I think minimalism is mainly prominent in America because I'm from the Caribbean (Antigua) and we still have colourful houses and house-phones/ landlines. I grew up travelling to America often, but now that I'm older (17) I notice how bland and sad it looks compared to the perception I had of it when I was younger. Also, I notice how fast-paced it is and people who are my age are just so different. I feel childish sometimes when I see how normal it is for American teens to own cars and homes, and how attached they are to their phones. It's like a completely different world.
