Our mission is to explain news and politics in an impartial, efficient, and accessible way, balancing import and interest while fostering independent thought.
TLDR is a completely independent & privately owned media company that's not afraid to tackle the issues we think are most important. The channel is run by a small group of young people, with us hoping to pass on our enthusiasm for politics to other young people. We are primarily fan sourced with most of our funding coming from donations and ad revenue. No shady corporations, no one telling us what to say. We can't wait to grow further and help more people get informed. Help support us by subscribing, engaging and sharing. Thanks!

00:00 - Intro
00:07 - Too Long
02:03 - Bite the Ballot
02:32 - Election Night Live
TLDR is announcing that they are running a candidate in all seats, and they're confident they'll get a majority
Best comment
I'd vote for them, maybe. I'd need to see policy first.
@@JasonAtlas TLDRs policy: Current politics is TLDR so we're replacing all national and local law making with a single gameshow. If the politican can guess what number the host is thinking, their law passes. If they get it wrong, they get gunked.
If TLDR becomes new national tv, how are we gonna make sex puns out of their names?
Still gonna beat the Tories
I thought the biggest announcement is Ben got a nice haircut
Wait it wasn't?
He needs a shave. Looks better clean saven.
@@markgreene3483 don’t you dare!
Is the fly a regular guest?
... Russian spyfly 😁
Depends on how much of a buzz there is...🤷
Great to see TLDR news growing. The internet needs less opinion and more facts
Agreed, they even have fly perspectives!
Just my opinion, but I think it's a bit short-sighted to put your live election show behind a paywall, because it could be a very good opportunity to draw people to TLDR and build up your credentials among existing viewers, by providing a much better live coverage (especially for younger people) than the typical UK media institutions.
Also, for the paywall model, an alternative way to pay and gain access to it could be good, no disrespect to the magazine but I wouldn't need one.
Agree, the paywall could be for comments and interactions, but cutting out the majority of viewership may not be a good move
Agreed. Ive followed this channel for a long time now and it's quite disappointing
I agree, it would be a lot better and it could bring new viewers to have it for free RUclips.
It's not like I'm going to sign up just to see that one thing.
Agreed. This is a marketing slam dunk, and paywalling it will limit potential for new audiences to learn about TLDR
Yeah this is a massive marketing fail for attracting a larger audience. And like you say, if they want to PPV then fine, but attaching it to a £20 magazine is frankly bizarre
It took me this long to recognise the name "Too Long" camw from the TL in TL;DR. But only £8? I might bite the bullet on this one.
2:12 "so, if you wanna hear more-"
The fly: "no"
god damn fly
I can't be the only one who heard "so we can continue making quality-free journalism" at 3:42
Did you get the fly ?😂
And if so, was it the original with Vincent Price, or the 1980s David Cronenberg remake with Jeff Goldblum?
Is that "quality, free journalism" or "quality-free journalism"? 😂
I thought the same when i heard it. :)
By quality free do you mean of low value or nondescript?
“That f***ing fly got in the way of the TeleprompTer 😂😂😂
LMAO
Will this paper have the answers to the previous cross word? I still haven't managed to solve it
I never got my copy of Too Long after ordering it, so I'm not too excited about buying the physical paper this time. Will there be an online version (so that we don't have to deal with shipping problems)?
Did you contact them?
Email us at hello@tldrnews.co.uk and we can get that old shipping issue resolved!
That being said, there is indeed a digital edition if you'd prefer to avoid that going forward - Jack
Thanks for all the work you do for independent journalism. I'm really glad to see you grow and take on these new projects. You deserve all the revenue you can get
So for the second Too Long, you're just going to print one for a Labour win in advance and not bother with the Tory Wins version 😅
You guys are smashing it! So happy for you and TLDR
It is so refreshing to see election coverage that is not American. I am Canadian, living in Canada, and yet I am INUNDATED by coverage of the USA election. Thank you SO MUCH.
Love your channel. Have you tried pulling the gamma of your video down by 1 or 2 and pushing the gain by the same amount? Or do you like the low contrast look?
I agree with other comments - putting the Election Night live podcast behind a payroll is a mistake. Election Night usually has the highest interest in politics and your biggest chance to grow your audience so it should be a live on RUclips for free.
