The missing link was found in 1974, and was named Lucy after the Beatles song "Lucy and the Diamonds in the Sky".

There is no “The” Missing Link.
There are only Transitionary species. There will never be ONE species that links modern humans to earlier apes because all species ARE transitionary.
With every question answered, new questions arise and that’s how it’s supposed to be.

It's never specified if fry is related to the professor via the professors mother or fathers side. So fry could be related to the professors on the mothers side. Explaining why his last name is Farnsworth and not fry. As fry is actually Phillip j Fry.
Although this is unlikely considering we meet both of the professors parents in later episodes. So it's most likely he only used it as an expression.

This episode does pose some really interesting philosophical thoughts. Is the universe created by something or is it just pure randomness. And if something did create the universe what created the thing that created the universe. It’s a paradox and it’s beyond my brain. I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t keeping me up at night some days. Not a religious person, kind of cliché to say I am spiritual though. It just seems like we’re missing a piece of the puzzle somewhere. I have stories if you guys want to hear them though some things that would blow your mind

I love how the professor didn't create their planet but when the robot mistakenly assumed that the professor was claiming to have created the planet, the Prof.Farnsworth got lost in the conversation & distracted him with an aside about time-dilation that was somehow rationalizing the planet being created in days. even though that's not what happened at all... I know it's "Nice" to act "Nice" but, on a meta-level; don't Gaslight religious people just because it feels good to talk down to someone.
the Bible already says "A day to god is 1000 years" & I've never read it and wasn't even raised to respect it 😂
