Stan and Ollie are favorites of mine. A Perfect Day was a great short film. Thanks again for posting early film nostalgia! Did you know that Charles "Buddy" Rogers; Mary Pickford's 3rd husband, actor, and bandleader, played an uncredited part as the pastor who walks by the house at the end of the film?

Actually, the pastor was played by Charley Rogers, a different actor, writer and comic (1887-1956). When Rogers comes down the street, listen careful and you can hear Edgar Kennedy go, "Oh, s**t!" as he sees him coming.

That is one adorable house love the current color a lot better . The story was great would never believe the house was built in 1929 if I didn't know the story. You never know when you're walking or someone else you would never think about twice has walked before you.
is the colorization of the house historically accurate?
Woo hoo the Perfect Day house on Vera Avenue. We visited all the way from UK to see that and it’s amazing how it has hardly changed a bit. We even saw a hosepipe hanging off the porch next door. I wonder if it was the same one the neighbour had?

Very nice video showing the location of Laurel & Hardy’s classic comedy short “A Perfect Day”. Edger Kennedy is the scowling man in the back seat, his foot all bandaged up fro presumably the gout. Many of the L&H shorts from this era were photographed by George Stevens who later became an Oscar winning director.
Awesome once again!! It makes me wonder if the home owners know that history.
They would know when they asked the price. At the time of filming, the house belonged to actor Baldwin Cooke.

Just a technicality but the clips you are showing of the house are colorized by computer decades later. The original film was in black and white. The colorization process can choose any color, that doesn't mean the house was actually a brown tone in 1929. How do you know the original color of the house was a brown tone?
The only L & H film with an audible 4-letter word. When Edgar Kennedy struggles out of the car to avoid the vicar, his frustration with the heavy dressing causes him to utter "oh sh*t", generally regarded as the first instance of swearing in the movies.
