  • This is a playthrough using Red Scorpion or ? in the Arcade version of Ehrgeiz: God Bless The Ring. Read on below for more information...
    Red Scorpion / ? is the "final boss" in this game whom you fight against during the credits (the scene with the 2 pedestals and 2 transparent boxes). He is an unplayable character.
    ===== ABOUT RED SCORPION / ? =====
    He is basically a clone of Django with a different "costume" or "skin", and he also seems to have the same moves as Django as well. I haven't tested this, but I am sure that with Red Scorpion being a bigger character, his hitboxes and damage-boxes are bigger too. Here is the information on him, as follows:
    ---- As mentioned earlier, he is the "final boss" whom you fight against during the credits (the scene with the 2 pedestals and 2 transparent boxes). When playing as Red Scorpion, you get to fight against Sasuke in this scene instead for some reason. And unlike CPU Scorpion, Sasuke can be defeated without using the items from the boxes.
    ---- He has an unlimited lifebar, which means he is invincible!
    ---- He cannot pick up any items.
    ---- He has a lower height jump than Django.
    ---- He seems to have difficult hitting and breaking boxes during gameplay.
    ---- On the character select screen, he uses Django's image portrait with a glitched name text.
    ---- After you beat the game and enter your initials, on the Results screen he uses Django's image portrait and "?" as his name.
    ---- He name appears as '?' underneath his lifebar. Normally when you fight him at the end of the game (during the credits), there are no lifebars so you usually don't get to see this.
    ---- He can appear on the high score/time ranking screen with an [?] image icon and his name being "?".
    ---- He can also be known as Armored Django.
    ---- "Ehrgeiz" is a German word, and it means "ambition". It's pronounced as "air-geitz", not "ur-guyz". =)
    ===== ABOUT EHRGEIZ =====
    Ehrgeiz is a 3D fighting game developed by Dream Factory, who are the creators of the Tobal games and the company are a subsidiary of Squaresoft (not sure about now). Namco published the game for the Arcades.
    The game does not use the typical versus fighting game controls, instead it uses a free roaming 360 degree movement system where you can move around the arena, much like the one found in Power Stone and wrestling games. As well as that, there are also changes in elevation in arenas and you can interact with certain objects, most notably the boxes. Breaking the boxes releases power-up type items and even a knife weapon.
    Interestingly, there are elements in the game that are based on Tekken... such as the main character Godhand, whose real name is Ken Mishima (no relation apparently lol), having moves from Kazuya, Heihachi, Paul and Baek from Tekken. Also, if you study some of the fighting animations of some of the characters, they are rather Tekken-like... for example some of the jump kicks.

    Sasukes shelter stage in the arcade version was always intended to be a mirror match. That's prolly why Sasuke is the end boss. Django being an npc created an extra character slot that is obviously unaccounted forcing Sasuke to be the final match as all base characters were intended to encountered. The Tekken similarities are likely due to the fact that director Seiichi Ishii had previously been at the helm of the first 2 Tekken titles.

    One of the PlayStation Magazines i borrowed from library theorized that ?'s moves were similar to Django, means this is Django's 2nd incarnation. Due to how he was heading down to that big chamber befofe it blew up.

    One of my favorite Fighting games ever.
    Some differences Arcade/PS1:
    -Naseem was cut in the PS1 version.
    -"You Win!" always appears in the PS1 version and no "KO" sign.
    -Extra Modes as minigames and the RPG Forsaken Dungeon.
    -Was included the Forsaken Dungeon heroes as unlockleable characters.
    -The stage screen only appears in the arcade version.

    This game has really good graphics for 3D fighting game of its generation. Lol the arcade version character select portraits (which the PS1 version demo was based on) are so ugly!

    I swear I read somewhere many years ago that Ken Mishima is a cousin of Kazuya and nephew to Heihachi. I can't recall where I read it though (dream factory consisted of several tekken and VF developers).
