I thought the Rega was surprisingly good. “Surprisingly” because I think of them as turntable specialists. It’s the one I would most like choose out of that group (for the sound) . It had a lucious base and smooth yet detailed highs.
For vocals definitely Rega, Atoll goes deepest and I think it delivers the most impact. Also definitely can feel what you mention in the review that sound is closer to the ground.
For the price, it's hard to beat the cost benefit of the Audiolab 6000A. Rega Brio is also great value for money. Softer, more relaxed and peaceful sound. With zero fatigue. As the Audiolab 6000A has very natural tones. Both are very musical. Arcam SA10 tones are more artificial, metallic and digital.
All of the comments are so interesting! I’ll go back and read them all, but as for my vote… a tie between the Nuprime Ida & the Roksan Attessa! The width & clarity were unmatched. The female vocals were vivid and so full of life! The lower end punch was also nice. So sad to hear the Brio, which was a one of the worse; narrow, lifeless… very disappointed, as I wanted to see it do well. I also wanted the Cyress & the Audiolab to excel, but sadly, neither impressed. In fact, all of the 5 amps beginning with the Brio, all the way to the last amp, the Arcam all sounded the same. I’d give 3rd place to the Atoll. Thanks bro!
With everyone voting for different amps as their favourite, it's obvious they are all very good amps, its all personal preference, more or less base, slight forward or layed back vocals etc, a good test but it was very close,
Very interesting … I need to re-watch your review of each amp. I don’t know what it is, but the REGA Brio has a ton clarity and is super punchy, followed closely by the Atoll IN100. The Audio lab, Nuprime, and Cyrus are all very good. The Roksan was okay. The Arcam was so, so, and leak when compared against the bunch is quite boring and flat. #1, 2 = Rega, and Atoll. #3, 4, 5= Audiolab, Nuprime, and Cyrus. #5 = Roksan. #6, 7= Arcam, and Leak. Brian
The third tune is great to use. It's a tad sibilant and forward vocals, that could go south real fast if whatever you're testing pronounces those attributes. Thank you for trying to help us in this wonderful hobby.
The Atoll was always doing the intro so difficult to judge but it gave a good impression. The Rega stood out, seemed most transparent, nice bass, presence in the mids and some air in the treble. I'm surprised the audiolab is so well received in the comments, it seemed to have problems keeping up with the dynamic parts when I'm listening.
I'm a little bias as I already own the Atoll IN100SE, there's more space and depth with the Atolls. Strange, the Atolls get the least playing time and always the intro, rather than the main body of the songs!
Sent 2 sa20s back for transformer hum from unit only. Dc blocker didn’t work also tried at different address and still hummed from 12 feet away . Shame as sounded great
@ALPHA AUDIO, thank you dearly for such a thorough and competent test! (1) Which of these amplifiers do you personally prefer, regardsless of my next sentence? (2) I am considering the NuPrime IDA-8 which I can get used for around 550 Euro, four years old so well-broken in. Do you think that this a reasonable deal? I do not know about potential reliability issues with this brand. The one I am looking at is far out of warranty so I need to be careful if there are known reliability issues with NuPrime as a brand or the IDA-8 as a model (I believe it must be sent to China and can't get the original packaging so they might reject it for potential repair for that reason). Would you know this? (3) Will you publish reviews of these and compare them and finally, declare your winner? Thanks in advance, and most of all for the excellent content. Kind regards, Casper
@@TheAlphaAudio thank you so much! Should I take that as in the Cyrus and NuPrime were your favourites of the bunch? And did you manage to hear the NuPrime fully broken in? How about reliability I wonder
Roksan Attessa seems containing OpAmps. So neutral and colorless sound it has. Boring ) Leak Stereo 130, Nuprime IDA-8 and Audiolab 6000A sound interesting. Cyrus ONE HD is good. Atoll, Arcam and Rega ... just ok.
Every amplifier contains operational amps. They can be discrete or they can be in a chip, but without op-amps no amplifier can function. So I don't exactly understand what you mean here. All amplifiers you have heard in this video contain op-amps in one or another form.
@@andymill8552 You are right. Just wanted to add that some amplifiers can use NE5554 like PSAudio, but other can use MUSES03/05 (or even Sparkos, Burson). Discrete "op amps" can give some color, different output stages (different bias for instance) can also sound differently. What I heard in Roksan was a surgery room.
They’re all the same. All DACs sound the same and apparently all amps sound the same too. Seems the only thing that doesn’t sound the same in Hifi is different speakers.
Atoll IN100 is the best in this test !!!

This channel has the best demos on RUclips!
Thanks man. We work hard on that. So this means a lot.
Thanks for doing this. Hard to tell for sure but I think my favorite sound signature is the Atoll. Honorable mentions are the Rega, Cyrus and Arcam.
i think exactly the same

I thought that they were all excellent!👍👍👍👍👍
Atoll is mindblowing.
Cyrus one HD for me. And thanks Alpha audio
Welcome!
I preferred the sound of the Rega Brio... mainly because I have one.

Although the Roxsan is not as dynamic as some of the rest its sounds silky-smooth
Awesome comparison. Which DAC was used?
Metrum Acoustics
Love my Arcam SA10,. Good luck with the Audiolab with it's 2 year warranty... Arcam has a 5 year warranty.

I liked both the Cyrus and the Nuprime very much. 550€ is a great deal!

For me, the Atoll has the best sound, suits my taste. I had Rega Brio and Aduiolab 6000A, but I am not satisfied.
Leak, then NuPrime
For me 1. Rega, 2. Nu Prime, joint 3rd Arcam SA10 and Atoll. Cyrus -better than expected, Audiolab sounded thin, leak and Atessa sounded the worst.
I Preferred the Rega Brio, then Atoll, but the Rega has pixie dust going on. The Nuprime I hated. Too sharp not enough low end power.
1) Atoll , 2) Audiolab, 3) Arcam
Roksan Atessa, Cyrus, atoll... Et audio Lab
Audiolab 6000A.
Atoll - leak - audiolab
Rega Brio was the clear winner here with the Audiolab 6000A a close 2nd
Hey, how does the Roksan perform at low volumes?
Depends on the speaker.
Atoll has best sound balance....rega and atoll are uneven and muddling up things
They all sound the same.
The biggest difference between them all are the prices.
I wanted to like the Attessa.... I really did. But I just didn't. It sounds so dull to my ears. The Audiolab sounds really special.
REGA brio
And this reference system is exactly ...?and where do we find its performance recorded ? :)
You can find a video about the new system on our channel. We wil sample it soon.
