The reason for applying Vaseline to the oil pump gears is not only for lubrication on the first start, if that were the case you would use assembly lube. The main idea behind it is to create a seal so that the pump doesn't pump air for too long. It creates a vacuum in the oil pick up by sealing the sides of the gears to the side of the housing. You can also pre-prime the galleries in the block, but that's not really necessary for a non high performance build with ultra tight tolerances. when i saw tuffmounts selling barra to commodore kits my first thought was a barra VP now im actually thinking about an n/a barra in a commodore as a budget drifter instead of intech powered EF, maybe i will just build this intech put in a commodore one day
Hope you're planning on upgrading the front end- those commodores aren't designed for an inline 6's weight distribution. Could be awhile getting it to corner fast again. Somebody raced a commodore with a 265 Hemi and it wasnt the best of both worlds, it was just disappointing.
I cant get over you went that far pulling the engine down and didnt check the bearings or ring gaps . Bearings are cheap and so is a grind . Ring gaps limit your boost now for reliability . The pulsar 3584rs is not a small turbo frame . Im bulding the same thing but into an awd territory mmm 20psi here i come . Zf 6speeds crying i can hear it now . Lol anyway that vn would be fun with 500bhp let alone all the beens the 3584rs can give before something says no more in the powertrain .