More niche videos that wouldn't work on the main channel, deep-dives and/or extended versions of your RUclips videos should be for Premium readers.
I clicked the link to take a look at the magazine and I'm quite shocked at how expensive the PDF version is. Considering theres no printing and delivery costs i expected it to be much less. To me it would make sence for the magazine to be a very cheap PDF £1-2 and then make the physical copy the much more expensive collector's item.
Ordered!
Great stuff! Keep up the good work.
What happened with the sound near the end?
Too long should be a monthly magazine
You should roll up a copy of TooLong to swat the fly with
Exciting news!
Will you continue doing the yearly version of too long?
I bought the last years and would like to continue buying them once a year, every 4 months would be a bit too much for me.
If you still have a yearly version I’d love to continue supporting it.
Absolutely, the December edition every year will act as the end of year special, so feel free just to collect them! - Jack
Is there going to be any way of having it shipped outside of the UK? Really love your stuff, but I don't live in Europe or the US (which is normally the only place where youtubers ship to)
Truely one of the last great news journalists, well done guys, keep up the good work.
I've been watching you guys since you were a tiny chanel. You have my full repect and are by far the best an least biased news distributer I've ever come across. Keep up the good work guys, and never give up on teaching people the truth! ❤
03:25 - Expect? I hope if anything 🍀 😊
Bought the physical and the older edition as well! Keep up the good work
Proud of you guys!
I'm not interested in purchasing them magazine as I just can't afford it but I would pay a one off fee for your election night coverage please make that an option!
Love the channel and the last release of the newspaper, I saw there's a PDF edition too this time around... Would it be possible to get a combo item which gives access to the PDF as well as the physical newspaper. I want to be able to collect the physical releases and go through them but digital formats are more accessible for me since I usually am able to use a screen reader with little issue on PDF documents.
Cost of living kind of makes it hard to fork out even more money monthly, especially for stuff that isn't like medicine, blood tests, phone bills, ect.. Maybe something around £16.99 would make sense for physical + pdf?
In any case, I'll at least be getting the physical edition. Keep up the great work. 💜
I would hope the physical version also includes the digital version but no confirmation yet.
Congratulations for the amazing work you do.
Brilliant! However, I must admit I did wince at you calling it a "teleprompter" rather than an 'autocue'... Such shame at being a Brit😪...
*I am joking but also not 😋
Looking forward to the magazine!!!!
If I want a physical and digital copy do I have to buy them separately?
Please make a video on the top ten most interesting seats in the general election or just simply a list of ones to watch
A question from a viewer from across the pond in the US. Can you explain how a local council goes bankrupt? If one does declare bankruptcy, does the central government take over?
Thank you.
I bought last year's magazine (though I still haven't read it yet), and I shall have to consider buying the new round. I also subscribed to the podcast just after the election was announced (but before the name change, which made me confused for a bit on my subscription list). I don't think Premium is worth it for me, but I hope you get lots of support from that offering.
Im excited for this! Definitely will be buying
Loved the first edition but I got burned by the import duties (and associated handling fees) being higher than the price of the newspaper itself. Could you consider printing and sending papers within the EU for EU subscribers? I don’t think there are too few of us to make it worth the extra effort.
That's entirely fair - and we're really sorry about that. We've rectified the issue this time round, so you pay the import tax upfront and hopefully it's lots cheaper. We're also offering a digital edition for anyone who doesn't want to pay for any shipping.
When it comes to printing in other countries, we will see if enough people from Europe order to make it worth it, but it could be possible in the future - Jack
Good old Brexit!
Who will be foreign secretary and state secretary in starmer cabinet?
Any guesses??
Well, David Lammy is Shadow Foreign Secretary and so will probably be Foreign Secretary at least at the start.
David Cameron, he’d fit right in.
So long as you don't get rid of the yearly round up in Dec as well, good plan going forward.
Thank you.
Guess I’ll be spending my birthday evening watching the TLDR exit poll reaction 😂
Will it be shipped from the UK again? As a European, the post asked me to pay the import duties, so I decided to send it back as that would make the price too steep.
Yep, we'll be shipping from the UK. We've taken feedback from last year onboard though, so we registered with an IOSS scheme and therefore collect duties and tax at checkout for EU customers, making pricing more transparent for everyone.
