This is one of most biggest hated moments in MK history Shujinko gets arrested for breaking curfew to a realm he is not even from and aged until he was a old man.
Yeah that's stupid 😡
@@quranbooker6655 It's why I find Hotaru a frustrating character,no wonder Havik hates him.
Yeah I hated it too.
>hated
wtf are you talking about, I think it illustrates the Seido grindset perfectly well. The Order faction in the SMT games is infamous for shit like this.
@@duncananderson2113 really havik hates him 🤔
It's crazy how everyone hates shujinko. The man spent his entire life on a fake quest. Literally from a teenager to an old man. He's a pretty sad character
Not to mention that people blame him for Onaga's return when in fact it was actually Reptile (also Nitara indirectly) who was responsible. Shujinko only provided Onaga with the Kamidogu, had Reptile or anyone else not been possessed by Onaga nothing would happen when Shujinko gathered all the Kamidogu
His quest might have been fueled by the deception of Onaga the dragon king, but if you look at his experience he had an opportunity offered to only a few (but to none of any other MK character’s) and that is to travel, learn and experience all the different realities present on his universe and having all the wisdom regarding those realities exposed to him 🤷
And then in the new timeline of MKX, it's implied he gets murdered in one of the endings by Special Forces.
@@Hei_Darkfire Cassie, but mk 11 said f*ck that
@@Al_musawi14 I don't think MK11 actually forgot that. In a few intros, it's mentioned that Kung Lao is now the one working for "Damashi" who we all know is Onaga. Shujinko is only mentioned once, and that is in an intro with two Lui Kangs.
There's a reason Hotaru was on evils side in Armageddon, dude is the definition of Lawful Evil, he's basically a dictator type dude, all cool if you follow the laws but the second you slip get the shujinko treatment.
Isn't it like in Judge Dred
@@joynelbonet194 yeah there's definitely similarities, and as in both universes crime and conquest are still rampant so maybe they should've try different approaches.
That’s a perfect description actually. Hotaru is basically the order havik. He will stop at nothing for the law, even going as far as letting Onaga win and merge the realms just so he can police everyone in all the realms “more efficiently”.
@@Frosterino you just explained Lawful evil my dude, remember Hotaru allied with Onaga to kill Sub-Zero and others (the good guys) because Onaga represents Order in outworld vs Shao Kahns constant unlawful conquest, and they weren't in Seido when Shujinko was arrested they were still in outworld, if he was neutral then he would've informed Shujinko that there was an established curfew and chewed him out at best with a warning. But instead Shujinko waited for years in a jail cell without even a visit from his so called friend.
Lawful evil? More like Lawful stupid.
Shao Khan: (An honest tyrant.)
Hotaru: (An asshole tyrant.)
Dude sided with Onaga ROFL
Shao Kahn and honest in the same sentence? Hard to believe.
@@Sungura_KaiserModest maybe with the way Shao gives the player a slap on the wrist for decking him in public.
i remember this was a total curveball in the deception konquest story. everything was going reasonably straightforward AND THEN Shujinko got his ass locked up for decades for thinking Hotaru would actually be a better guy than Havik
Personally, I thought it was the laziest writing in the entire franchise.
It's like something you'd expect from the Bureaucrats in futurama. Like, couldn't they have done something like a fight that results in his arrest because assaulted a law officer or whatever?
@@sketchysketchistit was to show how much of a hard ass hotaru is, his character is strictly about order, havik is a nicer guy than hotaru in perspective lmao
@@sketchysketchist It shows how extreme the realm of order is though, breaching a rule that would be small for us, in the realm of order is a big crime, because it’s breaking order lol
@@sketchysketchist >something you'd expect from the Bureaucrats in futurama
That's the joke. It's literally Chinese Imperial bureaucracy taken to an absolute extreme.
It's not lazy at all since the whole point is to show the extreme of orderrealm.
Shujinko: "Ordinance? I just recently arrived, I had no knowledge of any ordinance."
