    Thanks for doing this. I have to drive over my chains and I had a hell of a time getting the inner side connected since there's so little clearance. But your video helped a lot.

    The first time I used my chains I still had Turf tires on and after I switched over to the deep lug tires like yours I noticed how much more difficult but not impossible to put them on. I also noticed that tool you carried in your back pocket. I'm Old School US Army Military Police Retired and heavy or not I carry a genuine 1911 45 Caliber Pistol and I love that thing.

      You know, the tire chains on a BX with R4's are more difficult to install properly than chains on a larger tractor. How did the chains work with the turfs? I've heard they work really well. I carry a Sig P320 carry in 9mm. It has a 17+1 capacity. It is a bigger gun than most carry but it shoots really good and I like the capacity. Sig makes a 21 round for it. I need to get one of those to carry in my pocket. That 1911 is a big gun to carry. It is properly pretty valuable too. I bought 1911 a couple months ago. I got a 10mm Rock Island. It is my first 1911. I am going to get a nicer 1911 later on. That is something I need to research. I know a good one is going to be over $1,000. I've had a few people that have made negative comments when they see that I carry.

    • @kagnewmp12
      @kagnewmp12 2 года назад +1

      @@TractorTech I purchased my 1911 while I was still in the service through the On Post Gun club and paid around $300 for it which included several boxes of ammo. It is still in mint condition and I have turned down offers above the cost of a brand new one and it will go to my Son after I'm gone or mentally unable to carry it anymore. LOL I've carried a 45 since 1971 when I joined the Military Police at 18 and now 50 years later at 68 I still do. We must be able to protect ourselves and our Families.

      @@kagnewmp12 Thanks for your service. I was looking on gun broker at Colt 1911s and some on people are wanting $5k for some. That is good your are going to pass it on to your son. That would definitely be an heirloom.

    I have a BX25 and without chains, it is useless in the kind of snow we have here in eastern Canada. One piece of advice when installing on the BX is to ensure the chains are very snug on the tire as the clearance to the controls on the inner fenders is quite limited and you run the risk of hooking them and destroying the levers and possibly damaging the transmission. I remove the air from the tire and install the chains, then reinflate the tire which cinches the chain up quite a bit.

  • @richardross7219

    I just drive on. Too many times when jacking is not an option. Starting in November there is a set of chains in each of my vehicles. I don't care for 4wd but a limited slip rear with chains has always worked for me(53 years that I've been driving in snow). Good Luck, Rick

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  3 года назад +1

      I know a guy that plows a big parking lot. He has chains for his trucks and runs them in 2wd. A limited slip rear can really help in the snow. A lot of the times a driveway may have bare spot up the middle that you can get one tire in and go right up, but with out a limited slip you would not make it.

      The cheapest place you can find them. That would probably be tirechain.com. Get the 2 link spacing. If you want really nice chains see if you can find someone selling net style chains.

    On my John Deere LX 255 i have jacked the tractor up and put the chains over the top
    i has driven over the chains also but now i prefer to remove the wheel bring it in the house
    where it's warm and put on the chains & tensioners
    then go out to the tractor and slide the wheel on the axle and put the C clip on
    way warmer - seems i never put chains on when it's nice outside

    Hi Rodger,
    Looks like you got your chains from the same place I purchased mine in 2011 for my BX 2360. (Tirechains.com) I jack the rear up to put the chains on also. I use the front end loader to install the front chains. I crisscross three 30" bungees on each rear tire for chain tensioners and three 18" bungees on each front tire for chain tensioners. Just recently I purchased R2 Manufacturing's Edge Tamers. These things work fantastic for pushing snow around without the headache of picking up rocks in the driveway or gouging your yard.

    • @TractorTech
      @TractorTech  3 года назад

      Hi Alan. The rear chains came from my dealer. I needed them in a pinch and the price was comparable to tirechain.com. A loader makes it easy to put on front chains. The edge tamers look nice and everyone seems to like them. I rarely use the bucket in the snow. If I had a set I may.

      I have this video on front chains. ruclips.net/video/TTu_WEpxpz4/видео.html Some say it is fine to run them others say you will break the axle. I think if you don't spin the tires fast then let it catch traction it will be fine but that is my opinion.

      You order the chains by the size of the tire. For a Kubota bx2360 you need to look for chains for a 26x12-12 tire. If you can find net style chains that is what I recommend. They weren't available when I got these.