- Jan
I hope you've given the Fly a name!
Man I love TLDR
It's a regular now!
If Cactusgate is not thoroughly covered with at least three typos and one factual flub, I will see this as compromising your journalistic integrity.
Also, Ben's saga about his personal identity being stolen had better get an update.
The problem is that the tax to import this to europe was more expensibe than the journal...
Have you thought about accepting economics/political science articles? Might be cool.
I love you guys but a nebula sub, patreon and now this to get all the digital content? I get charging for the magazine but atleast make the other stuff available to patreons
Big Announcement Triple Lock
My friends, any plans for TL:DR Australia? I’ll quit my job and work for you.
I would do the same for TLDR Ireland
Bring back TLDR News US!
Oh maaan, I thought one of the big announcements was gonna be that you are going to stop yelling at us during the news
Please make digital edition of Too Long for international subscribers
There is one already! And it's cheaper than the regular print edition - Jack
Im a fan of your newspaper, however last time i had to pay import taxes nearly as high as the paper itself.
Thanks so much for your support! Just to let you know - we took that feedback onboard and we now calculate and collect import taxes for EU countries at checkout (via an IOSS scheme), so there should be no other fees due upon delivery.
We've also improved the overall quality of the newspaper: it is now a 60-paged magazine with higher quality digital print throughout, and thicker pages (which will lead to substantially less discolouration when exposed to sunlight for longer periods). - Jan
@@TLDRnews thank you, thats nice to hear and an incredible fast response from you guys
I think for a smaller company like yours with a targeted international audience through youtube, you would get massive support from your community if you make a video about your revenue and your cost and show us what more money would get us.
Being honestly transparent is the best ad you can have when you are talking about politics in somewhat corrupt world.
iirc they already did that before, might have been on the... business channel I think? I quick youtube search should get you there easy!
April 1 you say…. 🤔
i didnt think the first too long had been sent out yet :/ mine must of got lost in the ether or something.
Hey! Please email us at hello@tldrnews.co.uk with your order reference number, and I can have a look.
- Jan
@@TLDRnews thanks for getting back to me so promptly, here and via email 👍
na na na na hey hey…goodbye. this is the start of the end…the shark right ahead, jumping it soon. even the video need a tldr version. tldr: they commercializing according to growth ambitions.
PlayerFM, nice
I need TLDR PGP/GPG keys for digital version of it.
otherwise our printer port/ lpt0 will burn
No news is good news as they say. Through I understand you guys need to earn a living.
Jurys still out on if I can trust you guys as unbiased news. What looking for more than anything hate having to use GBnews just to get away from BBC bias but so far you being alright, hope you guys keep that as your core and most important thing as you grow. Keep up the good work.
"Too Long" would actually be a pretty good title for the US elections
Leave it to TLDR to bring sexy back to newspapers.
YES
Getting my name printed is really cool. Bu i don’t live in the UK.
We do ship internationally, or at least into most countries. There's a list of countries we can't ship into on toolong.news - this is due to various restrictions & shipping suspensions. - Jan
I really like what you guys are doing and the magazine sounds great but paywalling the election night stream, that's a missed opportunity if you don't open it up
"So that we can continue making quality free journalism on RUclips as long as possible". Too easy to mis-parse that sentence. I'd've never described your journalism as "quality-free". It has many qualities, it's brevity being amongst them.
Could've done with a minor change: "high-quality, free", "free, high-quality".
I want the totebag. Make the totebag available for other places besides the UK!
We may well do in the future...
Love yall
Lol eliminating the DR from your name cuz is a readed media 😂
First. UK general election support STV voting system for House of Commons.. How many years do Labour party want in power two terms as British government 10 years. Awesome. Art Bezrukavenko win it.
I am not a buisness expert, however i belive your election podcast in public would be a smarter way to get new viewers. Election season is THE time to get politics enjoyers to consume your content and blocking it is like getting money paid so only the 10 people can watch it
So Gaza, but not a word about Ukraine?!
Last time there was a big announcement it was that you were bringing the podcast back. The big announcement before that was that you were putting the podcast on hiatus. Then the announcement before that was that podcast was back, because the announcement before that it was on hiatus. Can the next big announcement just be no more hiatus for the podcast? That would be p. cool.
