Another insrumental that for some unknown reason that seldom gets reviewed is "Without Holding Back" the're is lots of good drumming on it. Also I would add the Giovanni instrumental to the list as well it blows my mind every time I listen to it, it just shows off just how good the Maids are.
What I like most about their instrumentals is their songwriting. It’s not a rhythm section backing track for a lead guitarist to show off. It’s a musical composition with a balanced attack. My favorite parts are, oddly enough, the rests. The dropkick in the opening. The two strategic rests before Kanami launches into the next section. Goosebumps.
@@jkkansasband7056 No she can't. I was looking forward to tennis this year but Kanami said when she thinks she'll have some spare time to fly over, management keep booking more tour dates. If they booked a couple of dates in London then we could fit both in. We're resigned to playing on-line chess for the rest of this year.😔
They certainly do this live. And it does give Saiki, the lead singer, a break. They also do some songs with Miku (rhythm guitarist and second vocalist) as the lead singer, sometimes supported by Kanami, the lead guitarist.
She's my favourite drummer. Thank you for reacting and sharing this band. 1. Her drum fills are always on point. She understands the song structure perfectly and emphasises the song so well. I don't like the metal drummers who kick the double bass for the whole song (I get bored). 2. She plays the most complex drum patterns and executes them with an incredible amount of memory.
Many of us saw Band-Maid play “From Now On” live. OMNG! Kanami riffed her ass off. The DB’s matched the BPM’s! So FROM NOW ON, Band-Maid will grow in popularity even faster as their awesome, sold out 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR wrapped up at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26 and at Hong Kong. AND they’re writing and recording for their new album! The Maids are one of the hardest working supergroups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids... and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE! Thx, Matt!
A Rock instrumental with power, energy and finesse. Who can suggest this as anything but Awesome? Akane and MISA are masters of interpreting what Kanami has composed. Here's another Awesome Live instrumental: ONSET-LIVE. Which was my favorite way back when. More Awesomeness straight ahead. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Peace. 9.77
Yeah, they played this when I saw them last year in Atlanta. Pretty much mid-set. But occasionally, like at Lollapalooza, they will open a festival show with it, when they're in front of a mostly unknown audience.
Other instrumentals - 'Onset' live is also phenomenal. They have also done some white room videos of some songs without the vocals, Giovanni is particularly fantastic. Also the scorebook for 'Unseen World' came with a CD of all the songs without the vocals.
I, to this day, cannot understand how Miku can jump with both feet in those high heels and always "stick the landing", but is often a klutz who falls into ditches, or off a riser, or even off a stage.
Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this song performed live four times with this MV quality in Japan and dropped my jaw four times 😲. I believe so did many of American audience in their three US tours in 2022 & 2023. This song has been normally played in the middle of the setlist to give Saiki, lead vocalist, some break. They played this song, however, as opening at festivals and in Guns N' Roses concert in Japan as support to the legendary band. Yeah! they showed off their skills and talents to the audience who knew nothing about the girls in maid outfit on the stage. I felt as if I heard them screaming "Hey guys! Listen to us and open your eyes wide! We are not the persons that you think ! Salute us!" 😄 By the way, do you know there was a special concert by Band-Maid & The Warning on June 12 in Tokyo? I went to see it. What a bliss! It looked to me Paulina and Akane literally and happily competed to see which drummer can break their bass drum first in the joint finale 🤣.
@@teckreactions Yeah! The Warning, the opener, performed so powerful that the Maids were fired up to start their turn as a hostess band. I believe it was 150% energetic throughout their performance. Saiki's voice became slightly hoarse in the last several songs.💛
So far, they have four officially released purely instrumental songs that are widely available:"Onset," which has an official live video, "Don't Be Long," audio track only, part of the "Different" single "Without Holding Back," audio track is part of the LP Unseen World, but is not included in the streaming release (there's also an MV released only as part of a bonus Blu-ray/DVD) "From now on," this one. "Go Easy," not yet released, but presumably set for release on their upcoming album. It has been played live in Japan. Additionally, there is an officially released instrumental version of "Yolo" which is a B-side track from the Yolo single, and there are instrumental versions of most of the Unseen World LP released as a bonus disk as part of the Unseen World score book. There are also a few more or less unreleased instrumental tracks ("Go Nuts," used in a radio program, "Want More," a demo that was reworked into "Without Holding Back," "Hard Wash," a short instrumental piece used on a PSA featuring Miku demonstrating proper hand washing technique, and various concert intro pieces over the years. Finally, the song "Play" was apparently intended to be an instrumental but lead vocalist Saiki requested for lyrics to be added by Miku. Most Band-Maid songs work well as instrumentals, as they are composed music first, with the lyrics added late in the process.
They do play this live, sometimes as the opener, and it's definitely a challenge to pull off, especially for Kanami. I would say she screws up on this song probably more than on any other song... there's just so many opportunities for mistakes. Like Eddie Van Halen, she's really hard on herself and her performances and when she screws up, she gets really angry at herself. But then she buckles down and kicks ass on the next song like a true virtuoso. I like this about the band... they tend to be really tight in concert, but their pieces push them to the edge of their limits and you can sense that as they play. A lot of their smiles is them being elated that they're pulling off some really difficult music as well as they do.
Would you say this song is hardest to play for Kanami and black hole is the hardest to play as a group? Because Ik black hole is one of their most complex pieces
While "From Now On" is a serious hard rock instrumental shredfest, I have another Band-Maid instrumental you should react to.. The instrumental is titled "Onset" and yes it's designed to give Saiki, their lead vocalist a break. I would describe "Onset" as a "joyful noise". It's a high energy yet melodious song that shows Kanami's guitar will literally sing to you. The official live video allows all the musicians to get involved and their enjoyment is apparent in the video.
Kanami is a rock goddess in sensible shoes. ❤
At least saiki made her get a new pair. I think she still had ones she wore in high-school. They were standard school shoes 😂
🤣
Kanami is world class !!!!!!!
She is the best!!!
Pretty great!
In the UN you have translators in BAND-MAID you have Kanami.
Ha!

My personal fave of their instrumentals. The live they did during the covid show was ridiculously impressive.
Underrated.
Awesome!
Totally agree, Without Holding Back is a classic as far as I am concerned