Hotaru: "UNACCEPTABLE! ONE MILLION YEARS DUNGEON!!!"
great, now I cant get the mental picture out of my head of Hotaru being Lemon Grabs
LOL XD
Hotaru: You entered without asking
Shujinko: The door was literally open
Hotaru: You started breaking the curfew
Shujinko: I didn't know of any curfew existing
Hotaru: YOU BETRAYED THE LAAAW
Hotaru: ignorance is no excuse.

@@tintor2 ORDİNANCE ORDER ARREST LAAAWW
i remember as a kid this actually made me kinda sad, he did nothing wrong and got imprisoned for like 20 years. all bc of a curfew lmao
And I love how when he returns to other realms no one else has aged, and side quests like getting a baker some flour are still open. "Thanks for that flour 40 years later, Shujinko. Now I can bake."
If you forget to deliver the flour you will carry it forever because you cant go back the village
@@RikiJasmin Poor Shujinko with out of date flour.
Yeah wtf how this make sense everybody doesn't age but shijinko do ?
Time goes differently in Orderrealm. How different exactly I don't know but one thing's for sure, people there age a lot slower than in every other realm.
The worst part is after all of those years, when your court date arrives, Dairou breaks you out and then Hotaru is all like "You were gonna be found innocent. I was gonna testify in your defense!"
Dude, you made him wait like 20 years so that you could tell a court, "Yeah, he should be acquitted,"? Go to hell Hotaru lol
Shujinko- Bruh!
The worst part for me is that I actually really like Hotaru in both design and gameplay, but his actual character development is shockingly terrible, he’s a stickler for the rules, that’s fine, he’s a commander of the Seiden Guard, alright cool, but then everything outside of that is just.. bad
@@realmjumper8154 yeah Hotaru is the type of guy to shut a party down at 8:00 on the dot so everyone can get at least 8 hours of sleep... Then arrest them for breaking curfew when they leave the party
I felt absolute joy when Hotaru got sliced in half by Kenshi in his ending even though it’s non canon unfortunately but Hotaru dies regardless during Armageddon so he gets what’s coming to him in the end.
Shujinko: So this is why Havik hate this place
And hotaru also had the balls of telling him after his escape eons after his arrest that he was going to speak on his favor
No joke, I literally started playing more with Dairou when he rescued us, Hotaru is a hypocrite
Yep, that was beyond dickerish. Guess who became my favorite pinata in practice mode after this, lol
"Bro, I did it for the time skip lmao."
The way shujinko disobeyed hotaru and fought him battle afterwards! Which shujinko should of did in the first place 20 years ago.. he could of never went back to netherrealm or orderealm afterwards..
I think hotaru simply forgot about him. Remember that orderrealmers are like all other non-earth realms, people there live for thousands of years. 20 years of jail time was probably equivalent to 1 night in seido culture.
And Hotaru had the nerve to lie to Shujinko afterwards talking about he was gonna vouch for him in court. Nah bruh you left him in a cell for years over a curfew. Y'all friendship been over after that.
Yep, I always called him a liar on that one.
You could have not put in jail in the first place. Hotaru is one petty toxic asshole 😂
You know I find this interesting, because shujinko has a good hearth so he never escaped from jail, and also the ammount of years he spent imprisioned shows how failed Seido's legal system is, keeping so many people impresioned resulting in it taking longer than they have to live just to get a trial.
I'm more surprised Damashi/Onaga had the patience to wait for Shujinko to get a trial
@@Hitomora Tfw your evil plan fails because your main agent was arrested for breaking crufew
he has the same naive mindset of a child because he was essentially robbed of it by onaga
@@Hitomora well, time does passes differently in order realm, damashi could just have, dunno, waited in the nexus for a few weeks and bam, my main agent wasted his entire life in a matter of days
Well if you look at it from the Seidan peoples perspective, they age significantly slower than humans, therefore the amount of time Shujinko spent in jail would have felt like no time for them
The worse thing is that he was in prison that long awaiting his trial. So he didn't even get convicted.