I really wanna get a subscribtion, but import tax is so high 😭
That's entirely fair enough - it's pretty rough for many European countries. If you buy the digital edition though it doesn't come with any additional import taxes so that might be a little more affordable!
Subscribed!
Is it about the 4 hostages who were rescued from the "innocent palestinian civilians"
Sacrificial comment to the algorithm gods!!!
Are you actually specifically covering four other wars in Too Long and ignoring Ukraine?
Will you keep conveniently leaving out information like you did in your video on Jeremy Corbyn being ousted??
Untrustable.
I don't think your journalism is "quality free." I've always found it high quality.
NGL i started laughing at the podcast clip, you three look exactly the same lol
ww3?
Is the guy with the glasses still working with you?
They split the hosting duties a while back, Ben handles UK while other people handle the other channels. the "guy with the glasses" does tldr global and tldr business for example :)
Please stop
Best channel
Did you have more channels before? Or as a Finn did I stop caring of the British nonsense.
It's all so sad really. I have read what is happening the UK. I hope you get your economy back on track in the next 50 years or so.
Commenting 4 algorithm
And none covering INDIA😂😂😂😂
I am sure it will be there. It is quite important and relevant and many other news sources talk about it too.
Is there a way I can purchase it in Russia?
Its a digital copy. Id guess youd get a link or an email with a link or a document in it
@@iceteal3mon108 I'm talking about the payment itself. Without SWIFT, I can only make payments to a handful of countries (UK isn't one of them), and my bank apparently doesn't have a page on how to make international payments to the other countries.
TLDR News desperately needs a second language in order to expand its user base, and by having the virtue of being the 5th most spoken language in the world, as well as the most spoken language in Europe other than English, French makes a perfect fit for that second language, as with French, it's not just France that is unlocked, but Europe as a whole, and not only that, it also unlocks Canada and even parts of Africa, the most populated continent in the world besides Asia as well as the most overlooked besides Antarctica.
If you wanted a second language, I'd argue that Spanish would make more sense. Not only is it more spoken (there are about 500 million Spanish speakers, compared to only 300 million French speakers), most of its speakers are native speakers, so they'll be very likely to prefer watching in Spanish even if they also speak English.
Spanish also has much less overlap with English. As you say, French is widely spoken in Europe, but English is also ubiquitous in Europe (in a lot of the same countries, in fact). Likewise, most Canadians speak English. Not only is Spain itself one of the European countries where English is *least* spoken, a large number of the countries where Spanish is spoken are places in South America where knowledge of English is quite low. Africa might be very populated, but not all of it speaks French. In fact, not only is it is not widely spoken in the most populous country in Africa (Nigeria), of the five most populous countries in Africa, only the DRC has French as its official language. Of the other four, only Egypt has a significant number of French speakers... And even there, there are more than ten times as many English speakers as French speakers. In total, you're looking at 100ish million people in Francophone Africa, vs. 200ish million Spanish-speaking South Americans.
(Side-benefit, Spanish is very close to Portuguese. If you're translating everything to Spanish anyway, it's fairly easy to translate from Spanish to Portuguese, and that's another 200 million or so people. Most of whom are, again, native speakers.)
@@TriangleChloros There are more countries that speak French than those that speak Spanish (there are 27 countries that speak French vs only 21 that speak Spanish).
@@candyneige6609 I mean... kinda? 27 countries have French as an official language, but that doesn't mean they're actually places where everyone speaks French. For example, French is one of the two official languages of Chad, but only about 15% of people in Chad actually speak French. This is not particularly unusual, of those 27 countries I don't think even half of them are actually majority French-speaking.
Also, like... Not all countries are equally relevant. Seychelles has a population of only 0.1 million. More than a third of whom speak English anyway. Meanwhile, Chile has a population of 17.5 million, almost all of whom actually speak Spanish... and only about a tenth of whom speak English.
@@TriangleChloros While it's true that Spanish is spoken in these Spanish-speaking countries, the majority of people in these countries also speak English.
Meanwhile, in the vast majority of French-speaking countries, hardly anyone speaks English, with the exception of Canada, where there are many English speakers, and even then, there are more French speakers in Canada than there are English speakers.
