I love mine! I swear it’s smoother than the powered one TrackIR ships as their upgrade.

I'm glad you got one, I was one of the few who recommended it to you because I had the same impressions you did back when I got mine :)

    Really good and thorough review!
I have been using these for almost a couple years now, coming from a Track Clip Pro, for DCS and Star Citizen. I am in that group of people that wants to be able to get up and grab a beverage from the fridge or take a piss without taking the headset off, so that's the perspective I'm coming from. I had previously acquired a couple 3xAAA boxes with on/off switches, cut and soldered a couple wires, and made a quick connect to the power to the track clip pro LEDs, but the tack clip's mounting clip was still limited as to where/what you could mount them to, and there was more than once I forgot to turn them off for a long while. So I saw these on the DCS forums and grabbed them when they were available. Haven't looked back.
One "issue" I had was with charging, which was just a me problem. Couldn't get it to charge one day, so I contacted support via the website's chat, and they were on top of it in no time (I was pretty shocked at how quickly they replied). Turns out the USB CC cable or brick wasn't compatible (30W Sony charger). I have since had luck using AC cables via PC or wall wart (through powered USB3 switch as well). I haven't had success using the CC options available via wall wart or PC. YMMV.

I got this track clip replacement and loved it so much I bought a second for insurance (which i dont need because its so robust). It's 3rd party one, but it was like 30-40 bucks and is way better than the 55 dollar garbage trackir sells. Anyway, super enjoy it and if you need a replacement avoid the official one.

Brightness seems quite a plus. I gave up on TrackIR because of the issues with spurious IR sources, and bought a Tobii 5. It works OK, but not as well as TrackIR, considerably harder to tune and game/sim support is spotty. May give the TrackStar a try.

I find that just placing the (passive) vector clip on the top-centre my headset (I use three small neodynium magnets and double sided tape for easy removal) and placing the camera on the top-centre of my monitor works just as well as using a track clip pro. Cheaper, lighter and less hassle.

100% of the TrackIR powered units are held together with some combination of tape, glue, and rubber bands.

This is huuuge! Have 2 different Track IR Pros, one is a knock-off from Amazon, the camera actually looks cooler than the real North Point version. By the way, I got confirmation from North Point that the one I got from Amazon was a fake and when I put this in my review, Amazon blocked it...they literally encourage knock-off products. Both of the Track IR 5 clip pros work ok, but they are a fine example of how you can use the cheapest parts and plastic in existence and charge a premium to maximize profits.
This looks like a big improvement but I wish there was one designed to mount on the top of the head and is symmetrical in design, kinda like the energizer ones for a hat. I get that it needs 3 points but HATE the asymmetrical designs we have. We need an option that uses AAA or AA batteries.

i used the Delanclip for a few Years now. Works the Same. Only Minus is the USB -Micro Connector for charging. Installing is easy but no Velcro or Clip. It use self adhesive Velcro Fastener. It is a 3D Printed Device. I never liked the wired Trackclip Pro.Why buying a Sennheiser GSP670 Wireless Headset if you had to use a wired Connection for the Tracker?

lol....i build myself one. Using 3 IR-LED, a AA-Battery-Holder for a single Cell, a powermanagement-IC which is used in simple Solar-Gardenlights, and three pieces of Perf-Board to solder all together..

8-10 hours for 3 IR LEDs seems a bit low considering it is really just 3 little lights.