Shujinko's story is the reason why I will always root for the character. You can't witness firsthand what this man went through and hate him.
Exactly.
@@TheSn0wFighterbut why did Onaga deceived him that's something in deception that I could understand properly even after I finish the story
@@demochris1786 he deceived shujinko because he wanted to obtain the 5 kamidogus I think, because onaga was dead physically. Before shujinko collected the kamidogus, onaga somehow managed to get resurrected.
You can only imagine how hilariously awkward it must've been for Damashi/Onaga to help Shujinko cope during all those years of imprisonment...
"So... did you bring me any cigarettes?"
I like to imagine Onaga was like "Wait where the hell has Shujinko been I haven't heard from him in ages" then facepalmed and sent Darius to go break him out.
This was one of the most messed up things in Konquest mode. Shujinko told Hotaru about capturing a land in Outworld. Then he comes back Hotaru tells him he's breaking the law that he didn't know about. A warning would have been nice lol.
Yeah, post a sign or something
*messed up
Ignorance is no acception! When traveling anywhere it best to learn the laws and customs.
But then Again Hotaru is an asshole lol
I mean, when shujinko went to the Order Realm, Damashii told to him to not disobey their laws, even tough shujinko ask what laws are, but Damashii refuse to elaborate further
@@nickolasperazzo8254 He did, but the messed up part is that HE WASN’T EVEN IN THE REALM OF ORDER when the “law” was broken. So how would he have reasonably guessed in advance that Hotaru was going to change the laws in Lei Chen to be that extreme? Sure, 11 years passed from Hotaru seizing control and Shujinko being arrested, but there’s still no way in hell he could have known what to expect all that time later.
If it was the Realm of Order, you would expect their trials to be lightning fast
Nah. Too busy arresting people.
They must be consulting with the elder gods
That's why I prefer living in Outworld or even Nerherrealm over Seido
I assume so many people get arrested or convicted due to the strict laws that the courtrooms end up extremely packed, so they have a whole wait list of trials.
Considering a curfew gets you arrested they must have way too many trials!
Imagine Onaga, patiently waiting for his "agent" to complete the quest, then after a while learns that he got arrested and is locked up, so he's like "Goddammit, can this idiot get at least one Kamidogu without getting stuck somewhere? Oh well, shouldn't take long for his release I suppose," then he realizes that Shujinko is in Orderrealm, and is like "Oh for the love of god..." and some time later just sends Dairou to break Shujinko out.
Btw, another bad part is that Shujinko at this moment (before the arrest) was trying to help people in Outworld, and when he was forced to be put in a village there, Kano explicitly told him that if he escapes, they'll kill a civilian, and since Shujinko was arrested by Hotaru not long after running out of there, guess what happened in Outworld in this time period...
😂 damn.
The most tragic part about it is that this is the part he loses his best looking design.
Damn right...
Jesus! This shows that too much order isn't a good thing as well.
On a different note, I think it's a nice detail that while Shujinko spent a very long time in prison, it wasn't that long for people of the Orderrealm. Since they are long-living in a similar manner to Edenians, human decades are probably just a breeze to them, which is why the day of the trial came after so long.
Like Jay Garrick said to Dr. Fate in Injustice, there can't be Order without forgiveness.
Now that I think about it are people from earthrealm the only ones with such a short lifespan?
I believe so. That's why an Edenia girl says "You may be an old man, but Edenia has a greater lifespan than some of the lesser realms, like Earthrealm."
@@HRPNX-vl4uu I never noticed that the order realm had long life spends
I said "Edenia", not "Order Realm".
Shujinko had spent 46 years completing his quest to find the Kamidogu however 20 of those years he was imprisoned for disobeying a curfew he didn't know existed
If you think about it, Orderrealm/Seido is like Mortal Kombat equivalent to North Korea.
