your “How to do 1-ton video” My problem is not knowing how to weld 🤦🏻♂️
@@mrTaylorwellborn although I've practiced a bit since then, when I did my swap I didn't either. I paid a friend a couple hundred bucks to knock out the welding and I did all the cutting and prep worn
@@SoFloJeeping Not a bad idea! Do the hard work for them 🤘🏻
@@mrTaylorwellborn exactly lol
Have you ever used 4.88 Axle Gears on your 40" tires? I was just thinking that it would possibly give you better mpgs to counter act running heavy wheels and tires.
I run 40s on 4.88. My gas mileage is garbage.
My last mud dog was a lifted 78 3/4 ton and mud was nothing to me, but I saw Jeep's going places I couldn't fit
True Dana 60's or 14 bolts add a lot of weight, being lighter than trucks and shorter than trucks are probably the only reason not to drive a truck
You just messing with you man you did good enough
Thanks I guess lol
Alot of great info. Thanks man!
No problem! Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m debating on if I want to go one ton or not. I have a tj on 38.5 boggers and would love to go with 40s and tons instead of a g2 front and 8.8 rear but idk if I want all the weight of the one ton. The jeep was my grandpas so it’s irreplaceable if the frame gets twisted or whatever so idk if that would be an issue with one tons or not with the tj on tons. Also, I wonder if it would ride better with the one tons having the wider stance or if it would ride smoother with 8.8 and the g2 bc they don’t weigh as much
So it'd ride smoother with less unsprung weight. I wouldn't worry about frame twisting. If you already have the g2/8.8 I'd just leave that since tjs are light but if not might as well build some tons for the extra strength as it'll cost just about the same
So what you're saying is, no 40's 🤣. JK, gotta pay to play, but dang.
Tells you how valuable having some fabricating and design skills can be. Can save some serious money.
Absolutely. I paid a friend 500 to lay down pretty welds lol
Oh yeah my bad I do gears and lifts or customizations on Jeeps
Appreciate it!
When you say regear what do you recommend than for 30 or 44 or even the Dana 60 if we follow your guild line
For 40s I'd recommend 5.13s if you have a d30 or d44. The 5.38s are a bit too weak for comfort. If you have a 60 send it with the 5.38s
Hi man, I know you mentioned that you are running wide open design links for tie rod and drag link. I’m about reading to order mine want it to know if I’m in the right ball park for the lengths. Do you mind sharing your lengths that your order?? And maybe the heim joint also, if you don’t mind.
Yeah ill see if I can find my invoice. Heims I got from ruffstuff
52.5 and 37.5
@@SoFloJeeping hey thanks man! Yeah it looks like pretty close. 53.25 and 38.5. I’m also tuning a bit different set up in the front.
@@usman1673 looks like your in the ball park. Don't forget to account for the jam nut too
no 40s for me then. Can’t afford it😔
Can I just drop off my 04 rubicon have you build it run 40s to the most extreme 😀
😂😂 I'm not sure you want me touching it
How many times you going to do this video
Once I think?
Great video man! Good info keep it up
Thanks!
