The director said that while he prefers pen and paper mode for entrance exams, but also cautioned that they are not scalable for a country like India where millions take such exams every year. He also talks about the abiotic and upward trend in students opting for core engineering courses, and speaks about the process made at its first offshore campus in Zanzibar. Kamakoti said that the institute has put in a lot of effort to ensure mental well being of the students at the campus and prevent suicide cases among them. He also talked about the emerging trend among IIT students to join civil services, and termed it encouraging. He talked about the importance of sustainability.

It's already happening my friend. People don't go to a HTML, React coder to build a website's frontend anymore. What do you think people use Webflow, Wix and Squarespace for? Yes there're of course limitations, but the ball has started rolling. 5-10 years back, you'd find so many website development agencies, all have disappeared in the last 2-3 years, because no one needs them anymore.

Prof V Kamakoti is a brilliant but humble and unassuming soul. He made a brief reference to Neti Neti (नेति नेति), which most viewers would have missed. It is Sanskrit for "neither this, nor that". In the Upanishads it helps a person to understand the nature of Brahman, i.e., supreme being - Godhead, by negating everything that is not Brahman. He slipped that in so innocently, into the conversation!!

Much of the 'Cream' of an IIT batch ends up in Foreign Banks - creating models so that Banks could earn more OR in Silicon Valley companies creating codes to help those companies show more targeted ads to people or get people to waste more time on their platforms. Is the contribution of this 'cream of India' whose course is subsidized by Indian taxpayer net-positive to society at large? I hope more IITian choose civil service over foreign companies, maybe it will make our administration better.

Lmao where it's written that it's the job for only your stream it's the inability of student if he can't compete with others (bet you left maths happily after 10th grade thinking it's over and won't need to touch it ever again in future and here you are whining)

Barring Indian Express, not one news media has reported on India’ s disastrous Olympics performance. No wonder the sports in this country is in such a sorry state

Very true. The rot within IOA and national sports federation is not discussed. There is no discussion about developing sporting culture and creating grassroot sporting talent, incorporating sports in schools and colleges. There is not sight of reforms in Indian sports. Example - Archery association took everyone to Paris except the coach! We should be forming a committee to look into the root cause of Olympics failure.

Because people study to get into these uni for money and doesn't really have zeal for the domain. So, they then try to get into something which would earn them more money with least work possible. Same is the situation in China where there is a standardized test with no focus on candidate interest.
Can't do anything about this situation unless you want an entrance process similar to US that discriminates against weaker sections of society

What a useless fellow. We should move away from administrative jobs for the youth. Focus on entrepreneurship and highly technical jobs.
