I could almost see one of these going up on the beach over wicked twister was. They seem like they use small footprints and that area of the park could easily put up a compact coaster that goes over the beach or that back midway. Honestly I’d love it if cedar point put in a huge pier out over the lake there and put one of these bad boys (with 15+ inversions) at the end. There’s more land to build on at cedar point than people think. With compact coasters recent popularity and better technology I could see some compact coasters going in several places in the park. I hate to imagine what coaster or coasters are going to be next on the chopping block there. I honestly think we could see both iron dragon and rugorou shut down in the near future (attendance isn’t great for either but rugorou especially). Top thrill is another serious candidate for removal (with the recent accident and normal maintenance issues) and could provide plenty of space for another record breaker. First things first though is to just work that beachfront area where wicked twister was

My hunch is Silver Dollar City. Apparently there is already some clearing going on. And it will have been 4 years since Time Traveler, which is a reasonable distance given the 5 years between Outlaw Run and Time Traveler. Also, I could be wrong, but I remember hearing or reading somewhere that Cedar Fair does not have any large capital investments planned in the near future due to COVID struggles.

Ik this is kinda weird, but what about cga? They are very limited in space just like cp making the terrain challenging I guess? Also they don’t have a multilooper with more than 4 inversions or anything super tall if they went with somethin’ more Karnan style

Cedar Point stated they will be celebrating their 150th anniversary this season so it makes sense. Cedar Point is due for their next coaster. They haven't even gotten a true ground up coaster. Their last coaster was Steel Veangence which was only a conversion.

Let’s also mention that in Cedar Point’s Christmas video, they said they had a project for 2022. Plus, in the Winter Chillout, they had closed warehouse doors that said things like “2022” and “Keep Out”

    • @ThomasVanHorn

The gerst is most likely not going to Cedar Point, Cedar Fair has stated that they're holding back on large capital projects, and plus why would they build a new giant Gerstlauer at Cedar Point yet not even start construction on the free spin that they've had sitting in the parking lot at KD for almost a year now

    • @techpappee

@@ThomasVanHorn No they didn't. Please quote where Cedar Fair said "they're holding back on large captial projects". CP *is* their $$$$ maker.
Go watch just about *any* winter chillout (2020) video where CP *themselves* tease a upcoming project in 2022! BTW, there were markers around the Antique cars during said event.
CP does most of their new attraction installations over the winter once closed. Steel Vengeance no because it was a remodel of a current attraction. Gate Keeper - yes, Millennium Force - yes Valraven - yes, Top Thrill - yes etc.
Imascore, the company that creates custom soundtracks for Gerstlauer also announced a new 'score for Cedar Point 🤔'...
      "MARCH 2021
      First project with Cedar Point
As announced in our latest IMAdiary, we’re proud to work with Cedar Point for the very first time. The park has been voted “Best Amusement Park in North America” in USA TODAY’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards."
Of course with all that it's still possible it's not going to the Point. There are more signs it is than it's not IMO.

I really hope that if cedar point break the inversion record they won’t just place it down and have no theming, the smiler theming is arguably one of the things that makes it so famous among enthusiasts so I’d hope cedar point would add at least some sort of theming if they break this record

Concrete falling. I agree it’ll be closed permanently, though I think it’ll be SNO for a while. Can’t envision them paying the $$$ to refurb, but won’t completely tear out due to cost (even though it takes up a sweet plot of real estate). I think Eagle will get some much needed love before anything is done with the Rapids ride. Would prefer a retrack vs RMC treatment, or better yet, a removal for a B&M Out and Back.(extreme wishful thinking, in light of the 200 ft height restriction)

I agree that CP is the most likely candidate. I just hope that they are going to build something special. Truly record breaking then I will be excited. If it is the most inversions on a blue coaster in the upper west of US then I would get disappointed.

  • @techpappee
    @techpappee 3 года назад +1

I believe CP. It could break the inversion record, either in the US or the world. Possibly the tallest, drop, speed, launches etc. There are several records they could go for. My $ is on inversions.
I also believe it will run with either 3 or 4 trains for 24/36 riders per cycle. Many aren't aware the Infinity model can use 1, 2, 3 or 4 trains at once. It doesn't change the elements because each train moves independent of the other 🧐 It's up to the park and what they desire.
One more signs it is in fact Cedar Point, Imascore! Imascore works with Gerstlauer 😉

@@Brisss8 nice. I’ve been on the first two iterations of Lightning Rod (2016 when the launch was full blast, the 2017,2018,2019 for the retrack. Gotta get down there this summer for the new track they installed this offseason, hopefully they fixed that bottom out after the lift hill, that had been a problem since day one)
Their policy last year was mask EVERYWHERE, only off while dining. Which can be burdensome when walking those paths from front to back of park, especially during humid TN summers. I don’t mind wearing one indoors, I don’t mind social distancing in queues, but on ride it’s an annoyance.

Im going to say Kings Island first as it desperately needs something record breaking especially after Orion. Orion didn't give them the chance to reveal it as something special last year so Im assuming this might be something to attract the people with the new resort as well. Secondly Dollywood or Silver Dollar City since they said it would be challenging to make and their coaster lineup is pretty weak. 3rd Cedar point since they are limited on land. All in all i believe Kings Island needs a record breaking roller coaster. Last one was Banshee and Son of Beast i believe

Olympus where Dive to Atlantis stood, Elitch Gardens where the Flying Coaster stood, SeaWorld San Antonio where the Texas Splashdowb stood, Busch Gardens where Drachan Fire stoodand basically anywhere in Six Flags America, Magic Springs, Silverwood, Michigan's Adventure or Wild Adventures where there's room.
