when comparing my real JVM to helix marshall, that the poweramp on the helix is compressing too much to soon. Lowering the master @4 get rid of that. Also, when I matched my amp, I used Ozone 5 in matcheq, playing open chord on my marshall and helix and matched from their to see eq curve. I compensate with eq after the amp block. That's sound quite indistinguishible this way
Nice one! Adjusting the master volume can greatly impact the headroom of an amp in the Helix. This was more of a quick, out of the box comparison between the two units. Thanks for watching!
Yeah: why for me playing live and recording are SO different and require different approaches. Most mixing of heavy saturation in a band setup is dialing back the EQ resonances that sound so good when solo'd on the desk or in a live room. Production is the art of reduction. If a box/plugin can do that it saves alot of work and as you say - our ears - all about context - the captorx is a great piece of kit if you already have a good amp head
That's why I like the Stomp so much. The Marshall sounds amazing and raw, but has to be contained a lot more to fit in the context of a modern song I've found - in both live and recording scenarios. Can be a good or a bad thing depending on what's needed! The Stomp can sound great right out of the box with some high and low pass filters too 🤘 If I had filtered these guitars a little bit, I think the difference would have been even more negligible. Cheers for watching and your comment! 🤘
I don't have the Captor anymore to do a fair comparison, but I agree the Way Huge in front of the HX would have made a difference! I also wanted to compare an all HX setup to an analogue setup.
Really helpful, Thanks sean :D I really want to see you use your hx preset with Settle Down ( the 1975 ) for guitar production tutorial. It’s nice to learn with this song :)
@@seanmurrayguitar hey man! Got them; they’re killer! Also bought your presets and I’m really digging them, especially the blend drive works wonderfully with my tele. Thanks a lot!
Cheers for watching Joao. I think in this particular test, I agree. I didn't mention it in the video, but I think a lot of it came down to the Green Rhino leaving a lot more of the clean signal through than the Scream 808 on the stomp, making the HX more saturated. 2 slightly different TS pedal variants, and only splitting hairs! Both incredible sounds! 🤘🤘
After further testing, I think the Green Rhino had a lot to play! It definitely leaves a lot more of the clean signal through to my ears which helps with the clarity and pick attack. Thanks for watching! 🤘
Great video man, been having a look at the HX Stomp and it looks like a really awesome piece of kit!
Cheers Jay! The HX Stomp is great! More Helix videos to come 🤘
i love your channel thanks for keeping the quality work
Cheers for watching! Appreciate it! 🤘🤘

Excellent video. Really did the comparison well. Really informative fair play.
Cheers! Thanks for watching 🤘🤘
As an owner of the Helix, it's the single best gear purchase I've ever made. Great vid. Super sterile shootout.
Such a great piece of gear! Cheers for watching 🤘🤘
Agreed. I am so impressed with how close the Helix comes to the amps and effects they imitate. I love my Helix floor.
I tried one in a music store and immediately sold my JTM-45 Reissue.
Awesome video, mate! 👌🏻
Cheers for watching mate!
Awesome Job Brit Plexi / Helix...Cheers Buddy....Jono
Cheers for watching Jono 🤘🤘
Are there any high and low cuts in the IR block?
Very cool. Thanks!
Cheers for watching! 🤘
IR Settings???
Can you do another comparison with the way huge I front of the hx please ? It would a closer comparison.

Damn they do sound very similar. The Marshall does sound more alive and in your face.
It’s subtle! Thanks for watching!

Cheers! Great tune! Great guitar work on those first two albums 🤘
Great content
Cheers Hernan!🤘
Hey man, insane sound! If I may ask, which York IR are you using? Keep up the good work!
Cheers man! Using the MRSH 4x12 M25 Pack. Used one of the pre mixes (number 4) for this video!

Close, the Marshall as a bit of more “clarity”. But it’s close.

*orders a HX stomp 😂
Probably one of the biggest no brainer purchases at the moment!
The real Marshall has more attack i feel

There is no such thing of a 1972 Plexi.
Exactly, so tired of people calling any metal face amp with 4 inputs a plexi, even if its a JCM800 4 input from the 80's, Ridiculous .
