They had a younger brother who was also a singer who died when he was only 30 yrs old of a drug overdose. The 2 other brothers of the trio were twins and both died of medical issues.

HBO just recently put out their documentary called "Bee Gees: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart." Their music is literally everywhere...commercials, movies, tons of groups do covers of their songs. They consider themselves R&B soul. Oh...and btw, Michael Jackson is Barry's good friend. His son, Michael Gibb, is MJ's Godson.

Out of the 5 Gibb children the 4 boys ended up in the music world; the first three as song writers & the youngest later on as solo artist. The Gibb Men grew up very poor, & decided young to try their bit in singing as a way to get out of their criminal behavior. They started at ages 9 & 6 in England performing in underaged clubs. They are Barry & fraternal twins Rob (Robin) & Mo (Maurice: i.e. Morris), later came Andy. Daddy Hughie & Mum Barb(Barbara) were also musically inclined, but not to the extent of the boys. The boys ended up supporting the entire family through their talent. In endless trials & triumph, reinvention & recovery, the Gibb Men endured & kept pushing through adversity. They have produced endless decades of songs for themselves & other Artists, too many to name. Never have I ever acquainted myself with a more robust & inspirational family; they are each individually God given talented, & self taught, never having a musical lesson to play instruments or read music. It's phenomenal a trio in their caliber could harmonize as instinctively as they did. Unfortunately tabloids & media rags were not good to my boys & radio stations in the U.S. later on in their careers started banning their music. Man, I am grateful they never gave up & endured until the end. Sadly, my Darling Andy, Precious Mo, & Hilarious Rob past away, leaving Eldest Brother, Barry Bear & Eldest & only Sister, Sweet Lesley to carry on; which btw 3 months ago the Gibb Family was dealt the sudden loss of Lesley's daughter Beri(Bernice), only 56, whom was extremely close with my Darling Andy; they were more like Brother & Sister. It's another cross for the family to process through. Amazingly these men never forgot where they came from, & the fame & money didn't change their humble & generous hearts. I am bias of course, but you will never find another group of men as Heavenly & Soulfully talented as my Gibb Brothers. Thank you for your reaction. they are simply the best...everything they wrote or sung was pure gold. not many entertainers on their level. Heavenly! They sing with those voices, no autotune. Most singers are 7 day old hot garbage compared to the Brothers Gibb.

They have been recording for 50 years, so there is a lot to choose from. They wrote a lot of songs for other artists as well as many of their songs have been covered by other artists. They have written over 1000 songs. Check out the duet Barry did with Barbara Streisand ; Guilty and what kind of fool…The. BEE Gees wrote all the songs for the album, Barry sang duets with her on the previously mentioned songs and Barry produced it as well. Sadly Barry ( the oldest brother) is the only one left alive.

They are prolific song writers, perform their own songs and have written for various other artists. Barry the one in the middle says he likes love songs. He is also a country music fan . They also were influenced by the Philly R & B sounds of the Delphonics, Spinners, etc.
Sadly only Barry, the oldest is the only one left of all his brothers. He does have an older sister who lives in Australia ( if she is still living, not sure). Barry will be 75 on September 1st this year. Him snd his wife will have been married 51 years the same day. He has 5 kids and last I heard 8 grandchildren. They have written over 1000 songs over their career. Barry just released a new album in January and a few years back one called “In the now”. He still hadn’t lost his writing or singing skills. However, can’t get too high these days with the falsetto.