In Konquest mode, we learn that Orderrealm is very dedicated to law and order, people there have no freedom (because according to Seidans/Orderrealmers: "freedom leads to anarchy and anarchy leads to sadness"), and people can be put in jail for years with no chance to defend themselves just because of a small infraction/crime. And Hotaru is a dictator personality guy, since he's very Lawfully Evil. That's very similar to North Korea, since people there also have no freedom and they're tied to law and order, and they can be killed/arrested for small insignificant crimes. Orderrealm/Seido is pretty much North Korea turned into a realm.
>fantasy martial arts North Korea with Wakanda-tier tech that allows for literal floating cities
Sign me the fuck up, lol.
I think the chaosrealm are better
north korea is all about kim family having all money n opress with laws to mantain his power

USA meddling in Korea's affairs caused the tension. Korea had already had its revolution in the 1950s and was united as one until the US and Israel illegally invaded Korea and split Kore in Two. US and Israel led NATO is the cause of all troubles in the WORLD. So, which country did North Korea invade?
"Your honor, if my memory is still as good as it once was, I believe that I have only JUST set foot in the Order realm and was not informed by ANYONE of the curfew-"
"IGNORANCE IS NOT AN EXCUSE."
Damn, imagine going through what Shujinko did and staying in prison for many years.
İ cant even imagine it. İts so dumb...
What’s even more dumb why hasn’t he used his powers to break out instead of staying in jail for 20 years like a idiot??? Lol
@@InvestedGman because he accepted his arrest and preferred to be respectful.
@@suijin3129 by wasting his life until old age in a cell for 20 years Even though he was wrongly imprisoned??? Lol again
@@InvestedGman well shit happens.
Keep in mind, Shujinko was a deputized Seidan Guardsman, and with how slow bureaucracy is in the Realm of Order I doubt he was taken off their duty roster. So technically speaking he may have not needed to abide by the ordinance at all as I am pretty sure it's for civilians.
You should have been his lawyer
@@FresnoBoy6star I'd be as old and gray as him by the time it gets to trial, lol
That’s where bad writing comes in lol
True, Hotaru literally declared him a member of the Seidan Guard after training him, because “You must be a member of the guard to participate in an assault. That is our law.” Those were his own words. If he still counted as a Seidan guard in Outworld, and was there as long as Shujinko was away from it, then if Hotaru actually cared that much about the law, he would have remembered that Shujinko had been made a Seidan Guardsman, so the curfew would be NULL AND VOID for him. So Hotaru should have been sued for wrongful arrest, lol. Idiot deserved that beating from old man Shujinko.
Shujinko was right to question their laws. Even Earth doesn't consider that so wrong.
Never realized just how much of a *DOUCHE* Hotaru is until now...
The most ironic part being that, after all those years and being responsible for Shujinko's imprisonment he was apparently going to testify in his favour in court.
At least havik let's you do whatever
@@Flesh_Wizard if it’s in favor of chaos otherwise if you want a peaceful life he’s also a jerk in different ways.

he's a cop (from another dimension,but still a cop)
what did you expect?
Wow... just wow. At least Havik gives you a chance by fighting him to earn your freedom...
Onaga be like: "He got arrested!? WTF?"
Dairou: "I told You 'Naga... Some mothermuckers always be trying to skate uphill..."
This is that Midway Era storytelling. "Oh no, Shujinko was actually crucial to many events throughout Mortal Kombat's history. You just never saw much of him because he was in jail. For decades and decades."
This channel makes me feel so damn validated with the MK3D content. It feels like everyone forgot MKDA, MKD, and MKA existed but we grew up on them lol
Facts
Combine the exploration, huge maps and missions from Deception's Konquest with the combat system and encounters from Armageddon's Konquest and you got a perfect story mode formula. So of course NRS aren't gonna do it.
To be honest with you, the 3d era of MK is the reason why i know a lot about it's history, especially Deception since it's Konquest expand majority it's universe and the idea that the realms exist due to a supreme deity being asleep is bone chilling. That is why i love the original timeline of MK.
Not just arrested, also spent years in a jail he could have escaped from in about two seconds but was too dumb to realize it.
No wonder Onagamashi hired Dairou.
