This drive begins in Colorado Springs, and ends in Victor. You could take the long way around on paved roads, but instead, this video follows Gold Camp Road: a well-maintained dirt road that cuts south of Pike's Peak, following an old railroad grade.

Last time I drove this was in '93 when I got out of the service. Good memories!

My husband and I just made this drive after snowy and icy week. Frightening as hell for me!

I hate to be a stickler, but you were on Old Stage Rd. Gold Camp is in another part of the Springs.
Thank you for posting this! Old Stage was like my playground as a young adult.

@plur doc Most of that is Gold Camp road, old stage ends at that overlook at 10:19. This is where old stage meets up with and becomes gold camp road. This is also where the drivable part of Gold camp meets the undrivable section because of a few collapsed tunnels, there is another part of Gold Camp that is also accessible by cars and is linked to this section by a trail along the old road and around the collapsed tunnels where needed.

The Victor side to the tunnel is our usual fall leaf route. So many aspens in wide open fields

I ran this road with friends usually once a week unless we went camping down in Cañon City or rode Old Stage Road. Those were pretty good times to look back on. Thanks for the video

My neighbor in the apt next to me living in the springs took me all the way through that road from one end to the other in his 4 wheel pickup, but we came at it from the other end off I25. I still have some great pictures I took with along zoom camera I had back then. It was a great trip. The Hotel Broadmoor and the city was always on the left side on the trip. The road gets washed out a sometimes and damaged in Winter so try and make sure the road is open before traveling it.

I just drove up this road last week while visiting CS. I didn’t make it all the way up because the road was too icy but it was so beautiful! Wanted to see what was at the end!

I did the road in '89 when I lived there. I remember the town of Clyde was just a horse corral.

My first trip was c. 1965 before Victor/Cripple Creek became tourists traps, they were mostly ghost towns. Went back in the early 70s. Not back since then. The old DRG RR ties were still there and a bumpy ride. But fun. Lived in CS from 1964-67. Loved the town then. The road seems wider and better now than then.

Enjoying your time lapse trips - thanks for sharing!
BIG suggestion: Could you put in the notes or on-screen date the actual drive time - or what the time lapse speed is?

Wow, what a cool road. The way the leaves were starting to change, how it was only a splattering, looked really cool. Some of those bits of road though! There was like sheer Drop on the side.. lol :)

My dad used to take me here because of some stupid urban legend that pne of the tunnels callapsed on a bus full of kids and the kids haunt that tunnel. And if you drive through youll see hamd prints on your windshield.
