I dunno if it was mentioned before but also there is a thing like northern and southern accent, people usually don't know how big the actual differences are and whoever is learning Northern accent might be confused talking with southerner, also some specific words are different as well
yeah, there are some differences between northern and southern accent. maybe in the future, I will make a video about it. In this video, I just listed some few specific characteristics of Vietnamese that I think learners should know before they start learning Vietnamese. Mostly, I emphasized the pronunciation part because it is quite hard and important.
yes, I thought the same thing.. when you use the example of the word for chicken (ga), it sounds like 'ya' but I was taught by a VN tutor from the south that it is pronounced just as it looks in English.. maybe 'ya' is the northern pronunciation.. maybe you can confirm which pronunciation your videos are using... other than that, the video is very well done, hoping to see more of them in the future.. :)
@@nicedadd51 I believe her videos are using northern accent, also it makes more sense because it's the national accent or something (it is used in the city where the government is placed). Though if you're living in Europe or America, there are usually only south Vietnamese people, so you might have hard time understanding them
Great introduction to the complexities of Vietnamese. Thank you.
Thank you so much. That's the hardest part about Vietnamese. Is the tones, you helped me a lot. I will be learning the tones.