That is exactly, literally what im thinking
the place that dairou appears and kill the guards is not Shujinko's cell, it was a place for him to wait for his trial
I thought Shujinko did know he could escape at any time, but chose to remain and plead his case out of some sense of honesty or somthing.
Imagine being locked up until you get old just cause you decided to go for a walk lol
Hotaru: You betray the law!
Shujinko: LAWWWWWGHH!
Yeah Hotaru needs to get a whuppin' simply for this.
Next time I fight Hotaru in Armageddon I'm definitely ripping his head clean off
This is the part where I felt so bad for Li Mei, she ended up staying enslaved along with her people in the one Outworld village. I really wonder who helped them after Shujinko got locked up for years.
And I really hate Hotaru for killing her in that Armageddon intro too BTW.
It was confirmed in her Deception bio that Bo Rai Cho saved Li Mei before her soul could be transferred into one of Onaga's undead warriors in Deadly Alliance.
@@jordan-the-hound2323 Ah. Right.
You know, if Liu Kang and King Lao were still alive, they, of all other Earthrealmers, would definitely protect Li Mei and her village and make them have a better life. Though I know she cares about Bo Rai Cho a lot since she and her are born in Outworld. But like Bo Rai Cho, I just think Li Mei would enjoy Earthrealm and maybe have some good food for her trouble. As well as her people. Maybe they could have a village just like that.
I shouldn't be surprised that a place called "Orderrealm" has extremly lengthy bureaucracy.
Prison dude:What are you in for?
Shujinko:Loitering
Shujinko literally bears down everyone but let's this guy stand in his way lmao
Shujinko is just: Yeah imma just wait years for and gonna say nothing, i'll have to face Hotaru and *then* gonna resist

I can't believe he waited so many years for this tho 💀
Talk about extreme don’t you think. He got arrested for not knowing about the curfew,so they imprisoned him for a long time until he’s a old man.

Shujinko did nothing wrong.
You'd think after the first year of prison he would have wised up & used those superior abilities/skills to escape. Sounds like he really lucked out by missing the tournament.
If Hotaru somehow makes it into the MK12 roster, I will give him every fatality I learn in the game since I didn't know the codes in Deception.
Plus, we know that Hotaru is working for Onaga so there is a chance.
@@NoelJohnCarloyep.
Hoping he is DLC character, so that Shujinko and Havik have a score to settle with that prick.
I both love and hate this moment, it perfectly shows how severe the Orderrealm’s laws are in a practical way, but from a story standpoint it’s absolutely shit pacing and seems really out of nowhere and stupid, if this had been an “optional” mistake like actually showing up past a set curfew then it would have made more sense, but this moment is both effective in developing orderrealms law systems and ineffective and stupid in terms of ageing Shujinko to his final form
Sidenote: in case you were wondering about what they could do to progress the story if you showed up within the curfew, make Shujinko break another law, maybe he attempts to leave without addressing Hotaru properly and Hotaru as a commander takes offence to it or some shite, just SOMETHING that isn’t this out of nowhere
That's why I prefer Havik over Hotaru, and another thing that I find very strange, in the cutscene where we're going to start the fight with Hotaru, he says he would testify in our favor(???) it's not like it wasn't because of HIM that Shujinko spent YEARS incarcerated(Sorry for the bad english)

Most bullshit moment of this entire game. 20 years of his life wasted
Sometimes the story writing's genius is .... Almost frightening
Once Chaosrealm and Seido got involved, it was a losing battle. I actually predicted Hotaru would pull something like this when he basically said, "Yeah, I'm taking over this city because it's better under Seido law," instead of putting some Seido guards in a garrison nearby. When factions outright take over settlements to "protect" them, they're no better than gangs. Shao Kahn, evil blackguard he is, would've at least, in my opinion, respected the town if they had powerful fighters. At least with Shao Kahn, you know what you're getting. Seido would've had a law outlawing martial arts unless you're a part of the Seido army.
TAVEN would have known about the curfew
STOP! You've violated the law!
